It's been a few years since I have updated my last review and wanted to share how strongly I feel about this business. Polish Market continues to be my go to market for Polish sausage in Metror Detroit. I have tied most if not all of the other well known named Polish centric markets in metro Detroit but for my money this Market makes the best sausage. Their large selection of tasty sausage with fair pricing is second to none. In particular, I consider their cherry wood sausage to be exceptional where this is my go to wood species when I do my own smoking which I do on a weekly basis. It adds such a good and unique flavor to meat that I am surprised that more smoked meat centric businesses in the area dont do it. Sausage aside, I like to buy their Polish cookies/treats from Polish Market for my 90 something year old in laws who are immigrants from Poland where they get a huge kick out of these baked goods that remind them of their heritage and original homeland. We have been here many times and my wife enjoys the stuff cabbage which is still very good. Today I ordered my usual kielbasa and sauerkraut both as to go orders. There was way too much sauerkraut and very little small slivers of kielbasa that looked old, tasted bland and totally destroyed my ever wanting to order it again. To think we drive all the way from Livonia for Naught. What a shame. read more

I've been visiting this Polish market for 20 years or so, and every December it feels like a minor pilgrimage to get ready for Christmas. The moment you walk through the door, the familiar smells bring back memories of my grandmother's house. They truly have everything: dry goods, a wide selection of pierogi, refrigerated items, fresh breads and baked goods, a full grocery section, and an incredible deli counter. Most of it comes straight from Poland, which makes the experience feel even more authentic. Christmas week can get busy, but they do their best to staff up, and while there's usually a line, it moves quickly enough. If you're looking for a genuine taste of Polish culture, this place is absolutely worth the visit. read more

This is an amazing Polish market store and there is always staff cleaning and organizing. I'm from California and we dont have a polish market. This place had everything from meats, cheeses, fresh breads, pastries, hot food, cold deli food and sweet treats. The selation of soups were amazing along with the peiorgis. I love visiting the store with my gramma to grab meats, soups, pastries, and canned/jarred goods. Seems like the staff works very well together whereas if the line at the register gets slightly backed up, another employee will open another line to ease the crowd. Store is always clean and organized very well. I think a lot of customers miss the chance to explore the back room with the authentic Polish canned goods, soups, pickles, and herbs. We come from Kentucky every few years to visit Detroit and the Polish Market is always on our must visit list. They have it all here. We bring a couple of coolers and bring back a bunch of pierogies, sausages and lots of good stuff. The Polish teas and candies are really great. read more

Great deli and bakery. However, staff has a nasty disposition. The cashiers act like they hate their job and don't want to be there. Never smile and just look disgusted that you are bothering them. For sure need an attitude adjustment. read more

The Polish market is by far my favorite cultural grocery store, the selection of European snacks is unmatched. I leave with more than I need every time. The employees are great, not all speak English but if you are PATIENT with them, you'll get great service at a quick pace. We drive from Ypsilanti just to go here. Everything is great. Bakery, hot food, canned goods (sardines with preserved lemons, smoked sprats), a meat counter of hams and sausages on par with any I've been to. An indispensable place for pantry staples. read more

I stop here every time I go to the east side. The hot food bar is excellent, if a bit pricey. Everything is 8.99 per pound. Doesn't matter if it's meat or green beans. The rye bread is amazing as is the selection of cold cuts and cheeses at the meat counter. Excellent soups in the refrigerated section. I love the dill pickle soup and the sliced lunchmeat, the hot kapusta and most of the pierogi. There are tons of jarred and boxed goods, too many to name. Some of the employees and customers speak Polish and can be a bit hard to understand but it works. It's usually busy and they can be somewhat abrupt sometimes, but I just go with the flow. Oh...the pickles in brine that you fish out yourself are excellent! Salty, just how I like them. Highly recommend! read more

This store is way better than driving to shop in Hamtramck at other stores but that's my "100 % Polish" opinion. I am always excited, happy and pleased to make the 15 minute drive here from my home to relax and take my time to shop for my taste bud likes. Today on May 23, I brought my Mom with me on a mission to buy many different Pierogi, to prepare along with Fresh and Smoked Kielbasa to cook from the meat counter. Mom loves her bakery bread so she wanted to buy 2 or 3 flavors based on the stock available. "Kasia" is the brand of pierogi I purchased with flavors of Sauerkraut, Potato Onion, and Potato Bacon. Mom loves and decided last minute to buy her favorite, Farmer's Cheese which is a sweet one! Mom also bought a jar of dill pickles and sliced beets on sale which she did share latervwith me. I bought a ring of fresh and smoked sausage to roast for one of my famous Polish Sunday dinners. Mom has trained me well (and in the 70's I always watched my Grandma Z. as a teenager in Hamtramck too at her farmhouse). My purchase for 6 items totaled $24.42 which was rung up by Ola a true polish employee. My photos attached show and explain the many reasons year round plus especially for the holidays to stop in here. I would shop till ya drop or spend your money in a tastefully and worthwhile way. I am always very pleased to walk in and view a clean and organized Polish store that has so much. The employees work hard here and are always friendly and enjoy their jobs. Inside there is a large deli, meat counter, bakery, refrigerated dairy section, frozen sections, grocery isles with Polish merchandise such as cookies, candies, wines, beers, canned or jars of soups, vegetables to name my favorites. Take my suggestion to stop in here for a few hours to shop before eating next door at the Polish restaurant... or better still shop After eating, to walk off the many calories from a delicious, wonderful homemade Polish Platter of food! :) Smachze! read more

