What a disappointment for our first night of our stay in Vero. We were craving pasta and went off of the good Google reviews without checking Yelp. We ordered the bruschetta as an app. Three bland pieces of toast with tomatoes and balsamic. No noticeable garlic or capers. Next we had side Cesar salads. I like cheese but they were more cheese than romaine. Our server Brandon never offered fresh ground pepper. We grabbed a pepper shaker off another table. Our dinner was the Penne Oscar. It was supposed to have shrimp, scallops and crab meat. No signs of an scallops. The flavor was as scarce as the scallops. Brandon never stopped back to see how the food was. When we were finished the waiter stopped back to see if we wanted a box. My wife then told him how everything was really lacking flavor. Brandon didn't have anything to say and no manager came out to apologize for our experience. Save your money and go elsewhere. I'm on vacation and it's really disappointing to get dressed up to go out to dinner and be so disappointed. read more

Ordered takeout the other evening on the recommendation of a Vero local. It worked out great - - the restaurant was efficient and friendly. The Veal Piccata and the Veal Marsala were both tasty and enjoyable. The garlic knots were a treat. While I might have given Pomodoro three stars for the food (on a takeout basis), the service and atmosphere on pickup made the experience more noteworthy. I am going back when we can to sit down and eat there at their outdoor area which was truly charming. read more

The best Italian food I've ever had. You could taste the fresh ingredients and real authentic flavors. Everything from the garlic knots, salad, pasta to the dessert was fabulous. I had the linguine puttenesca but got it with angel hair instead. So good!! The rest of my family got the mahi piccata, Cajun shrimp and eggplant Parmesan and said everything was delicious. They serve just the right portions. The tiramisu was a perfect way to end the meal :) Also, the service was spectacular. read more

This is the first "Italian restaurant", that doesn't serve bread! They have garlic knots floating in butter and oil and were inedible. Also the pasta dishes overwhelmingly too much oil. So surprised because of the good ratings it received! read more

Back in Vero last week looking in on parents home nearby. This is their go-to pizza connection. I get that all the way, outstanding thin pie ! Waitstaff couldn't be more decent. Also got to meet and chat up owner Pepe (sp?). What a great conversation with this wily entertaining restaurant veteran. Linguini w/ clams Bianco was outstanding. I've yet to find any reason to be any less than delighted here, both dining in or carrying away. read more

Yes indeed, the seafood pasta was excellent, with a light marina sauce and perfect proportions. On the menu, the meal was $28, on the bill it was $30, same with my wife. When I questioned it, they brought out a menu that listed it as $29 and adjusted the tab. Then I noticed that there was a $3.55 "non-cash payment surcharge". which is legal kind of, but it was hidden until I got the bill. I understand labor rates going up, the cost of seafood going through the roof, but consider surcharges deceptive. read more

We found this Gem by accident, we were headed elsewhere but could not find parking near our primary target. Our luck was fortuitous as we had to park a block from Ocean Drive, the main attraction for Vero Beach locals & visitors. As we vacated our parked car we spotted Pomodoro Grill & decided to check it out. Our lunch was a Frittata, a cup of soup & a delicious pizza, of the style typical of Naples Italy. This is an Italian eatery that will appeal to all those looking for authentic Italian food & ambiance. Yes, our experience was limited to lunch & a few items but we know genuine Italian. It reminds me of the traditional Italian restaurants found in Providence RI on Atwells Avenue. A great value at $$! read more

Visiting-- reserved the couples night $75 dinner. Excellent service and quality of meals. The appetizers of marinated peppers, Prosciutto, and shaved parmesan good accompaniment to fresh garlic knot. Onion dressing was delicious over fresh mixed salad. Veal Nonno Antonio--scalloped fork tender veal with crab and shrimp with a tarragon sauce--was delicious. Chicken marsala was delicious as well. Both the limoncello and peanut butter chocolate desserts were prettily decorated and also delicious. I am very disappointed in the Pomodoro Grill even thought it came highly recommended. We had a reservation and were seated quickly but at probably the worst table in the dining room. I asked if we could move and told "no" since the other tables were reserved, noting that most of the tables were empty. It took a very long time to get a waitress and even longer to get our meals even though we were seated, ordered our dinner and were served after other parties that came in after us. To make matters worst, one of our orders was wrong and the waitress knew this when I mentioned it. She them came back with the correct pasta after we were finished with our dinner. A little too late... The food was so so. I would not go back to the Pomodoro Grill and would not recommend. We asked the hostess when we left if our server was "new" and her answer was "no". We told her how disappointed we were and felt we were treated like second class citizens. This was too bad since we looked forward to trying this place after such good recommendations from our friends. read more

