These guys are great!! More than great and I very highly recommend. I locked my keys in my car, and everyone I called said it would be an hour or more before they could come. This happened at night and it was so cold and my hands were like ice. I was ready to give up and just smash my window, but I thought I would give it one more phone call. The man who answered was really nice. I asked him how long it would take to come because it was so cold--this week Escondido was having cold nights--he understood my concern and said he could have someone to me in 15 minutes and the fee was 75.00. Are you kidding me? I was so elated! Everyone else was an hour or more and over 100.00. He not only took my credit card over the phone, he also sent me a picture, via text, of my receipt to give my insurance company. He even asked me to text him when his guy got there. Amazing service. My car ignition switch suddenly pooped out, and I was afraid I was going to have to have the car towed to a Ford dealership and pay an arm and a leg to replace the ignition switch and have new keys coded (which sounded like a real barrel of laughs). After stressing out and calling around for about an hour trying to figure out the best course of action, I decided to call an automotive locksmith just to see if they could code new keys. Approximately ONE HOUR after calling Sur-Lock & Key, my ignition switch was fixed, my old keys were coded to work with it, and my problem was solved. Nothing worse then locking your keys in the garage especially -_- in the middle of the night! Luckily we called the right people and they were here in a hurry, even saved our lock by simply picking it. Sur-Lock & Key is the place to come duplicate your keys. My wife and I needed a new set of remote keys and decided to get on Yelp and found this small shop down the street from our house. I would give this place 0 stars if I could! Literally be AWARE of this crooked company. Do not spend a dime here or you will regret it later. I was in a bad situation. I didn't have much money and I had lost my keys. As a single mother with only one means of transportation I went looking for the best price I could find and I didn't later think I would regret it all. They showed up fixed my key. I noticed it wasn't turning over for them and was just dinging my seatbelt alarm. It took them about 40 mins to an hour to replace the key with NO REMOTE. Cost me $190. Later that night the key completely stopped working on me. I contacted me and they told me they would be out to my home first thing. Well morning comes around and my priority is pushed until 2:00pm because making more money was more important to them. I missed out days or work and school for my daughter. The tech didn't even show till 3:30! A whole hour and half later than expected! He hopped on the phone with their "boss" who called me from the same number that claimed they were dispatch! They woman told me that I broke my ignition and how they would give me half off! Infuriated I refused to fix it. I paid this company $190 to break my ignition. Now after they fixed it , the next day I had issues with my starter! These costs were way more than $190! Don't go with this company. I was out of a key now I'm out of a whole car. I will be using this company. And I hope this review keeps anyone else from using them. Not worth not having a car or a job! They refused to answer their phones or answer to me now. Completely disappeared. Mind you when I first went upstairs to discuss this situation with my mother, the first technician completely took off on me, did not say anything, and with the key I paid for. Kinda Micky Mouse but it worked... ish... Lost one of two keys to the old van, so I went to Home Depot and had a replacement made. They asked me if it "had a chip" and I assumed (yep) that something that old wouldn't have... I was wrong. Their key worked perfectly in the lock, but the van wouldn't start. Sigh. So I searched around and found this place. Very mousy lady on the phone, wasn't sure of this or that, had to check, be right back, etc... Then said I should call before I came down to make sure the right person was in. Ok... So an hour later, I called at 4:30, "Is this a good time". "Oh... um... let me check... oh, at 5:20." Well at 5:15 I needed to be somewhere else, so I said "thanks anyway". Then she says "In 20 minutes" but I wasn't sure that would time out, so "thanks anyway" and I rang off. So then she calls me back (caller ID? I didn't give her my number) "It's ok, we can do it now". Ok.... So I go there, and it's a dump. Very disorganized. The lady there worked on it for a while and programmed the chip, and asked me to test it, great, and it did start the van, but I had to shake it to get it to turn. So I ask her if she could check it, and she did the grind again. This time it was actually harder to turn. So I said not to worry and I'd just like to pay. She insisted on grinding it again, and then asked if I could pay cash because someone else had the CC machine. Wow. .. Ok, so I go next door and use the ATM, paying the fee. She was nice enough to drop the charge a few dollars to make up for the fee. Nice. Anyway, the key sort of works if you shake it a lot. I took the Home Depot key, drilled out a hole, and moved the chip over into it. I'm good. If I had another key to make, I'd try somewhere else first. read more

Larry was amazing. We needed our truck re-keyed because we lost our keys. Not only did he come within the hour but he re-keyed the truck giving us 2 programmed keys and he gave a a master cut key.
