Stopped by for a quick bite sometime, and boy were they busy. They have indoor seating and outdoor tables with a stage where live bands sometimes play. The service was quick and not too bad. My family and I have been coming here for the last 4-5 years and it has gone downhill drastically. The food size has been reduced, the drinks have become tasting worst as well as the food being super bland, dry , and hard. I've tried mostly everything on the menu and it seems all the same. The service has always been great though. Very responsive and respectful waitresses/waiters. The kitchen and bar needs some attention to make this place great again. read more

Heard this is the place to be when the weather is warm/hot. i didn't have my chance to eat anything, it was a short visit. My family and I got long island ice tea's and they were good. The venue outside is great. Lots of places to sit or stand. Can't go to the outdoor restrooms with your cocktail or beyond the stage. I have plans to come here again during the summer. read more

The music is absolutely unbearably loud. You can't even talk with anyone at your table when there is live music.

(They charge a crazy cover fee for local band artists just fyi) Usually don't get food but the overpriced drinks made me crave wings. While staying at the lake we took the boat over to Mangos for dinner. We had a friendly and helpful server and my family and I enjoyed dinner. They also had live music which you have to pay if you sit outside but you can hear it just fine inside (for free). read more

Goodness, not quite sure where to begin on this one. Our server Kris seemed like he was having a bad day so we tried not to ask much of him. Really pushing those alligator bites which I had to tell him three different times and no one wanted them When the food arrived it was bland. One person in our group described. The burger as being tasteless. I had a turkey wrap with bacon if you can call that. I think there were four pieces of greens less than one slice of bacon and a ton of turkey on a very dry tortilla. Supposed to come with tortilla chips and a pickle, which weren't on the plate I think the worst part of the experience was going with my daughter and her newborn into the ladies room to change him The changing tables were right by the dryer and one elderly worker reached around and turned the dryer on blasting a two week old baby I said are you kidding me? She said I have to dry my hands and then proceeded to hit the button again!! Would I recommend this restaurant absolutely not - bad food bad service no reason to go back save yourself your time and money and go almost any other place in the area. Party of 2 for lunch on a weekday. It was not busy and all the staff were friendly and attentive. No issues with the food either. Drinks are kind of weak for the price but it's a fun place and it's not like there are a ton of options around the lake. What annoyed me was when the server brought the bill and the credit card machine, she said to pick one of the tip options at the top of the screen which I believe started at 20% and went up from there. She then hovered over my shoulder while watching the transaction. This passive aggressive pressure for a large tip is not professional or appreciated. I went with the 'custom tip' option and left a respectable tip but it wasn't 20%. If it wasn't for the tip issue, I would say it was a 4.5* lunch. read more

I live at Smith Mountain Lake and brought my family to Mango's for lunch. It was wonderful. There was live music outdoors when we arrived. The band was great. We decided to eat indoors and the room was nice. Our server greeted us with a smile, and did a fine job. We had the burger with bacon, turkey burger and tacos. Our food was delicious. we visited on a Saturday and they had live music on their outdoor stage. We sat inside and could not only here each other but it was a perfect view of the stage and could hear the band at the perfect noise level. I definitly recommend ordering the Mango's burger just as it comes with a fried egg, bacon, American cheese and Chipotle mayo. Its not a huge burger but wow it is full of flavor. The chili was really good as well. Hopefully, you will get Stephanie as your waiter as she is awesome. read more

Good service, but $9 adder for Mahi for the $11 mandarin salad way overpriced for the 3 little strips which probably add up to 2 oz of meat. They said it was same amount of meat served with tacos. So be warned if you are thinking of either. My wife got the chicken adder at $5 and that was worth it. Fish was a ripoff - they should list the serving size. Salad and dressing standard fare. We finally got a chance to give Mangos a try on our last visit. The indoor/outdoor bar area was a little muggy so we decided to dine outside. Our server was very polite and attentive. We ordered wings, two sandwiches, and some sides to split and the food was just ok. We missed the live entertainment the day we were there, but it definitely still felt like lake bar vibes and I can only imagine how fun it is when they have musicians on their stage. The one thing we didn't enjoy was the group of people sitting at a table next to us smoking. I don't know the laws regarding smoking in restaurants in Virginia, but it is prohibited in Michigan so we just weren't used to that. The hostess was the absolute worse. She was old with white hair and rude and unhelpful. Completely unacceptable. Once we got inside the service was better but still not worth it. Stopped into Mangos with five others. We arrived at 530. There was ample outdoor seating and maybe half the tables had guests. There was plenty of staff roaming amongst the tables. Our waitress came over for our initial order and we all ordered a mixed drink and waters. From the time we ordered until arrival of the drinks we probably waited 20 minutes and that was the time for the rest of our three hour stay. Every time we ordered it took a very long time to get anything to include dinner. I ordered the hot wings my wife the burger. The wings when they arrived were cool to the touch not even warm. The food sat for a pretty long time in the window before it came to us and we ordered more drinks. The food arrived but our drinks and waters never did. Other tables didn't seem to have this issue. Over all it was just ok. One of the few establishments on the lake with mixed drinks and outdoor seating. There is a stage where they could have bands but not sure if they are having them at this time. read more

The WORST tacos I've ever had. Stale tortilla, completely flavorless, cold, and barely any meat at all. I had to combine the meat from all 3 tacos to make 1 normal taco otherwise I would've eaten straight tortilla and cabbage. Absolutely astonished I wasted $15 on them. Tay was very sweet as our waitress but we were charged a $10 cover charge for music that was happening 3 hours later and were denied a refund. The facilities are not ADA friendly, and an individual in our party was denied leaving the premises to take necessary medication. The food was mediocre at best. I love this place. If you are visiting Smith Mountain Lake and want something to do, Bridgewater Plaza is fun. You have shops, the arcade, restaurants and Mangos. There are two bars. One overlooks the marina. The outdoor seating is spacious. There are bands that play on the weekend. If you eat at Mangos, there isn't any cover charge. Otherwise the cover charge is $10. The inside bar is smaller but cooler. You can order pub grub , which includes sandwiches and sides. The basket of fries is good. The kitchen uses sea salt. Parking gets tricky in the evening and on weekends. I would arrive early if you want to find a spot. There are wheelchair ramps. The plaza doesn't have an elevator. read more

Idk why this place has gotten such bad reviews. I will admit it is a tad overpriced so have that in mind as well as the smaller than normal portions(not sure that's a bad thing though). After their recent remodel it's a great place to visit and whether it's for some drinks or to visit for some live music. I have been here numerous times and have enjoyed myself each one! For food, I ordered the Capri chicken sandwich and it was delicious! I do suggest not ordering the shrimp and just having it at home, it's not worth the price. read more

I was honestly thinking about not reviewing, but decided to because my visit here was terrible. To start, every single employee (other than the manager, i cant remember his name but bless his SOUL) were very rude. We had called a day before asking if they could accommodate our party of 15, they said to come on in. So.. we did! First they made us pay $10 cover to see the band, the two women we had checking us in said that if we were just there to eat dinner and leave then we dont have to pay. So, we didn't but every single security guard made sure to be rude and swear at us because we " didnt have wristbands for the band " so we had to tell maybe 5 different people what we were told was ok at the top before we were let in. We get to the host stand and they ignore us for 10 minutes, when finally asked how many and I say "15" the hostess ROLLS HER EYES AT ME, mumbles something under her breath and makes another person take us to our seats. We get to the table and there were only 10 seats, and no one was around to ask for 5 more so 5 people from our party were just standing. The server was rude and unhelpful. I got the snow crab legs, they were $65 and i did not even bat an eye because I know things are super expensive right now, I got them 20 minutes before everyone else got their food, they came out cold and super fishy smelling and tasting, obviously not fresh. But the best part is that when the rest of the parties food came out, we were missing 3 peoples food. When we asked the server where the food was she said shed go check. She came back to tell us that apparently the kitchen was fighting because they "know they made the food" and they weren't going to make us the meals. 10 minutes go by and the server said they were making the food etc took about 20 minutes for the food to come out for them and at that point we were ready to leave. I tell my friends to all wait so I can go get a manager, mind you I work in the service industry so getting the manager is the literal LAST thing I ever want to do. I ask an employee where I can find him, she looks me dead in the face and goes "hes really busy right now im not going to ask him to talk to you" and at this point im just mad, so I go and find him myself. I told him everything of what happened, he was very nice and apologetic and said whenever he has a second he will come over and address it. When he did he gave us free wristbands for us to enjoy the music and not have to leave, and had the food taken off the bill for the people who had to wait. At that point half of our party was gone. What was supposed to be an awesome night out with friends because we were on vacation turned into a terrible night. I never want to say to never go anywhere, but if you go here (to this specific one in SML, not sure if the others are this bad) i advise you not too. Avoid. Food: downright awful. 1. Fish ("mahi mahi") tacos were dry and nasty. Best part about it was the mass-produced soft flower tortilla. Even the chips were stale. Ate one, forced down most the second because I was starving. Skipped the third. Had the sauce on the side and passed. 2. Shrimp tacos. Ugh. The "wasabi cream sauce" was absolutely disgusting. Destroyed the meal. 1 taco partially eaten, two breaded shrimp picked at. 3. Burger. Burger was dry. Couldn't tell if the bun was stale or slightly toasted. If they mess up a burger, you know you need to skip the place. 4. Kids pizza. Some sort of thick bread with a light dusting of cheese. Kid, who loves pizza, have up after a square. 5. French fries. Steak-fry wannabe. Kinda warm, not hot. Mostly blah. 6. Water. Best part of the meal. Styrofoam cups to take away any joy you would otherwise get. COVID-19: 1. Bartender, bar service. No masks. 3. Seating was "seat yourself" with no attempt to separate tables. My fault, totally, for listening to my rumbling stomach over my brain. It looked ok, I thought the breeze would be a nice protection against COVID, but as I tried to chew through my nasty, nasty, dry fish, I realized- if they don't care about themselves or their customers, if they don't believe COVID-19 is a destroyer- then why would they care about my meal.