The food is good. Service ok just don't plan on spending more than an hour and a half there. We had 5:15 reservations so we could go to the theater. At 6:30 we were starting to be ushered out. When we spoke with the hostess and the owner we were told we had an hour and a half to eat and leave. I told him we felt rushed from the beginning and oh by the way it was 6:40. We have eaten here for years and never had this issue. As year round residents I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem in June. But not to worry we won't be back. Pizza baked to order features tasty thin crust and light sauce/cheese. Ask for extra to your taste. Waitress staff friendly the 3 times we've been there. The food was good. The waiter forgot things, brought them late and had to be asked 3 times for water. Speaking of water, there was a ban on it in Vero Beach that day. How did Pomodoro address it? They charged $2.00 per bottle for "Nestles" one of the cheapest brands out there. A case is $2.99 so they had an 18 1/2 bottle profit at $48.00 per case. Garlic knots are to die for!!! I could have made a meal out of just those. They are so good. I had dinner here for the second time last week and overall it was really good! My bf and I split a pizza and the cannelloni. both ample sized meals. Pizza could easily be shared with 2 people. When you order the pizza you can select 5 toppings (one being cheese). Our pizza had shredded mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, spinach, and red peppers. Delicious! Crust was nice and crispy. The cannelloni was my least favorite because they put smoked mozzarella on it. I'm not a fan of the smoked.(This made me remember that I had the chicken parmigiana my first time here. They put smoked mozzarella on it too. I thought maybe they had run out of regular mozzarella because it was so weird). Would definitely recommend and definitely look forward to going back. read more

We showed up for our Christmas Eve dinner reservation. The party of 5 who walked in, before us did not have a reservation but were seated immediately at an 8 top table. When the hostess approached us, I gave them our name, she marked us off on the reservation list and asked us to wait a minute. A waitress came back and said they had no room, but could seat us outside. We asked why, when we made a reservation 3 weeks ago! She said, oh you have a reservation, and went to look at the list. She could not find us, so I told her that the hostess already marked us off from the list. They asked us to wait outside, and they would see what they could do. 15 minutes later they had put two make shift round tables together in an effort to seat us. The table cloth was dirty and my napkin had a stain on it. We were not offered a complimentary drink or dessert and no manger came to apologize for their mistake. This was Christmas Eve dinner with the whole family! Never again! Our kids were very disappointed over the entire experience.....on Christmas Eve! Ordered dinner for curb side pickup. Was very disappointed with the calamari app. There was virtually no calamari in order. Sauce only. For $10 shame on them. Chicken piccata was bland. This is certainly the best Italian restaurant in Vero Beach and my favorite. The food is consistently good, fresly made and excellent service with waiters who have been with the restaurant for several years. The 2 Acct Managers from our billing company flew in from Maine and said "you pick the restaurant of your choice". They raved about the food; kept telling the waitress it was "fabulous". I had mahi mahi francese, it was excellent. They both had chicken marsala. As a matter of fact, I am going there tomorrow night as a belated b'day gift from a friend. He loves it there too. Their Marsala dishes and Francese dishes are superb - their veal is tender. Their specials are always excellent. Their salad is great and so are the delicious garlic rolls. Their noted for their creamy onion salad dressing. Their homemade tiramasu is fantastic. You won't be disappointed. The only drawback is that the place is very small. read more

