I've driven by this place lots of times but hadn't stopped before. Today I was avoiding tunnel traffic and decided to pick up dinner otw home. Goggle gave several options to order in advance but no website. I checked yelp and the link took me to toast tab and listed a 45 min wait time. I had several people come in for pickup while researching from my car in the parking lot. When I went inside, there was no line and the cashier said it would only be able 10 min for an 8pc. He recommended okra, corn pudding, and Mac & cheese. I selected the last 2. There were benches to sit and wait for your to go order. There was also a dinning room to the right of the order counter. I'm not sure if they bring the food to you or call your name because no one was in the dinning room. There were kitschy sayings and pictures on the wall. While I was waiting, a gentleman came out of the restroom and told the.cashiers that they might want to check out the men's room because it was disgusting. The other cashier stated it's always that way. That's not exactly the attitude you want to see at a restaurant. Hopefully kitchen cleanliness is more important to staff. My food was ready shortly thereafter. The chicken had good. The Mac and cheese was the consistency of stouffers but I'm not sure if was made in store or Sysco variety. The corn pudding tasted better than it looked after being scooped out. There were fried puff biscuits that you can drizzle with honey. I didn't try any of the desserts but there were a lot to chose from.

After living in Hampton Roads for about 3 years, I finally had a chance to try Pollards chicken. I went with a 3 piece meal and they gave me all dark chicken, I guess they're a little bit short on white. I'm very glad that they had cinnamon apples as an option, way too few places have apples. I also got mashed potatoes and while they were very hearty and creamy, they were a little bit too heavy on the gravy for my liking. I ordered a large tea to drink and I asked for half sweet/half unsweet. Unfortunately the tea I got was completely unsweet. After a few minutes, the staff fixed that issue. The chicken was quite good, the skin is very crispy, the meat was juicy, although I couldn't really taste much in the way of spices and seasonings. But a little honey and hot sauce was decent enough. Good solid place.

    8 pieces to go please.

Hands down : it's the best fried chicken. The flavor is not only in the coating but also in the chicken meat itself. It's juicy and the white meat is not dry at all. Do yourself a favor if you enjoy fried chicken and eat the best.

It was just ok. The cashier had no problem cursing in front of me about the rude guest who left his mess on the counter after he ate like he had a maid. I thought he was a jerk, but I wouldn't have felt that comfortable to curse that much in front of another guest. She was mad. I understood. I just didn't need that in front of my young son. The boneless chicken breast sandwich was dry and so were my lovers and gizzards. The cook over cooked everything. I guess it was because she was so busy eating at the same time. I rarely come to this location. I won't say I won't go back. I will just try going earlier in the day. I made it about an hour before they closed.

Earlier this month while in Norfolk, we decided to Head over to Newport New to visit my Cuz and her daughter and agreed to bring lunch rather than calling in an order from their house. Chicken was a hit. We got two boxes of chicken and two boxes of sides. It was more than enough for the four of us with four or five pieces left over, i.e. tomorrow's lunch. Thank goodness there was little tunnel traffic and we arrived with hot chicken and sides. The hot chicken is the best part about Pollard's. The chicken is not cooked until it is ordered. The sides are well above average. COVID 19 rules are enforced. Parking is plentiful.

Chicken Filet dinner... C'mon Man!!! That's a single chicken nugget. Wtf!

The Mac and cheese is awesome! The "chicken filet dinner" was not. Whoever put a nugget in there, the size of an onion ring needs to set-up an appointment with the optometrist. What did I do to deserve this kind of service? I ordered online... I wasn't rude... scratching my head.

Rotisserie breast and a wing. SUPER SMALL! Compared to a quarter.

This review is solely for the rotisserie chicken breast/wing meal. I eat chicken often and this is with out a doubt the worst rotisserie chicken meal ever. It was so small it was comedic! The chicken was also dry. The sweet potato had little to no taste. We called to complain and the manager claimed "the chicken was cooked in the morning and we should have got an additional piece if it was that small." He also implied, they had a new person and he apologized. Sounds like poor training and even more POOR quality!! My favorite chicken wing place in Norfolk pays extra money to get better quality chicken from the food distributor. I challenge Pollards to do a review of the quality of their chicken (rotisserie).

More bone than anything on this chicken thigh.

The best pulled pork in the Tidewater area. Good puffs and fresh fried chicken. I usually eat at least one piece on my way home.

We started off with the Pastel wrapped in banana leaves, Alcapurrias and relleno de papas. I give the pastel a 4.5 out of five. The relleno de papas a 4 out of five and the Alcapurrias a 3 out of 5. Keep in mind I am comparing this to my mother's home cooking. The pastel was almost perfect. The meat as seasoned very well but not as tender as what my mother used to make. The masa was perfect! The relleno de papas was seasoned very differently than what I am accustomed to but still very yummy. The Alcapurrias were lacking in flavor. My son ordered the Bistec Encebollado with Rice and beans and he was so happy that this dish was very close to our family recipe. My daughter in law ordered the Pernil sandwich which she absolutely loved. My son tasted it and said it was the best he'd ever eaten! My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich which he said had a Puerto Rican flair to it. Puerto Rican Pernil is much different than Cuban Roast Pork which is what he is used to as we live in Miami, FL I only had the appetizers as I was not too hungry to begin with but I was able to taste everything and this restaurant is being added to my favorites list! I will be coming here every time I visit my family. The service was quick and very friendly!

This gives the appearance of being closed. Parking is limited and located behind the restaurant and the adjacent law office. When making reservations my son was told to watch for the law office. The restaurant seating is relatively small with a large, spacious bar behind a separating wall. We were greeted by a friendly & jovial host who immediately seated us. Our two person table was comfortable with padded seats. My seat was next to a window ledge which was the perfect spot for my purse. The menu options were an absolute "WOW". Once I saw the daily specials, I knew exactly what I would order. The House-made Venison Sausage with White beans, Sea Island peas, kale, persimmons in country ham jus came with two large sausage links and an ample amount of the rest of the dish. It was a delicious mix, definitely enough to have served two. My son's entree was the Tile Fish with squash grocchi, mushrooms & brown butter vinaigrette. He proclaimed it excellent. We began the meal with appetizers. I chose the Grilled Cabbage with garlic yogurt, apples & castelvetranos. My choice was excellent. But when I saw my son's Oyster Stew with potatoes & thyme, I immediately craved it. After the meal we first declined dessert. But I decided just to take a look. What I saw sounded amazing. There was no way I could pass up the Combread Pudding in Toffee sauce with whipped cream & encrusted with candled pecans. Begging my son to share it with me, he promised only to take a bite. When he tasted that wonderful concoction he changed his mind and shared. The Cornbread Pudding is absolutely amazing. The restaurant changes their menu often. The menu items are unique dishes that offer options you won't find elsewhere. There is absolutely nothing I found wrong with LeGrand Kitchen. It was perfection.

In 2023, they closed their original location of Shore Drive and set sights on a new local which was expanded. They have finally reopened and we got a chance to stop in to see how they were doing. Let's check it out shall we? We were seated a minute after walking in. There were a few people dining inside on this cloudy day. The decor is nice resembling a type of restaurant you may see in New Orleans. Right when I was looking through the menu, I ran into Chef Moe who greeted me with a handshake. It has been years since we last saw each other but the vibes came right back since Sophia and I were long-standing customers. We couldn't talk long since he was busy, but it was great to run into him again smiling from ear to ear seeing me there. Great people indeed. How was the food you might ask? Pretty damn good. We both ordered their fried catfish meals with sides (mine came with fries and sweet cornbread and Sophia's with mashed potatoes and gravy and mac-and-cheese). The fish was seasoned perfectly and was huge. It was big enough to cover a football field (just kidding). The fries, as always, tasted great and the cornbread was delish. The both of us ended up taking home leftovers where the food didn't lose any taste from before. It was so refreshing to stop by after so many years. And it was wonderful seeing Chef Moe continue to bring good vibes to the Norfolk community through his cooking. You know we'll be back soon. Till next time :)

The atmosphere definitely makes a good first impression. As far as the food and customer service, everything was just okay for me. I ordered the shrimp, fish, crab cakes, and chicken wings. The crab cakes were mostly bread, which was a little disappointing. The wings were okay overall, but one of the wings was extremely feathery, so that definitely threw me off. One thing I would recommend is giving customers a little more sauce/condiments. I asked for vinegar to go with my shrimp, fish, and crab cakes, and I received what was basically a teaspoon of vinegar. I definitely needed more than that! I will say, I think I enjoyed Mama's Kitchen more at their previous location. I used to get a variety of their food (with the exception of the macaroni), and I remember enjoying it more. Maybe I just caught them on an off day, so I'd be willing to give them another try and see if my experience is different next time. Overall, the new location is beautiful, but the food was just okay for me this time around.
