Went to pollo tropical on gateway and Congress tonight 5/07/18 at 8:54pm Ordered my food like I normally do pull up to the window and say to the cashier (Matthew) hello! Matthew gives me a blank stare and turns his head then says $10.79. I say to Matthew again hello how are you clenching my money in my hand and then he says hi dryly and proceeds!! Please stop putting individuals on the drive-thru who have zero customer service skills (Saturday, 10/6/2018 @ 3:15pm). Chicken in my tropichop was dry and over cooked! You ask for extra sauces to get home and not have them. Young man at the window acted as if I was bothering him. He was very impatient. Their family chicken size meal is enough for 1 person the chicken was chopped off into tiny pieces the size of a pigeon, yet it still quite pricy for what you get. Better off driving to publix a few miles down the road and get a bigger bird to feed a family of four. read more

5/1/2019 the whole staff needs to be fired. One thing that's strange it's Hispanic food and not one person working their is Hispanic which is a small but weird issue. Maybe the manager is racist towards Hispanics. When me and my party of 6 walked in at 6:30pm it was completely empty, and you would think they would use this time to clean and stock nope!!!! They were all hanging behind the counter while some were working the rest were just talking as if they weren't at work. The cashier was polite and professional. But the rest of the staff aside from a few cooks weren't doing anything. The store was absolutely filthy every table and the floors. The sauce bar looked like it hadn't been cleaned all day and when I left it was still filthy. There were no utensils sauces or basically anything needed at the actual bar. Even after the rush they never came out to clean the times is 7:21pm and they are all behind the counter managers look at your camera. The manager needs to be fired as well as the crew. This use to be a great place to eat but it's a dump now. Pollo you should be ashamed I've been to bathrooms at truck stops cleaner then this. read more

Fast, easy and yummy! My daughter has never been here and after a long day at school and then running errands after she wanted rice and beans! so this is where we went. There was many people in both the drive thru and inside. We ordered and waited a bit. The sauce bar is great my daughter loves being able to pick out what she wanted with her food. The kids meal is a perfect portion for my 7year old! She ate it all and was full. However my meal wasn't really worth the money. I got a quesadilla that came with a salad. I should of gotten the chicken meal for the price and lack of food I got. I guess that's what happens when you try something new. It was not that great tasting either. read more