I go there for Dill Pickle Soup to take home; heat and eat. If you want prepared food; I've enjoyed most of what I've tried. Great fresh breads. They also have a fresh meat/deli counter. Lots of authentic Polish foods and desserts. It's fun to checck everything out. read more

I always love coming here. Not only do they carry Polish products but also some German specialties. This place is super busy on the weekends so its best to come on the weekdays, maybe the middle of the week. I love their fresh baked buns and pretzels. Their homemade sausages, like kielbasa are the best! Prices are somewhat reasonable for import goods. Parking is ample and clean. read more

It's been quite a while since we've shopped here. This time we were on a mission to find the candies they had out as a courtesy in the entrance of Polka Polish Cuisine next door. There are plenty of other distractions as we wandered up and down the candy aisles and we finally had to ask by describing what we remembered about them as individually wrapped bite sized firm fruit jelly coated with dark chocolate. Still we had no luck. My wife suggested calling the restaurant to ask and so I did. They told me it is called Wawel and that the Polish Market definitely sells them. Armed with the name of what we were looking for, a young lady at the market quickly located them for us. They come in different bags ($2.99 each) with different groupings of flavors so we picked two of them to try. I had also been looking for a good Mini Gherkin Garlic Dill Pickle ($2.50) and, not finding exactly what I was looking for, I chose one labeled Old Country Style Polish Dill Pickles to try. This is a complete market with bakery, deli, produce, frozen, grocery, etc. I'll definitely need to come back when I have more time to browse as there are so many interesting things to buy and try. The Pickles I bought were of a sweet variety that was not really what I wanted but...I finished the whole jar in three days. Now we just have to ration the Wawel candy so we don't eat too many too fast! But now we know what and where they are so we can always replenish our supply. read more

One day my friend and I passed the market months ago and we could never stop thinking about it. Yesterday we finally went and got pierogies and a bunch more. I have found a new favorite candy (Nutella is involved)!! The bread is amazing and also the Bavarian pretzels. They have a wide selection of everything and they even have warm food! On the days leading up to any major holiday (Easter, Christmas, etc) you can probably find me strolling the aisles of one of the Polish Markets pushing one of the two carts my mom and I have stocked with traditional eats. For Easter you're likely to find a block of farmer's cheese, a butter lamb, a whole lotta sausage, smoked Canadian bacon, regular bacon, and big ol' hunks of ham. At Christmas you're likely to find some pierogies (cheese, potato, and sauerkraut) and little mushroom dumplings for the beet soup for Wigilia. Not mention a small envelope of opatek (wafer for sharing at dinner), a slew of candies, breads, and other baked goods. Everything is always tasty and pretty much a steal compared to other groceries. On any other given day you're likely to find an array of spices and herbs (seriously, so cheap. A bag full of nutmeg for like 2 dollars), premade goodies like blintzes, gobki, etc., a bottle of Oranada and/or Polish Fanta (highly superior to American Fanta. Trust me on this), and jarred purred beets, marinated mushrooms, and carrot salad. Oh, YUM. What I'm getting at here is they carry a lot. A lot of tasty eats. You can pretty much get everything you need here, both Polish and otherwise (but of course they lean more toward Polish brands). Admittedly I'm never blown away by the produce selection but they still have what you need. They even carry some Polish personal care products and medicines if you or your Buscia should require. Great prices, fantastic selection, and a little easier to get to than the Hamtramck location. I may frequent the other due to proximity but I do love both Polish Market's dearly! read more

Great food, options and beautiful paintings. Not sure what the bad service comment was about. We have had nothing but great experiences with staff. I had a few people taking my orders that spoke very limited English. If anything, it made the whole experience more interesting and they seem to employ people who know what they are doing. We appreciated the prices and the ability to get some European foods in the U. S. Very cool store! We love coming here. read more

After getting our first covid shot last Sunday we decided to stop by and pick up some often hard to find polish delicacies for a celebratory dinner that chili night. The kielbasa and pierogies we bought were great and I made a sour cream cucumber dill salad as well the selection and quality is hard to beat when you comes to Eastern European cuisine. read more

1st. Visit here in quite a while. Was very surprised they don't carry regular hot dogs in the meat department. Found an unknown brand of packaged dogs and decided to try them. They don't carry hot dog buns. Oh well another stop on the way home. Browsed the store semi quickly and nothing jumped out at me this trip. read more

Fantastic deli counter and bakery. Their polish sausage is excellent and in addition to picking some up to grill at home I have had some from their ready made counter as well. I have had a lot of different items from their bakery but my favorite is definitely the rustic rolls. read more
