Nice people - great service. I love when the servers let you know what's made fresh. We really wanted to try the steak and gnocchi but we knew that was too much for a late dinner. I ordered a lovely sangria made in-house, and the rigatoni with meatballs. It was a great value for $10 and came with a salad and plenty of bread. For a $1 upcharge you can get house-made blue cheese dressing. It was good. And I love getting a beet slice and onions on my salad. My sister got the lasagna and enjoyed it as well. I wish I had read the reviews earlier to know to order extra meat sauce and cheese. But still a good value. I definitely will go back. The business is almost 100 years old so it's definitely got an old school vibe, but the dining room gives you plenty of elbow room. read more

Food was good. Service was good. My wife is picky about red sauce. She just won't enjoy her meal if it's not right. She always asks just to sample a spoonful. The waitress said the owner does not allow sampling. Ok she got something else. But there were a lot of Italian entrees that we probably would have come back to try. I know this is an alliance staple and the food and ambiance is good and consistent. I was very disappointed to see they passed on the credit card SERVICE FEE AT 4% EXTRA on my receipt when I got home in addition to the tip. I was not notified they would be charging this beforehand or I would have paid cash. If you are craving traditional pasta, this is the place. We love this old neighborhood restaurant. Anything we've ordered has been good. The bread is amazing and comes from a local bakery. The ravioli and lasagna are favorites of mine. They have a full bar, and it's fun to stop in for a drink and chat with other locals and regulars. It's casual for sure, but the dining room really could use a makeover and some music; however, we overlook that because this is such a unique place and the food is worth it. read more

While Polinori's might be hard to find if you're a newcomer to Alliance, it is a very awesome local Italian restaurant. I can highly recommend it and basically everything on the menu will most likely be good. The only issues you may run into are whether or not they're open or where to park. Beets on the salad were excellent. Server gave me some of their new cheese spread to try and it was super tasty on crackers. Food was very good. The blue cheese salad dressing was my favorite thing. It was different, in a really good way. I think it has just a dash of horseradish. I do wish there was more than 1 sauce option. Those of us who don't eat meat don't always want butter and garlic. I understand 1 red sauce option, but Alfredo or something similar would really be nice. This is what limits us going in often. We can't be the only ones who feel this way. read more

Polinori's is such a charming old school restaurant! It's a favorite of my parents and now of mine because: a) delicious Italian food and b) extremely reasonable prices. We stopped in just last weekend when my dad recommended it for an early dinner. They have delicious Italian bread and brought us a generous portion along with their signature cracker selection in addition to butter and a scoop of their cheese dip spread. I tried their homemade French dressing with my salad and it was good but I might go with the Italian or their homemade blue cheese dressing next time since I see other Yelpers recommending it! I ordered the lasagna which was fantastic and hearty with their delicious meat sauce, al dente noodles, and lots of cheese (my favorite). Others in my group got rigatoni and meatballs, strip steak and gnocchi, and the extra large spaghetti platter (it IS extra large!) and all enjoyed their meals. The spaghetti platter made for some great leftovers and I look forward to returning when I'm in Alliance! read more

We've been regulars at Poli's since the '80's (and enjoyed it as college students in the '60s). The service is good and the staff welcoming. They have a great bar and the pour is generous. The food is very good and the prices very reasonable. All the items on the Italian menu are worth a try, and the steaks are always good. Having grown up in Alliance, I have memories of dining at Polinori's over the years. While I believe the emphasis has always been on the bar end of the establishment (at least since Joe Muniz took over) they do OK in the restaurant end- the pasta is rather bland but I have always liked the gnocchi. Food here isn't made from scratch or really even authentically Italian, but it's one of those dive hole-in-the-wall spots that linger in the memory of a community. If you want authentic Italian there are any number of better establishments in the akron-canton-youngstown-cleveland-pitt area to visit. I recall the antipasto being nothing more than cold cuts and american cheese singles--- folksy blue-collar American perhaps, but not authentic Italian. We went here for a birthday party Saturday night. I'm gonna start by saying, the person who's party it was is a regular here. I don't mean once a month or even once a week. They are there at least 2-3 times a week. They are well-loved at this place. So I would assume they'd treat him as such. There were originally 20 of us. They put us in a room that would comfortably fit no more than 14 (they had the table set for 18 but only about 14 chairs). We asked if we could move to the big party room that was empty, but they said no. I honestly don't understand why they didn't put us in there to begin with since it was empty and would have been nice for the kids to have a big space to play. Anyway, it was standing room only in this teeny tiny room and some couldn't even get into the room. So 4 people ended up just leaving. And the rest of us were still feeling cramped. We all got there at 7 but she didn't even take our orders until 8:30 (and that was only because we begged her twice). So by the time we ate, it was way after 9 (and there were 5 very hungry kids...). The majority of the food was good. But I ordered chicken parmesan and there wasn't any cheese on it... So it wasn't actually chicken parm. It was just fried chicken with sauce. I don't understand how you mess that up. Also, there's no kids menu for some reason. They won't even just give you half an order of the spaghetti or whatever. It's weird. My amaretto sours were really good though. Better than I've had anywhere. So were my husbands drinks. Basically, I would only go here again if we were invited or if we just wanted to drink at the bar. I love supporting local small businesses but they have to deserve my money. We don't go out to eat a lot so if I'm gonna spend $80-100 somewhere I want it to be worth it. read more

Comfort food. We went for a birthday gathering and truly enjoyed. The strip steak was very juicy and cooked to perfection. The gnocchi was a bit bland, but I enjoyed. The family also enjoyed the prime rib (so tender they cut it with a fork). This place is a "northern thing" nothing like this in the south, too bad for us. Service was great! Family friendly!