I wish i had read the bad reviews before coming to this location. The young guy who took my order outside sounded miserable like he didn't want to be there. But the young woman at the drive in window really pissed me off talking to the guy next to her the whole time, sticking her hand out to hand me my credit card without turning in my direction. She was more concerned with conversing with her coworker instead of providing customer service which is part of the job. They never realize that the customer is paying their salary not the coworker that they are jabbering with. The problem with bad customer service is it makes you wonder how much effort they're putting into the food. The three main things with restaurants is food, service and cleanliness and if your not providing all three you should get another job. It always comes down to bad management. Believe me, I hate doing a self imposed ban on a place. Especially when the place is supposed to be quick, easy and convenient. But honestly I have had it with the Boynton Beach Pollo Tropical. On multiple occasions they have screwed up my orders and I have let it pass but yesterday my experience there was the proverbial straw that broke the horse's back. While I will be the first to admit that this location gets busier than an early bird special during season, I waited 25 minutes in line to even place my order. Once I ordered my straight forward Tropichop I began another wait. Over 20 minutes later I heard number after number that was after my order be called. I looked at the screens that are above the prep stations that show the orders and see mine still sitting there. Yet while those orders sit up there I see every person behind the counter playing around with receipts. Why are they not just using the screens? They appear to be working. They are counting how fucking long my order had been sitting there. When I finally brought it up to an employee they asked for my receipt, this is the same employee that took my order. She quickly made my meal, gave it to me and threw out my receipt. No "I'm sorry" or any explanation. I also wanted my receipt so that I could take the survey (not my first time) to express my displeasure (again not my first time). The employee refused to give it back, probably because they knew why I wanted it back. Well that was it. I really enjoy Pollo's food. It's affordable and filling but they take the fast out of fast food and make it a mission just to get your meal. I've heard multiple customer complain before and I used to just write it off but the past year of trying to dine from this place has been less than a pleasure. The last time I was sick I was in and out of the MD Now across the parking lot quicker than I was in and out Pollo. I would call getting a root canal almost more of a pleasurable experience than going to this Pollo. I've seen that there a few hidden reviews of this place on here. Likely from a manager or franchise owner that doesn't want them seen. And you know my review very well might end up there but I frankly don't give a fuck anymore. If that is the case I say this... Dear Boynton Beach Pollo Tropical Owner/Manager, You need to put a boot in the ass of your employees to do better or get them the fuck out of there. It has become blatantly obvious that they are not capable of doing their jobs. And while I am not for people losing their job in this economic climate I am just not for dumb. They can not take a simple order with out forgetting to put things in or leaving things off. They will sometimes forget entire meals on the order. How does this happen? Inept employees is how that happens. I've left "feedback" on your online surveys before and asked to be contacted about my experiences to no avail. This Pollo is trash. Gave it another try and tropichop was dry, barely any beans or chicken in the regular size (large) one. I asked for sauce at the window to no avail, and my shrimp wrap had maybe one shrimp in it and after specifically saying no tomatoes, there were tomatoes... get it together. Slowest, most unfriendly staff who improperly makes the simplest of orders. Everything ordered straight off the menu, 1 lite wrap, 1 small soup, 1 salad. 1 person ahead of us with a tiny order, before the lunch rush, and yet each of our orders took 10 minutes. The wrap was a pool of salad dressing with chicken and a few shreds of lettuce inside. It's a fast food place, I don't mistake them for A 5-star restaurant. I visited above location on a Sunday and ordered a dinner special which was advertised for $5.99 everyday. Cashier charged me $7.99 which I questioned, he told it was only offered during the week. Puzzled I asked to speak to the manager which was a bigger mistake. When I pointed to the flyer on the windows and reiterated the offer is for every day, she said something to me which I did not understand, she turned her back and walked away. She obviously said something to the people on the line, they turned to me and sneakered. I asked the cashier for her name, he played stupid and said he did not know. He turned to the manager and told her that I wanted her name, she whispered something to him and he started laughing. I sure it was not happy birthday. Besides the bad experience with the incompetent manager, the condiment bar was filty, the woman cleaning it was using a fry rag which just spread the mess, very unappetizing. The tables were not much better, one dirtier than the other. I sent an email to corporate, got an answer from customer service, I replied 3 or 4 times and got no response. So I guess that is why the stores run the way they do. read more

Can't go wrong here. My husband and I eat here at least once a week. Just a quick hint: the drive through is EASILY 10 times faster than going inside- no joke. Look I love Pollo Tropical, I love the food but this location is unacceptably dirty. I have been to many locations such as the one in Delray Beach, Boca Raton, and even Orlando where the service, the maintenance, and even the customer service is better. The tables are never kept clean, I 100% that people come in and trash the place and that it's their faults, but as a restaurant their job is to make sure the location is clean and sanitary. No one should ever have to eat next to mosquitoes due to the food on tables and on the windows! The customer service was terrible, we (my family and other customers) basically had to ask for them to clean where one would get sauces and drinks. When they would run out of containers for sauces, we received dirty looks and responses as if we are trying to bother them. Overall this location needs to be maintained clean, it's not hard to have one person to look around for a mess and clean it up!! I hope this location improved because I don't know how anyone is supposed to enjoy their food with low quality service. read more

