If yelp did not exist (along with any other apps to find restaurants) you would question the outside of this place. Thankfully we do have such apps because once I tried this place I instantly fell in love with the carne asada tacos. The flavor of the meat, the softness of the tortilla, the generous amounts of onion and cilantro......all come together to make a great taco. Now I will say that this place is quite far from where I live and the wife and I tried to find something that can satisfy our taco hunger that is closer. We have been to many places and they just do not beat this place. The people that work there are so nice and always remember us even when we have not visited in a while which just adds to the experience. Great little hole-in-the-wall restaurant. I drive by every day since moving to the neighborhood, and it's always busy. I drove by today and thought the parking lot looked less full so stopped in. Unfortunately it was still too full inside to find a seat so I took it to go. I got 3 transmission tacos, a side of beans and a side of rice for $10.56. Food was ready within 7 minutes. The owner woman was helpful in my decision for what to order. Tacos were delicious (especially the tortillas). Mild sauce is quite mild. I'll probably get spicy next time. The best of everything is here at Polo Express and at very reasonable prices. My favorite is the #18 Carnitas and for my girlfriend, of course, the puffy tacos. The family that owns and operates this establishment are such great people. Get to know them. We drive quite a distance at least once a week, just to enjoy every part of the experience. If you are hungry get a Kansas Burrito, full of happy little potatoes and many more yummy burrito stuff. Super nachos between 3 and 5 are discounted, more than enough as a meal by itself. I don't live near pollo express but every time my daughter has soccer practice at the south YMCA I start to crave Pollo Express's chicken or steak quesadillas. Best quesadillas I've ever had. I've ate there a ton of times and have never been disappointed. The staff are always friendly too, which is another plus. If you're in a hurry, call your order in ahead of time because the drive through time is lengthy. So recommend carry out. read more

This place really tries, I will give it that. It tries to handle all the people that come in with only one server. But doesn't manage to get back around to your table to refill drinks or give you the check, or clear tables after the fact. They try to fit in that small, rundown shop and make good food and no worry about ambiance but the cracks in the floor peeling paint it has its effect. read more

Carnitas taco, transmission taco, and refried beans were all great. These are street tacos with two corn tortillas on each taco. The carnitas has a nice crispiness and great flavor served with onions and cilantro. The transmission taco is carna asada with lots of extra spices and sauted onions rather than raw. Both were bigger than the average street taco and very filling. The people were very nice, too. read more

I think I've finally found the best Mexican restaurant in Wichita. I had the shredded beef tacos and chicken burrito. The rice and beans were amazing. I look forward to trying the roasted chicken. I stopped in for lunch after checking Yelp for nearby places. It's a small restaurant that quickly began filling up with dine in and take out orders a few minutes after I arrived. My review is in line with the majority of the others. This is really an exceptional Mexican food restaurant in comparison with even higher end Mexican restaurants in Wichita. I've tried a lot of Mexican food in Wichita and I'm picky. I especially like the beef enchiladas dinner and I also like the hard shell beef tacos. The salsa is very tasty and my favorite of any other in town. But that's not all, I also love their refried beans and rice, lettuce tomato, that come with the dinners. It's very well-balanced. I have even brought leftovers home and reheated them in my toaster oven for dinner and the meal tasted just as fresh and delicious as it did for lunch. Don't reheat in a microwave though, use the oven. The service is very pleasant but can be a little slower when they are are busy. The way to get around this is to come earlier or later than the normal 12 p.m. lunch time or order takeout. Again, if you are a little on the inpatient side, come later than the normal lunch crowd at 12 p.m or phone in and order carry out. It's well worth it! read more

Great food and great value. The food is hot and fresh and lots of it. The Super Nachos are amazing with chicken or beef and the quesadillas are huge! The staff is friendly and always smiling. On the down side the drive thru order station does not work, but pull right up to the window and they will take your order there. This is authentic. I love the Chihuahua style red chili. The lunch special from the hot table is one of the best lunch deals around, 3 items for $5.50 and the horchata is legit, made in house daily.
