I got a rice bowl last night with my standard order and it was good. I have gotten the same over the pandemic and would normally have given it 4 stars, but this time was not up.to the usual standard. This time it was just white rice (brown rice still offered as well) and not sushi rice anymore which I miss. It gave the bowl more zip without overloading the whole dish. Gets loud though. Served line style (think chipotle) keeping it as hygienic as possible. So many options & choices & add ins & sauces so the combinations are endless. Been coming back and they seem to have worked the kinks out. The kale noodles have been in stock even at the busiest of times. Everything seems to be fresh and service seems to be quick, although I have seen some of the new faces mess up once or twice. I'm a fan. It's good poke for a reasonable price. I think I prefer the salmon over the tuna most of the time here, which isn't traditional, but who cares, that's what makes me happy. I had heard about Pokeworks. I figured I would try it for lunch today. It was easy parking and close to home so an easy option. I LOVED it. I had the ahi spicy tuna bowl and added avocado! I've been to Pokeworks many times and their fish is very consistently fresh and tasty. I normally don't see the purpose in reviewing a chain restaurant but the experience that you get here, in this suburban Connecticut location, is way different from the experience I've had in in NYC locations. Customer service is great and I've always been greeted with a smile. There's also a lot more space to sit here and I've always been able to find a seat when needed. It's never super crowded and even when the line is long, it moves very quickly. In general, poke is pretty pricey but I think that if you get the fish, it's completely worth it. White rice is definitely the best with your poke bowl (in my opinion) but I usually get the kale noodles because they're also yummy and make me feel a little better about myself. They're super nice here about trying stuff before committing to it so I recommend trying some sauces before deciding which one to get. The sauce makes a really big difference on the overall taste of the bowl. I recommend Sriracha Aioli! read more

Pokeworks is a must try! The staff was friendly and patient as I contemplated each and every choice I made for the endless toppings. I had one scoop of tuna and one of salmon (you are given two scoops). Both the tuna and salmon were clearly fresh, with a very mild flavor. For those deciding between the tastier sushi rice and healthier base options, I recommend doing half salad mix and half sushi rice to get the best of both. I was more than happy to try it, since I have not found great poké around here, and I love love love poké. The concept of the place is simple, just like ordering at a Chipotle. You order your favorite base, protein, and toppings. I decided to go with the Hawaiian Classic and added some seaweed salad. I wanted to eat it right away, but with a 5 year-old, I decided to take it to go... Even still, it was delicious at home. I've been here twice in person and ordered via ubereats on multiple occasions. I prefer to support local businesses and I love having a poke place so close to home. I have become a bit of a poke conniesuer in the past decade so here is what I think, based on my experiences in New York, New haven, California, Hawaii transplanted holes in the wall worldwide, etc: The place is clean, open, and the assembly line is functional. Nice place to eat healthily and work on your laptop. The owner and managers are super friendly and accommodating. The fish (which is what poke is about) is fresh and the refrigeration of said fish is consistent, safe. The bowls are pretty decent with rice, salad, or kale noodles. Now here is why I only gave 3 stars: The flavor of the fish is not as robust as I would like, in spite of its obvious freshness. And yes, I've tried them all here. No single sauce or combination of sauces can make up for how the fish is marinated. Other than the copious amounts of rice, the portions are small (especially the utensils used for portions, i.e. the tiny prongs) and I often end up asking for more of something other than the fish. However, whenever I ask (even for more herbs, vegetables, or seaweed salad) I am given a look and they tell me that there will be a $1 surcharge. That is heinous for barely a mouthful more of seaweed salad, scarcely served with the tiny prongs. This is the only place where I've experienced this. I would have preferred to be offered a side of seaweed salad and pay accordingly. As the place is still new, I'll try to come back at a later date. I'd be interested to see their seasonal offerings and whether portioning has changed. Best wishes for much success! read more

Not the poke bowl place for me! Their spicy mayo is siracha and so spicy my mouth was burning. I tasted it before I got it but having full mouth bites with it was overwhelming. Usually I do a spicy mayo combo with eel sauce they also didn't have that. I used their sweet teriyaki as an alternative but everything was so spicy I didn't finish my bowl :( so sad cause I was excited about seeing a poke bowl place since I am unfamiliar with the area! Also had limited toppings, no corn or carrots which add a nice crunch usually. The staff was very nice which is why I'm giving two stars! If you like spicy come here.
