I have had pollo tropical before with no issues, but 2 days ago I ordered the half chicken, rice and beans and woke up at 3 am with food poisoning. I looked at the chicken bones and realized it wasn't cooked all the way through. I've never experienced food poisoning before but I can tell you the last 2 days were among the most miserable I've ever experienced. I don't wanna write off the entire company for one persons mistake because it is good food for a fair price but there's no excuse for what happened to me. There should be some better regulation to ensure that this never occurs again. I was very sick and now 3 days later just beginning to feel more normal. My first Pollo visit since moving down to FL from NY. The place was clean and the food was excellent. Very good value for the $$$. I got the Quesadilla salad and a small chix quesadilla on the side. The only reason it didn't get a 5 is b/c the girl at the register was not very friendly at all. Seemed like she didn't want to be there at all. Terrible restaurant - I give this restaurant one star because there are no zero star ratings. Long lines at the drive through while employees are cheat chatting behind the counter. The manager doesn't know what she is doing and has a don't care attitude. The place is filthy and disorganized. Employees lack training and don't know what to do or how to treat customers. Really disappointed with the service I just went through drive thru and gave the girl my order when I got to the window the order was wrong, I wasn't mad about it...it happens so I just simply said to her "sorry this isn't what I ordered sorry if you misunderstood me" with a smile, she rolled her eyes and then asked again what I ordered then gave it to me and slammed the window in my face she didn't say sorry or anything so rude!!! I visited this location today 2/28/20 with my partner and had the worst service ever. So much for a quick lunch, we waited inside to order for 20 minutes. When it was my time to order the cashier named "Alexis", "Alexia" simply said "come on." Beyond rude service for a Pollo Tropical. I understand it's lunch time rush but do your job right and be polite, stop hiring so many incompetent people who clearly don't care about being employed. Food wasn't terrible. It's hit or miss sometimes here. The nasty part is the ever present homeless guy who constantly uses the same serving spoons as you for the sauces. It's ridiculous! Not a good pollo. I live a few streets away and have been trapped in their drive-thru for over 20 min twice. Both times (mind you, was in the same week) they ran out of chicken :/ they did have chicken for the tropi-chop and both times this is what I ordered to find out that they were also out of yellow rice. In the end the rice was very wet and soggy. Also, on the second occasion the chicken looked boiled and stringy. Yuck! I'm glad to bring the rating down a notch here.. The one time I went inside there was a customer who was upset complaining that his order was wrong as was the last time he visited. Ordered online thru grubhub but I received the wrong order, my order was $15. I tried calling pollo tropical but they didn't answer the phone the whole 30 minutes I tried to get a hold of them. Then I called corporate they sent the GM a email and told me I had to resolve my issue with that location. I called back by the fourth try they answered and I asked to speak to the manager I was transferred and asked for her name, she answered the phone with tremendous attitude and refused to give me her name until I told her mine. So I calmly explained my situation to Rene and she told me to come back and they will correct the situation (I'm at work and I can't leave the store hence why I had it delivered) so once again I explained it to her she told me there is nothing she can do her exact words were "I can't call grubhub I can't help you" (I've had an issue before with a previous resturant and with my order number they were able to help me out) I felt like I was a nussiance and wasting her time and she didn't want to help resolve the situation instead she brushed me off and was beyond rude. If you want real authentic Cuban food take your business to three palms cafe or even little Havana resturant it's a bit pricey but so worth it. Don't waste your time with a location that doesn't care to comprehend customer service and Rene needs a enormous sensitivity training class or she needs to quit working with the public she needs to understand customers first and as a representative of pollo tropical she gave me a bad experience. Believe me when I say last time they will get a penny from me, especially when I work so hard and give outstanding customer service so I can earn my pennies. Worst service ever waited 30 mins for some damn rice and beans and some chicken the slowest I've seen in years

I need a quick "healthy" lunch for my 2 year old. I place an online order for pickup at this store. There's a sign at the store "Online pickups here", I'm standing there for a few minutes, no one looks at me. I finally get the attention of someone.. "are you talking to me?" (No lady, I'm talking to the air while staring at you..). She says she'll come back with my order. After 5 minutes she comes back "what is it that you ordered?" I said "it's a big order.." I haven't finished talking when she rolls her eyes at me.. She leaves for a while and comes back with 1 bag with 1 item inside. I tell her all the items I'm missing. She leaves and ignores me for a while. Comes back 5 min later "what is it that you're missing"... I breathe in and out and tell her all the items missing. At this point my toddler is fussy, she's hungry, she doesn't want to be held any longer.. I'm desperate.. the lady comes back with 1 item in 1 bag, leaves again. After 10 more minutes I called the manager, he gets the rest of my items missing and apologizes. In total I was standing there for 30 minutes! 30! What did I do wrong? Was this lady doing me a favor? Isn't she supposed to be doing her job? Why download the app and pay before hand? Why go here again? read more

It's been two hours and I am still wearing my rage face. I am appalled at the quality of service I received this evening and I will never return to this location. I came in just after ten- the restaurant doesn't close until twelve. I began by ordering a #1 with rice and beans. The cashier glaces nervously behind himself at a mostly empty pan of dry looking chicken parts sitting under a heat lamp. Whatever, I think to myself, it's a four dollar meal. Next I place my second order, a chicken spinach wrap which is currently their feature item. The cashier informs me that they don't have any wraps available. I'm thinking okay, maybe they just ran our of wraps, no big deal. I switch over to a chipotle chicken sandwich combo with cheesy yuca bites as my side. Hold on, the cashier says, and he walks over to two women moving equipment around. He comes back and informs me that there are no yuca bites available. Again, I don't think it's a big deal so I ask for fries instead. "We can't make that either" he responds. I am really frustrated at this point. I can't have the sandwich I want, I can't have the sides I want and the one meal I can have looks disgusting. When I ask why the sides I want aren't available, I am informed that they are only serving food that has been pre-made because they are cleaning and shutting the kitchen down. Keep in mind this is a full TWO HOURS before their scheduled closing time. There were customers in the dining room, there were customers in line; I can only imagine how many people weren't able to eat what they came for. I closed out my order and left. If the staff isn't competent enough to serve the food I definitely don't think they are competent enough to follow sanitation and safety guidelines.
