Well Done Lucca You could tell that the pasta was made fresh. We are arrived o. Time and were immediately taken to our table that was awaiting us. It's not a big place. We were served complimentary bread and I ordered a Cherry Bourbon Manhattan which was scrumptious. I ordered the Sausage Polenta as my appetizer and it was very filling. My wife tried the Shrimp dish and she liked it. Her baked pasta dish was a hit with my wife and my dish was a 4 out of 5 as it was a little too firm for me, but softened up nicely the day after. We drove up to Canton from Columbus for my partners's Mom's Birthday. Of course it was going to be our favorite with a dinner at Lucca! The food was amazing (as always)! I tried the Baked Rigatoni for the first time. You can always taste the difference in handmade pasta and that sausage and sauce had a delightful kick to it. My partner and his mom enjoyed the Halibut and the smashed red skinned garlic potatoes were phenomenal. The atmosphere is relaxing, and so inviting and we had excellent food and service always! It was good for the most part, and ambiance was nice, although I'm not sure I would make it a priority to come again. We were there early in the evening and it was not busy at all yet. We found parking right out front. The service was friendly and efficient. The cod with the chimichurri sauce was the show-stopper here. It was hands-down the most flavorful and delightful. Generous portion and they got the flavor perfect. There was also a halibut special, which my mom ordered, but compared to the cod, we found it to be much more bland. My dad had the rigatoni and my son had the spaghetti. He did not want the meatball (which was gigantic- like the size of my fist!) and we all agreed that my mom makes a better meatball at home. Nothing wrong with this one, just nothing that stands out. And the spaghetti was fine for a 4 year old, but also nothing extraordinary. The portion was quite large so we brought most of it home. As much as I appreciate going out to eat, I think my version of spaghetti is better too for a fraction of the cost. It's okay- I was glad to try somewhere new. There is not a kid's menu, which I knew coming in, so no complaints there- just don't expect smaller portions, or to pay any less for the little ones. The waitress was SO sweet and timely. The lighting was a but too dark for my preference, but the ambience was definitely there. It was so comfy!! Let me start by saying I was SOOOOOO looking forward to dine at Lucca! Off the rip our table was not ready and we waited 15-20 min past our reservation. Once seated we got our water, asked to order an app but our waiter didn't listen and walked away. Waited 10-15 min for him to return to order the appetizers, and we had waited long enough that we wanted to order dinner but once again he walked away, as we were asking to order dinner! Waited another 15 min for the appetizers (not bad at all, kinda quick). Then finally we got to order our dinners! The Calamari and charcuterie board were very nice and reasonably priced. Dinner comes out and I ordered the Pork Chop! Looks amazing, beautiful presentation... until I cut into IT and IT IS RAW!!!!! My pork chop looked like a medium rare steak, cool and red. The "Meat ball" is super questionable and disgusting. This is not good food, the pasta was pasty and extremely over cooked. I don't know how anyone can eat this. First time visiting and it was very nice. The atmosphere was very pleasant. We were sat right by the open kitchen, which was nice. The server was very informative with the menu, she was very helpful. Now the food! We ordered the calamari for our app, and this was the best calamari I have ever had. It was cooked perfectly, it sat on a garlic aoli which was also amazing! Stopped in on a Saturday at 6:45 pm for table for 2, no reservations. The place was full but there was space at the bar, full menu available. We had the calamari as an appetizer which was fried with some peppers (jalapeño and red) along with their delicious bread and olive oil. And I had the Gorgonzola pasta (rich decadent creamy sauce with clams and truffles). And my partner had spaghetti with meatball (meatball was huge and very tender and fresh, Everything was excellent. We came into town to be witness to a friend being inducted into the NFL HOF. We stayed at the Double Tree close to Lucca Italian. Arrived on Tuesday and joined Lucca for dinner. We sat at the bar, and Sharon was our bartender/server. Although we have never been here before, Sharon has the ability to make you feel like a "regular" customer. She is phenomenal. From the moment we sat down to the moment we left her service was impeccable. The bar was not busy when are we sat, however as the minutes ticketed the business increased as well as in the restaurant. She served it like a pro, she never skipped a beat. We came in two days later and she remembered both of our names! Yes, the food is phenomenal, portions are perfect, but she is the reason this place must be successful as she serves the entire restaurant for their drinks. Got a recommendation for Lucca from a nice server at a lunch place I went to today. She said it was the best Italian in Canton.... Anyway I go to Lucca Downtown. A very lovely place with a really nice atmosphere and surroundings. Nice servers and hosts.. I ordered a Belvedere martini and some bread and butter. I decided to get the Chicken Picatta. Came with risotto I asked 'can I sub pasta?' No problem and never mentioned an up