The worst Pollo I've ever been to! The management has their heads buried so deep in the sand they consistently fail to improve the customer experience. I've literally been waiting in this drive through for 25minutes and if their drive through was not designed to trap you I would have left 10x by now. The reason it takes so long to get through the drive through other than crappy employees is the fact that their point of sale system consistently has issues. I was here two months ago and was told repeatedly that something was wrong with my credit cards. 5 cards they went through! Each time not accepting the fact that their credit card system was broke. Service is usually terrible depending on who serves you. The place could definitely improve on cleanliness and drive through orders. I would def order inside its much faster. DO NOT EAT AT THIS LOCATION...IT'S FILTHY!!! My husband I placed our order and we noticed that the lids to cover the beans and the rice hit the floor. The girl preparing the food picked them up off the floor and placed them back with the other lids. So we brought it to the managers attention and mentioned how the food prep station is FILTHY. She said it was busy and they didn't have time to clean?? WOW!! WE WERE THE ONLY ONES IN LINE!!! The longer we waited the more we noticed. The people preparing the food would LITERALLY prepare other meals from the drive-thru right on top of the meals for the dine in customers. It was a hot mess!! We were watching on horror!! The manager was flipping chicken. She was previously handling money and had a clip board in one hand and flipping chicken with the other - no hair net. We no longer visit this location. I am originally from Miami and I'm Cuban. So, with that said I can assure you that Pollo Tropical is one of my favorite chain restaurants. Except this one. I've tried it 3 times now and I was hoping they would improve since I've made mention of my complaints to the managers in charge. First of all, their black beans are awful. Not only do they taste bland the color of the beans is a very watered down black. The rice is always hard... always. And their new Noodle Chicken Soup is like eating a mush of noodles no liquid and they put so much salt in the soup one tablespoon of it will have you drinking water for hours. I'm super disappointed since I am at minimum a 1X per week customer and I lliterally live down the street from them but I will have to travel to another one to satisfy my cravings. I am glad to see they are replacing the old drive thru menu since it used to be after the microphone and ordering was a big hassle especially when it was raining. read more

For a fast food place, this was really, really tasty! It's not expensive, and the portions are great for the dollar. Chicken was excellent, as is their mojo roast pork. Rice and beans, yuca, maduros...yummy! I took away a star because the tables were dirty from the lunch crowd and they were out there cleaning...just not very well. read more

Terrible Customer Service - Food is edible. On the window of the restaurant there is an offer for a free Tropichop if I sign up and download their app. I did that. I was told that when I entered the bar code of today's bill when I returned, I would get the free Tropichop. About three weeks later I returned, entered the bar code and got a message that it expired. The was no warning on the bill or on the window so I call head office customer service. They never called back. I did follow up calls and no one called or sent me an email. Terrible customer service. As for the food. Lucille's bad to the Bone restaurants are better. Well yesterday Feb 26 2019 I went back to the restaurant to speak to the manager Freddy. He said that he could not honor the offer even though there was no expiry date. He suggested that I call head office. I told him that I did and they never replied to my email. His answer was they most likely don't care. They must have had other complaints. If I could rate lower than one star I would. My husband and I have been loyal customers at this location for almost 10 years. Tonight will be the last night that I will ever eat at this establishment ever again. Not only did everyone that placed their order before have to wait an extremely long time, but attitude of the servers behind the line was unreal. We watched the servers stand there for approximately 11 minutes and did absolutely nothing. We got so frustrated we timed it on our iphonres! Not one order came across the counter at all. When the food did arrive it was NOT great and we didn't even get the drink cups that came with the total meal purchase. The chicken was overcooked and had crispy burnt tips. It's sad to say since the management at this establishment changed a while back it seems that the people who work there don't care about serving the public. We have been dining here for years since it opened. The food is great but sometimes the chicken is dry. THE REAL PROBLEM is complete orders. The counter staff joke about the idiots filling orders at the drive through but the counter is little better. I can count only 3 complete orders out of about 25. ALWAYS CHECK YOU ORDER THOROUGHLY before leaving this establishment. We loved the Chicken Fajita, when they had them, but EVERY TIME they messed up the order. We believe the product was too complicated for the non-English speakers that work there. I attempted to drive-thru just after opening. No one was at the window or taking orders. I circled back to the front, along with 2 other customers & parked. I called the store & a woman answered and advised they were open. I went back to the drive-thru to place an order. Upon ordering I was told "I don't have any chicken ready" and it would take 30 mins. First problem here is they restaurant day then open at 10am, therefore someone should be here early enough to have service ready. Secondly, it does not take 30 mins to prepare fried chicken!
