This was conveniently located by Lorimer St L train stop. My friend found it by searching for fun places that specialize in making bread. It wasn't busy for a weekend brunch time with many empty tables. I tried their smoked iced tea which tasted like an herbal tea. We shared the rye pita, semolina pita with a few dips including hummus, bottarga and Labneh. We did ask for an extra semolina pita to finish off the dips. The pitas were very warm and fresh and the dips were as expected. The lahmajun was a crowd favorite which was a flat bread topped with lamb. We shared a few plates-- the semolina bread came out steaming hot, with crispy exterior and a soft, chewy underbelly. The sesames on top adds a layer of texture and flavor. We paired with the onion dip. Gorgeous dip with cheesy with a few layers of flavors to savor through. As for mains, we shared the octopus, chicken thighs and reginetti bolognese. The octopus was the star of the show. The sauce that came with was tangy, umami and fresh, pairing perfect with the octopus. Chicken had great aus jus, with the ugani in the bottom soaking up all the flavors of the sauce/broth. The bolognese sauce was packed with fresh tomato, melt in your mouth pork cheek and Parmesan. True people spice things differently but was hoping for more traditional. Ordered the lamb meatballs. The presentation was great, the toppings were great, but I didn't get the lamb taste. Service was excellent throughout the night. Everything we tried was super delicious and the prices were very fair. The $18 dollar happy hour was a great deal because you get a drink, dip, and pita, which normally would add up to quite a bit more. We tried the labneh and foie gras (not included in happy hour) with both pitas and both were exceptional. Loved how fluffy and warm the pitas were. We also got a shrimp Bolognese fusilli. Unique and delicious. We also got to try the meatballs (very very good) and a short rib flat bread (my least favorite). Wheelchair access details: there is a small step to get inside. Fabulous dinner and offering for Restaurant Week is great. Been living in Williamsburg since around the time they opened but hadn't taken a chance to stop by. Definitely lived up to 5 stars. Had the Semolina pita with the Labneh, bread hot right out of the stone oven and loved the hot sauce drizzled added to the Labneh. The warm salad of Endives was ok a little too salty for me. Got the Reginetti Bolognese the way I like it hardy and great portion took the rest to go. The fresh pasta also was so yummy with the sauce. Great dinner in a cute, casually classy spot. We came during Restaurant Week, and were excited that they let the 2 of us share one Restaurant Week and add a dish. We started with a Bottarga dip with rye pita. LOVED the pita, so soft and fresh. The dip was pretty good, very oniony, a bit fishy with the roe. We then did the kale salad which was pretty solid too. I liked the crisps on it. For our shared plates, we did the casarecce and added on lamb meatballs. The casaracce was really filling and pretty good. The lamb meatballs came with 4, but were fairly large. Also solid. We were super full at this point. We ended with the chocolate torte, which had a nice gooey middle. Pretty small, but solid. Overall, everything was pretty good but nothing wowed me or was super memorable. I don't feel the need to come back. I'm also glad we split a Restaurant Week since it was enough food for us. If you have a bigger appetite or are super hungry, I'd consider adding on more dishes or getting 2 Restaurant Weeks. read more

They have a weekly happy hour deal from 4:30-6:30 which includes a dip, bread, and a drink for $16 - which is a really really great deal that I'll definitely come back for. Their hummus and labneh were wonderful - very flavorful and paired well with their steamy rye pita. We opted for the Baccala Caponata as our third dip which wasn't our favorite - it was overly salty and fishy. The brown butter tomato salad fell a bit flat too - there wasn't much going on with it & it felt more like a side dish than a salad. The lamb meatballs were good and I loved the fresh yoghurt and pomegranates. The cod dish with lentils was nice too. This new spot was on my radar for their steaming hot, off the wood fired oven, fluffy pitas. The service however stole the show for me and that's the way to go P&C! Rye Pita (4/5): loved the texture and warmth of this bread. Something about it was super comforting. Semolina Pita (3.5/5): both the pitas were really well prepared but the flavor from the seeds in this one was coming in the way of the flavor when paired with other things. Would also like for a third option in the type of pita offered, that is possibly not sourdough culture based, since the fermented taste in the pita did come in the way of the flavor in the dips and mains at several occasions. Labneh (4/5): just an extra kick of spice in this would make it perfect. The consistency of this was great! Caponata (4/5): cold, fresh, acidic and flavorful. Enjoyable but the portion of fish in this compared to the tomatoes was a little underwhelming. Lamb Meatballs (4.5/5): this one was impressive mostly texture and portion-wise. A few enhancements and this has the potential to be a showstopper. I think it missed a little bit of heat and spice so the yogurt dressed on top of it didn't do much for me than further dilute the flavor. Chocolate Torte (4.5/5): pair this with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and this becomes a 5/5. The velvety texture of the torte, and the overall flavor with a subtle hint of sesame made this beyond enjoyable. With a scoop of ice cream on the side to tame the sweet flavors and warmth of this torte, this would be a balanced dish and more. Possibly my favorite of the night. Because the service offered that night was one of the best treatments we've received at a restaurant in a long while, I've been generous with my rating above. The food was delicious, standouts for me were the risotto (a surprise favorite) and the hummus. We also got the onion dip, which was good but I think we should have gotten the labne and the lamb meatballs. These were also good but had so much cream on them that I think it was overwhelming with the sauce the meatballs come in. I grabbed dinner here and it did not disappoint. This was a cute