Expectations were low for an italian dinner in south florida, but pomodoro grill was great. Waitress was very friendly, though thru her own omission, she knew nothing about the extensive wine menu. My husband ordered the filet special, which was tender and cooked to perfection, though the mashed potatoes that came with it might have been boxed. Really bad experience. Sub par service coupled with - don't know how else to say it - noxious food and couple of old arguing drunks at next table made for terrible over priced experience. There I said it. Took at least 5 minutes for waitress to come to table after being seated promptly. Bruschetta looked and tasted as if a child had prepared and put on a plate. The vinaigrette on the house salad was akin to eating sour balls. Had one bite and that was it. Eggplant parm was serviceable but served in a pool of watery marinara. Veggie side was chunky and extremely garlic. Again one taste and that was it. All this was accented by an elderly couple more than half in the bag with loud comments like "I hate my own cooking and the only thing worse is having to suffer sitting through dinner with you. I hate you". The drunk couple is not necessarily the fault of restaurant (they only serve beer and wine) buy everything else is. Probably my worst food and dining experience in a long long time - and expensive to boot. The only positive is the bottled Peroni beer was served cold and fast. Stay far far away. read more

I have never left a review on a business but I feel so strongly about my bad experience tonight I have to. We went for my mother in laws birthday dinner. Our waiter had little knowledge of the menu which doesn't bother me usually but all of this adds up to one large issue. We ordered wine and I asked for some ice. The ice was never brought. I ordered another glass when I was finished and it was never brought. My meal was incorrect and the waiter proceeded to tell me that it was correct and I was wrong. It took another 20 minutes for me to get my correct meal after my family had already gotten theirs. I truly wasn't too annoyed at any of this as I have a soft side for the customer service industry because I am in it myself. But this is when I got so angry. The bill came out to about $200. The bill was split between 2 family members. One gave cash and one gave card. For the tip, they left $20 cash and $20 on the card. While we were still sitting there eating dessert, the waiter comes and asks for the check back where he proceeds to stand over the table and open the book. He sees the $20 and not the $20 on the card and looks at us and says "the check was like $200". My sister in law explains to him that we left cash and card tip. He then stands there and tells us that we tipped too much and then checks his watch as if we're a problem being there at that time when we were not the only table still there. I thought it was extremely rude and unprofessional to not only check the tip to make sure it was to his liking but also call us out on undertipping when we in fact did the opposite. I will never go back after the treatment. I'm frustrated that my family just spent so much money on that. read more

We went to Pomodoro Grill last night for my husband's birthday. I don't usually write negative reviews, but our waiter was possibly the worst we have ever experienced. This gentleman was not new to the waiter scene (if you get my drift), but when you go to this kind of restaurant, you expect decent service. The food was exceptional, but when you have to beg for a refill of water, you have to wonder if it is worth the effort. My husband mentioned it was his birthday and the waiter just shrugged. Started out.with a 25 minute wait despite a reservation; service & management appears to be quite chaotic, but a pleasant waitress...portions are stingy and mediocre---chicken Marsala served bathed in a brownish gravy, that was also slopped on the linguine; the chicken parmagan probably ought to be called "Panno"---full of bread---food was essentially tasteless& table not served at same. On leaving, the Owner said "what can you do" & yelp was the suitable response which elicited a nasty response from an apron clad youngish man--his son? The chef? Not a nice way to handle legitimate criticism...real classy! This has become a tourist trap deal--- good for one visit if you don't know any better---and sadly located right near the superb Tides Restaurant. Watch out folks! read more

We went here for a Valentines dinner. To begin the service was awful and the food was even worse. The food came out Luke warm at best and had no flavor, it tasted like a packaged dinner that was microwaved and served. The prices are ridiculous. We never have a problem paying for great food, we good to the Pollo Grille and The Tides often and both are wonderful. I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy. read more

My wife and I had dinner here a couple of nights ago and were very happy with this "neighborhood" spot. Since it is within walking distance of our condo it makes it even better. We had a bit of a wait for a table and since they have no bar area had to stand (but they did offer a drink while we waited) until the table was ready. For starters we had very fresh garden salads to go with the fantastic garlic rolls. We each had a different pasta and both were very good, freshly made and a generous portion (enough to take home for lunch the next day). read more