charge. Charged 5.50 up charge for a 1/2 cup of pasta. I ordered Rigatoni's with meat sauce, got ziti. I specifically told the gal 'do not over SALT the dish, please... Get the dish, chicken was saltier than any dish ever. And the rigatoni was not rigatoni it was undercooked ziti. So two points of interest. When I pulled up outside the restaurant, there was a cook outside smoking. Bad sign, you're getting salty food. Chef's who smoke over salt because they can't taste. Three tiny pieces of chicken in a salt bath. Second, the new owner, Tony Ly, asked me how it was... I said honestly it's so salty I could hardly eat it. Then I pointed to the ziti, and said that's not rigatoni...it's ziti... I don't think he knows the difference.. He said he saw the request for no extra salt. I offered for him to try it, he just laughed it off. I asked if he was the manager he said no, one of the owners. Made a joke about being Asian and owning an Italian place. That was inappropriate.. and random, but explained a lot. Asked what kind of Cabernet by the glass, they just had one...75 wines on the wine list, five by the glass. 15.50 for a martin in Canton? Are we in NYC?? Overall very disappointing and the salt chicken should have been taken off the bill. read more

So, I work a few blocks from this place & everytime I go by, I always say I need to try it, especially since they've been open for over 5 years... well, I finally was able to! We called in about an hour & half before we wanted to go & they were able to get a reservation for 4. Upon arriving, they were pretty busy, so I'm glad we were able to get in. They had a live pianist which gave great ambiance. Definitely a perfect date night spot, but we went with friends. We started with a couple drinks & a bottle of wine- they had a great selection from Piedmont region in Italy, which I always look for a winery I visited there. They unfortunately were out of the 2 bottles we chose, so got a nice Cab. I ordered a caprese salad to start and the crab basil aglio pasta. My dining partners got 2 of the seafood specials, a steak, and beet salads for starters. This was honestly one of the hardest decisions because everything on their menu sounds fantastic. I felt like I had to get pasta because they make it in house, from scratch, everyday. It did not disappoint! They also fly in their fish fresh which is pretty uncommon in this area I feel. Everyone loved their food & I would definitely go back. They also provide bread & a basil infused olive oil for dipping. Our server was super attentive & helpful! The only drawback is the price. While I'm totally fine with higher prices for super fresh ingredients, the portions were probably realistically a healthy, average sized, so maybe we were just gluttons or starving, but I think the portions could have been a little bigger. Lucca deserves it's 5-star rating. I came here with a co-worker of mine while on a business trip on a Tuesday night (no live music, but not crowded at all either), and the service was friendly and attentive -- but not overly so. I ordered the pork chops and she ordered the gnocchi. Since I am not a big fan of horseradish, I requested the horseradish aioli on the side instead. I'm glad I requested it on the side because the pork chop itself was cooked to perfection. Later on the waiter told me that the aioli is really meant for the polenta. My co-worker enjoyed her gnocchi thoroughly. The food was so good that the first 10 minutes after our food came out, it was pretty much silent as we were both thoroughly just savoring our meals. Extraordinary! There are several reasons why I give Lucca 5-Stars. I will talk about the food last. Firstly, when you walk in, you are greeted by the friendliest staff. From the bartender to the waiters to the owner/chef to his parents, everyone there is excited to see you. And they greeted me by my first name! They had my name from the reservations, and they actually remembered and took the time to talk to me like I was an old friend. It made me feel really good, like I was someone they cared about. The atmosphere. I love it. Just dark enough to be romantic and cozy, with seasonal decorations and twinkling "fairy lights" (Christmas lights). We went to the wine tasting dinner and they had an excellent piano player that added to the nice atmosphere. The drinks. I imbibed on a Hendricks and tonic before being seated for the wine tasting dinner. My only disappointment was they had no cucumber to garnish the drink. And really, if a cucumber slice is your only disappointment, you had a great dinner! Cucumber aside, the drink was mixed well and strong, and it was a great way to relax and wet my palate before the dinner. The wine. There were two levels to the wine dinner on 20 October 2014. We chose the higher level so that we could try better wines. And Lucca did not disappoint! One of the wines we tried was $300 per bottle! There was not a wine served that wasn't amazing, and Chef Josh Schory paired them brilliantly with his food selections. The food. I have one word for you: Heaven. Okay, I have another word for you: Divine. Chef Josh is absolutely gifted. It's very hard to choose my favorite course. In fact, I simply cannot. They were all wonderful. I will tell you that simply thinking about the bleu cheese soufflé with spiced fruits (the dessert course) is making my mouth water. I will be back, again and again. And no matter where you live and/or are visiting in Northeastern Ohio, I implore you to visit Lucca. read more