and cozy spot just a few steps from the L train. For cocktails, I started with the Spicy Mezcal Marg. It wasn't my favorite, as I expected it to be spicier, since Szechuan peppercorn and Calabrian chili were some of the ingredients used. My next drink was the Hugo Spritz, which was amazing!! It made up for the first drink: it was refreshing and sweet (but not too sweet). For apps, we had the Rye Pita and hummus. Now let me just say, I am not a hummus girlie, but the hummus here was so flavorful and smooth. It wasn't gritty as I have experienced in the past. It definitely paired well with the pita. The star of the show was the Lahmajun, which is sort of like a pizza (without cheese) with lamb. I was pleasantly surprised. The lamb, the herbs & spices were just so delicious. Our server told us to dip it in the hummus and I had no regrets. We also had the braised chicken thigh, which felt very much like comfort food. Had to give this a try because of the reviews and because it is very close to the hotel when I'm staying for the weekend. I was hungry and i really wanted to try the tripe and the duck confit. I was worried that's too much for still diving but was assured i can finish the food. I like to try and i don't like to waste food For cocktail, i opted for the negroni on shrooms because it is less bitter. It hits the spot right away. The tripe dish was fantastic! It's is more like a hearty soup. The crunch from the celery, the al diente feel of the potatoes, the sourness and low heat from the jalapenos, with the tenders of the tripe that melts in your mouth made this dish so wonderful. The duck confit was beautiful done. Crispy skin with seasonings that resembles blacken seasonings. The lighting is not that great to see details. What made this dish special is the sauce. Tomato based with beans, olives and fresh herbs. Sweet tangy flavorful. The sauce goes well with the tender duck meat. I watched the baker put in pitas and bread in the bravo forno, and prepare dipping sauce for other customers. I wished i wasn't eating alone and can share a piece of fresh bread with others. What a miraculous place. We celebrated the New Year here and there was not a second we didn't wow ourselves. It's a small restaurant and you can see the chef working the whole time. It's soothing to smell all the aroma and see the bread rise in the oven. Everything was prepared and designed in a way for you to feel intimate and amazed. The dishes themselves are also beyond description. I'm constantly surprised by the combinations. For example, I've never expected to have tripes here because I always see it in Asian cuisines. The tripes here are so tender that it gives me a new perspective. I didn't know grapes could be so good after they are grilled. I haven't had such delicately seasoned pasta in a while. The staff checked in with us frequently and answered all our questions regarding the food, and did a wonderful job introducing the dishes. You could tell he has a passion for what he's doing. HARD five star review. I came for their aperitivo hour and got two of the aperitivo specials (a drink, a dip, and a pita for $16). It's a fantastic deal as the pitas go for $5, the dips go for $7-12, and the spritz goes for $12 normally. For dips, I got the labneh and the duck liver mousse. Both were absolutely phenomenal. Hard to say which I preferred. Labneh was maybe a bit too salty for the average palate but I always add salt to everything so I loved it. Pitas came out piping hot and filled with steam. I was warned by the secret to pop the pita "bubble" before eating and it's a good thing I did. The spritz was good although I do prefer a bit more aperol. There were a couple of groups of people during this time, but definitely empty enough that a reservation wasn't necessary. They have a happy hour/apertivo hour from 4:00-6:30PM everyday. It included a drink, a dip, and a pita for $16. We ended up ordering from the menu since none of us wanted any drinks (wine, beer, spritz). They are known for their pita, made from a 10 year starter. We ordered a rye and semolina pita alongside a hummus and labneh dip (their two most popular dips). The pita, is in fact, delicious !! Hummus was really good and labneh kinda(?) grows on you! The waiter told us the labneh was spicy but it was barely so. I'd say it's definitely a lot more sour than spicy. My sister preferred the hummus and my brother preferred the labneh so i'd say both were pretty good! All the plates are designed for sharing. For our main courses, we ordered the fluke crudo, the lamb meatballs, and agnolotti. I LOVED the fluke crudo mostly because of the pickled celery. It really added a nice crunchy refreshing acidity to the fish. Lamb meatballs were also great. Can't say they changed my meaning in life but they were delicious. No complaints here! The agnolotti is also good. I think it was a bit too cheesy and heavy for me but I literally think that's the point of the dish and it simply wasn't what I was looking for. They only have one dessert, which is a chocolate cake. We didn't end up trying it, but it did sound good. To start off, we ordered cocktails off of the menu. They were great - highly recommend. For appetizers, we ordered one Pita to share, Hummus, and Labneh. Everything tasted amazing. We ended up ordering a second Pita to keep enjoying the dips. The hummus was my personal favorite here. We then ordered the Shrimp Bolognese and Lamb Meatballs. Both of these dishes tasted fantastic, but I did prefer the Shrimp Bolognese more. We ended up not ordering dessert as we were both very full. For dips, we loved the Bottarga and Labneh. We tried the Arugula Salad,Dry Aged Lamb Meatballs, Braised Chicken Thighs and Fusilli. The flavors were such unique/delicious combinations. Overall rating: 4.5 I went here last year and didn't really like it too much. I thought it was overpriced and/or should be labeled under fine dining. However, I recently tried again this year for a happy hour special I saw on my feed I wanted to try out. I'm glad I did! They did a redesign of the store and it feels a lot more modern than when I previously went. The staff was soo friendly. The HH deal was a small appetizer and a quick snack for me. I'm still not sure if this is the spot for me, but I definitely liked it so much more. I recommend giving it a try! read more
