Situation: a couple of hours into a 6.5 I-35 road trip, I have to fill up and my tire light…read moreflashes. Long story short, screw in my tire, and it's 5:15pm on a Wed. I search Tires in Mason Ciry, and find/call Tony's Tire. Online says they're closing but they answer, and gentleman says "guys are walking out but bring it by, I'll take a look. Sounds like you're in a bind." Understatement. I'd have to find a hotel and disrupt my whole trip, which would throw off my Thursday in a major way. Twenty minutes later, Tony's has my tire patched, I'm back on the road - at an incredibly reason value mind you - with a huge smile for appreciation of service and helping out a fellow human. Background: We were on our way from NW Iowa to Memphis for the Liberty Bowl on 12/28/2923. After…read moredriving about 60 miles our car's radiator "bit the dust." The plastic nipple that connects the coolant hose from the radiator to the engine block broke off spewing ethylene glycol everywhere under the hood. I immediately took out my phone and started looking for a repair shop in Storm Lake...the closest big town. I gave A&A Automotive a call and spoke with Gene. While on the phone, