After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and bring them to the attention of the public. And this Atomic Wings is the perfect example. Dedicated to serving a wide range of all natural jumbo wings and other menu items, Atomic Wings offers halal chicken at any spice level and a variety of dipping sauces to suit any taste bud. The founder of Atomic Wings did so by fullfiling his dream of recreating the hot, crispy wings he had once eaten during his college days in Buffalo, New York. Today at around 5:30pm I went with a friend to check this new place out. It had reasantly celebrated it's Grand Opening a few days ago, and still had some of the balloons decorations of the event attached to the outdoor columns of its building architectural design. When we entered I was surprised to find some customers eating there and others waiting for their To Go orders. The owner of the new restaurant came out and gave us a warm welcome, greeting us himself in person. He had a nice, friendly personality, and just by meeting him I could already anticipate the success of this new restaurant. Their menu was well lit and hanging high above. Their prices were very reasonable and they had a nice variety of chicken items besides their famous Wings, such as Chicken Tenders and Chicken Sandwiches, and for dessert, Fried Oreo Cookies. For those who enjoy a cold beer in a hot Summer day, they had both Bottled Beers and Tap Beers, as well as Beer by the Pitcher. They also had regular fountain drinks and milkshakes. And for fries, from Fresh-Cut Fries, to Waffle Fries, to even Tater Tots. The lady at the counter greeted us and took our order. We both ordered the #3 Combo Meal with 5 pieces of Chicken Tenders, Fresh-Cut Fries, and a fountain drink. My friend had Root Beer and I had Dr Pepper. They also had Pepsi and Southern Style H & C Brand Ice Tea. They charged for the order and took my first name to call us when the order was ready. When they called my name and recognized who I was, they immediately brought the order to our table without given us a chance to go pick it up. This is what I call service. Going above and beyond ones highest expectations even in the little things. When I saw the tray they had brought me, and placed on our table right there in front of me, I was mesmerized by the size of the Chicken Tenders and by the great amount of Fries served. But just as if this wasn't surprisingly enough, when I tasted the first Chicken Tender, it was so crispy on the outside and so soft and juicy in the inside, and so tasty, even before dipping them in the sauces they provided. The fresh-cut fries had their natural flavor that stood out and were fried in such a way that were crunchy on the outside and soft and moist in the inside. As we were enjoying our meal. We arrived in this cramped front area, and someone sat us at a booth at a reasonable time. We sat in the booth over 10 minutes without anyone coming to even get us water or check on here. We were hungry, and I was already annoyed for this long wait and was looking on Yelp. I asked my g/f about trying Bella Vita, which she agreed and left about 15 minutes after being seated. It was a big disappointment. However, after my 5-star Yelp review of Bella Vita (which I got to reviewing in April 2025), my g/f said Bella Vita is a better Italian than Vinny's, so maybe for the best. Since I didn't actually eat at Vinny's in the end, wasn't actively denied water, or had some other terrible experience, it would be unfair to give than 1-star in this case.

We explained that the only reason we ordered the appetizer was because we were hungry and expected it to come out before the main meal. Since it clearly wasn't coming first, we let her know we no longer wanted the appetizer. Ten minutes after the promised "five minutes," I went back to ask for another update. At that point, the hostess stated that our entire order had been cancelled and no food would be coming out. I explained there had been a misunderstanding...we only wanted to cancel the appetizer, not the entire order. We had been sitting there for over an hour waiting, so obviously we had not intended to cancel everything. The hostess repeatedly cut me off, insisted we had cancelled the whole order, and was extremely rude throughout the interaction. She then told us our food was sitting behind the counter if we wanted it. When she rang us up, she initially charged only for the appetizer part of the order. After I clarified again that we still wanted the pizzas and pasta, she re-rang the order for over $50. To make matters worse, the restaurant was uncomfortably hot (over 80 degrees inside.) My toddler was so hungry from the long wait that my sister had to walk down the street to Food Lion to buy her something to eat while we waited. The most frustrating part was that no one ever apologized, acknowledged the excessive wait, or seemed concerned about what had happened. After all of that, we finally got the food home only to discover that it was both cold and burnt. Delays happen, and we would have understood if the restaurant had simply communicated with us. Now, with that being set allow me to also note that I have only eaten take out from this place. They offer a buffet during lunch and dinner, but I prefer to eat my chinese food in front of the TV on my couch, so take out it is. My preferred meal of choice here is the small sized chicken and broccoli with white rice. Believe me when I say the small sized is more than enough for one meal, even if you're starving. They also have very tasty general tsos chicken which comes with a cabbage egg roll. I always swap out the fried rice for white rice, but that is merely a personal preference. All the take out options are reasonably priced and always fresh. Every time I have placed a take out order it has been ready exactly when they stated it would be. Don't be alarmed if they ask for your phone number when ordering as they use your number, not your name, to keep take out orders straight. The counter to pick up your order is located directly in front of you as you open the door so you don't have to waltz across the whole restaurant to pick up your food. If you're a lover of soy sauce like me then I would suggest asking for a few more packs as they usually only give one or two packs, but for some reason always include hot mustard regardless of what I order.
