I browsed through the books & finally landed on the true crime section, which peaked my interest. I grabbed a book & took it to checkout, they were polite & offered me a bag. The book price was very affordable & I even got a discount! Unfortunately the cats were hiding so I didn't get to say hello to them, but this is such a gem of a store & i recommend that you visit!

There was a time when these things were everywhere but that time is long past. Come and check it out and pick up a few things from here. This shop looks tiny when you first enter (downdownstairs in a great bookshop), but don't let your first glance deceive you. As you go from one small room into another and another and another, you will realize there are plenty of places to get lost looking through old books. Some titles are in other languages (lots of German), and some are behind locked glass doors (the truly rare stuff), but most are fun, random old books with worn pages and aged leather bindings. Looking through them is fun and could help you kill a few hours for sure. So, whether you're looking for a special, rare find (in the hundreds of dollars), or in it for the look of old books on your pristine shelves ($10 and $20 aisles!), this deceptively large rare book shop should have you covered. The selection of used books is astounding, and the varying levels of quality was unexpected too - nothing was garbage, and while there are clearly used books here, there are also really nice, mint level books too. To give you an idea of the scope of books I'm talking about here, I left with a mint paperback of Starship Troopers from 1997, and a high quality copy of the published 1896 Pennsylvania School Laws (yes, that's a very old book). The staff are incredibly helpful and know their inventory well - don't be afraid to ask for help finding something if you've spent 20 minutes lost in treasure hunting mode. I cannot stress enough how great The Book House is - it is the quintessential used bookshop where you'll find yourself fully immersed in the browsing experience. Even with that setup, it still feels like the perfect amount of space for browsing without feeling cramped. The shop itself is small and intimate, but don't let the size fool you they have a great variety of books. I was just casually browsing this time, but I found myself really drawn in by both the collection and the decor. It has such a cozy, thoughtfully curated feel. Even on a quick visit, I could tell this is the kind of place you come back to when you want to slow down and really enjoy the experience of book shopping. I'm already planning to return so I can take my time and dig deeper into everything they have to offer. Definitely worth stopping in if you love a charming local bookstore with a cozy vibe.
