Adding to the poor experience, one of the girls behind the counter was playing around and massaging her coworkers while customers were being served. That level of unprofessional behavior is not something anyone wants to see while waiting for their food. I did want to try a few picks off the menu to have a perspective of what the offerings could be. I decided to go with the 3 piece dark meat combo with fries, 4 piece spicy tenders with brown gravy and the 3 boudain balls promotional special with fries. Each came with an individual roll expect for the boudain. The boudain has a nice size and filling to it. I would like it as a quick bite if you are not looking for anything chicken related. The 3 piece dark meat has that nice crunch and juicy bite flavor, one thigh, breast and leg. Breading is not thin or thick, just right. The tenders are a bit darker due to the added spice but does have a nice kick but not overpowering. There was a selection of either brown or white gravy but the standard to me always is brown that went well with everything. The rolls are buttery and airy and different from the biscuit varieties of other businesses. Overall it was a solid visit to Hartz chicken. It is a bit to compare because each restaurant is known for their products when it comes to fried chicken. But stopping in was a different experience. I have no complaints but what could be an interesting take is to see the sides on display. Also would be the roll shape since it resembles a mushroom but it's baked from a muffin tin which explains it. I ordered a 2-piece and a 3-piece combo to go. When I got home and opened the box, the first thing that hit me was the strong smell of fried fish. I thought I was imagining it, but I took one bite of the chicken and it was undeniable: the chicken had been fried in the same oil as the fish. When I called the store to politely let them know about the cross-contamination, the owner became incredibly aggressive. Instead of apologizing or offering to remake the order, he argued with me like I was lying. He then proceeded to yell at me and ultimately hung up the phone on me. I understand mistakes happen in kitchens, but to be treated with that level of disrespect and hostility by the owner for simply reporting a problem is unforgivable.
