I knew they were most likely swamped and didn't really think much of it when it was past 6:00 PM. To my surprise I received a call back from Rick around 8:30 PM. He apologized and came right over. It was dark but he had a light and obviously the part we needed because he was done in less than an hour. What a nice surprise these days to have such great service! I highly recommend this company.

But come the heating season things rapidly changed. Today is 1/1/23 and not ones did the heating unit switch automatically from HP to GF. I have had to always do that manually. I have contacted Rick over and over again. He did show up a couple of times but never did fix the actually problem. He did manage however to make me feel stupid. I believe that I do not have to understand how these mechanics work but should be able to rely on the professional that I hired. (wonder if he would treat me better if I would not be a foreign, single older woman) Now there is a new problem with the thermostat, which likes to turn to the highest degrees allotted on in the middle of the night on recovery mode. Last little twist on this, now Yancy's is suddenly not available on any e-mail offered on their website or that was used in the past. They all were returned, the recipient address rejected. Text messages sent go unanswered. Tell me just what can I do ?

Their tech showed up, and proceeded to try to plunge the clog, despite being told that we have tried that. He then left to get a snake. He came back with a 1/4" 15' hand crank snake that might as well have come from fischer price. A plumber going to a clogged line call without a snake is just about the most idiotic thing i had ever heard . . . or so i thought. By this point, i was on a phone call for work when i hear blood curdling screams for help coming from the basement. This genius had decided to cut a hole in the pipe (without talking to anyone) and was trying to catch the drain water with MY bucket while standing on MY step stool in my finished basement. He then tried to tell me that he had to cut the hole, because his 15' snake couldn't reach the clog. He then claimed that because there was grease in the line, the whole line would need to be replaced, which couldn't be done until the next day. He wouldn't leave without getting paid and promised to send me an estimate to replace the line. To sum up, they demanded $330 for doing absolutely nothing, except making a mess and cutting a hole in my pipe. The next morning, i called because i had received no estimate. I was told that it would cost $600+ to replace the pipe, and that i would be charged a cancellation fee if i refused. Instead, i called a real plumber who came with a real snake and had the drain cleared inside 30 minutes. That and repairing the pipe cost less than what Burnell had charged for nothing. I had two…read morescheduled appointments in which after more than 3 hours past the appointment I called to determine the status of my scheduled service - only to be told there had been a change in schedule and I would need to be rescheduled. I generally don't mind being rescheduled but pro-active communication so I am not left waiting for technicians would be nice. If they are holding a 50% deposit on work, I would expect bettter communication with the customer on scheduling the service. The technicians while friendly and polite, have been inexperienced, resulting in small mistakes I don't feel are appropriate to deal with when paying for service. Including missing thread seal and forgetting to turn water supplies back on after service. Would not recommend.

Both instillation (7 years?) and the units (12 year) had a great warranty. They were able to offer this because they are a diamond elite rated Mitsubishi contractor. There were no false promises of time frames because the company was very straightforward about needs for permits before work. On the day of instillation, the crew insisted on working through a rainstorm to get all of the units installed in a few hours. Since instillation, the units have worked wonderfully, but it's comforting to know that someone is there to help if something goes wrong.

I wasn't sure exactly what type of replacement I wanted; tank less or traditional. Jimmy was upfront and honest with all the options and explanations. I really appreciated that, and it helped me make a decision I was happy with. My old natural gas tank heater was 40 gallons. I always felt there wasn't enough hot water even with just 3 people in the home, probably because it was supporting a 3 story brown stone. Jimmy found a nice 50 gallon one, and scheduled next day installation. His team was on time, courteous, asked for water shut off location, and began the install. I was upstairs doing work. Couple hours later, he let me know it was all done and walked me through the work and the new electronic gas and pilot control unit on the new system. He even installed a new ball valve and gas valve at no extra charge. I've used other plumbers in the time I have been up here, and never have I had the exceptional customer service, quality workmanship, and cost effectiveness that J2 plumbing offers. They are my go to for any future heating and cooling work. Highly recommend J2 for any heating or cooling work you need. They are a top notch outfit.

The work was OK, but our general contractor had to compensate for some things he didn't do. Billington's time at the house was a little over 12 hours, but the office billed us for 20 hours. We asked for an explanation and the response was that they have time at the supply house getting materials if they are not at the job location. We felt that the rounding up of hours, the number of hours at the supply house getting materials, and the number of hours listening to stories about the Billington's change in diet are excessive. It's great to hear that a change in diet has improved health, but it's not worth several hundred dollars.

A month later, on a trip downstairs to a seldom used storage room beneath the new fixture, I find we've added a 'swimming pool' - a flooded mess of ruined paint, sheet rock soaked requiring a tear out down to the studs. A call to Billington, the contractor who'd handled the install, was met with not, "We'll be out right away!" But a promise to come by in a few days. Upon arriving a few days later, we were told they didn't have the right tools to address the situation and would be back. Four days later having heard nothing we had to call again. Once again, several days went by until they were able to come out. At that time, it was denial city - it became the house's fault due to it's "age"...and it was the existing piping that was now, "outdated" and "should've been replaced" before installing a new XYZ...As we had been hanging around, waiting for Billington to come back out and address the situation, we had called in not only a handyman, but another local(see my other reviews) plumbing company to take a look at this situation as we weren't sure Billington was ever going to return. We were advised, that there was nothing wrong with the existing piping, and it appears that the problem was installation using the incorrect parts. I get it - mistakes happen, and had the response been a prompt, " we'll take care of it" I would've been not only impressed but more than willing to hire them if needed in the future. And while they did correct the issue, they were bold enough to suggest us filing a homeowners claim for the ancillary damage and made no offer to pay for the repairs to the sheet rock, woodwork, etc. So we'll be footing that bill as well. Lesson learned!

David was able to quickly respond to my call for a "no heat emergency". We had family arriving for…read morethe recent Holiday and the temperature in our home had fallen to an extremely uncomfortable level. I reached out to David in a panic. Not to worry... David arrived to identify and resolve the problem. He was able to replace the defective ignitor in our heating (radiant) system. David had previously replaced our original,defective, leaking boilers with a single, very efficient Lockinvar boiler. The added advantage of the current system that David installed is that he can at all times monitor via an app our heating system. He can become aware of a potential heating "problem" even before we do. When required, he has been able to walk me through how to make the necessary changes on the Boiler settings. My only "complaint" (not really) is I had to "beg" David to send me a bill. When I finally received the invoice I found it to have been very reasonable given the emergency call on a late Friday afternoon before Holiday. I would strongly recommend David Sellers Mechanical when and if you require reliable heating service.

Upon informing her there was no second bidder and I simply need to ask a lot of questions before spending $30k, she refused to believe me and demanded $250 to finish the quote that was initially described to me as feee. It also took over a month to go from design conversation to a written quote in my email, and David never did an official, detailed walkthrough, showing me where everything would go. However upon receiving the quote, he expected a $10k deposit check from me THE NEXT DAY, even though that was a Saturday and I had less than 12 hours to review the quote. The amount of drama Rebekah created due to her interpreting my questions about a huge cash outlay as unfounded paranoia about me shopping the work around was extreme. Even if I was shopping the work around (which everyone tells you is good practice, to get multiple quotes) it shouldn't matter, but I wasn't doing it (don't have the time with all the other house projects) and when I would try to tell her this, she talked over me to tell me about her company's web site / online dedication to her husband. All in all, David is a hard core, professional-as-you-can-get worker, held back by an extremely unprofessional manager / scheduler who sees enemies instead of customers with questions proportional to the large amount of money they're spending.
