Everything tasted fresh and I love that you can add more veggies to your signature bowl. I ordered the tofu bowl with brown rice and it was so filling. The seaweed salad was bomb and the avocado gives the whole thing a buttery texture. I topped it off by adding all the crunchies and I was in texture heaven. My mom loved the miso soup that comes with the combo. Check this place out if you want something fresh and delicious!

Great quick and healthy lunch which is hard to find in the vally. Staff was fast and the value of the positions was spot on.

Poke Rice Bowls. One with spicy tuna/spicy salmon and one with plain tuna/plain salmon and all the vegetables!

I had only had take out from out local Pokeworks but today we tried dine in. I'm so glad we did. The service was great, our preparer was so patient and knowledgeable. My husband and I became obsessed with Poke after a trip to Hawaii, and we do like it. Our rice bowls were enormous, one can easily feed 2 hungry people and the protein servings were not skimpy either. EVERYTHING was fresh and delicious, and it can easily be the ONE meal of the day. I highly recommended it. The establishment was extremely clean and so was the restroom. Major plus, we went at an off hour for lunch and we had the place to ourselves with the A/C perfectly cool. We did people watch as many people do go for take out!! I highly recommended it and it's perfectly located on North 10th Street in McAllen.

When I first heard this place opened, I was excited. I love rice bowls and if any opportunity comes around where I can eat a great tasting one, I'll take it. I came an hour before closing time, because I was in the area. I haven't really heard anything about the restaurant other than it was open, so I was curious about how they operated. This venue is a "customize-your-own-food" type of restaurant. There are options to get a specifically made bowl, but I chose to make my own due to the excitement. The server was very nice and was very open about what his preferences were when it came to customization. He also gave me advice on the how I wanted it to taste like based on my taste palette and what I preferred. He also let me know that there was a promotion going on, if you download the app, you could get $5 off your next order for pick up. The restaurant was very clean. Prior to going in, they were cleaning, and clean about every 30 minutes or so. After the incredible service, I decided to dig into my bowl. It was one of the best tasting food places I've tasted in a while, since visiting back to the valley. You get what you pay for! The rice was still super hot, even though I ate it 30 minutes after arriving at the restaurant. I ordered fresh lemonade on the side and it is by far really good lemonade- not too sweet, not too sour. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to indulge in healthy eating, or has a rice bowl addiction like me. A great recommendation who's in the area!

Love pokeworks. Word of advice: order in person. It tastes so much better when you eat it freshly made.

Shrimp stuffed Jalapeño (2): they were huge and tasted really good. 2. Fried Mushrooms: they were nicely friend with grated Parmesan on top. 3. Popcorn shrimp: this is like any popcorn shrimp you have had at any restaurant. It was good. Then ordered a stuffed crab. (My mom had this and it's her favorite app. Finally we ordered oysters Rockefeller which are always great. For our main meals: Two of us (including myself) had the Red Snapper Rockefeller which was the best thing I've had in a while. There three cheese sauce is something out of this world. The other two individuals had the Kings Stuffed Flounder. They both very much enjoyed it and it came with the same three cheese sauce as well. The fried potatoes were nice and crispy and paired well with the three cheese sauce. The corn was perfectly seasoned. Can't wait to go back again.

First, let's talk about the fact that the air conditioning (or lack thereof) is a HUGE problem. It never works. It's always HOT. Last weekend I visited and they had 2 stand fans running... because once again, the AC was out. Think about that... the AC was out in the middle of Summer. Are we to believe that this restaurant doesn't make enough money to either fix or purchase a new unit? To add insult to injury, the wandering busboy didn't want to turn the ceiling fan on high. That is both unacceptable and ridiculous. Next, let's talk about the food. It's become so-so at best. The once delicious seafood stuffed jalapeño was soggy inside- a mush of tasteless filling that had a few pieces of hard, chopped up shrimp. The french fries had no salt... my question is are they skimping on basic seasonings or are the line cooks just lazy? Most likely both. Lastly, out of all the seafood restaurants in the RGV, Dirty Al's has the WORST cocktail and tartar sauce. In fact, it's the worst I've tasted anywhere. How can that be? Those two sauces are standard and not difficult to make. When Long John Silver has better sauces, you're in trouble. What a shame. What a waste of money. Dirty Al, do better. Bring back the days of delicious food in a comfortable setting. Perhaps it's time to sail off into the sunset.

Just be aware that the lunch special does not include the sashimi/nigiri options. The interior has great lighting and it is very lively. It's not too noisy and there's plenty of parking around the corner as well. My main complaint about Umiya is that the service here is hit or miss. Sometimes I would get a waiter/waitress who would constantly check-up on me and ask about what I wanted to order. Other times, the waiter/waitress would rarely come by my table to take my order. If there could be some more consistency in the service, then that would greatly enhance the customer all-you-can-eat experience. In regards to the food, I highly recommend getting a cup of their miso soup since it's not too salty and has a good amount of tofu and seaweed. It has a good balance of savoriness. I highly recommend trying their rainbow roll, yummy roll, and shaggy dog roll too. The rolls are made to order and they have always come out fresh during my visits. I haven't had a bad tasting roll Don't forget to get some ice cream too for dessert because their green tea ice cream has a nice natural earthy tone to its flavor profile.
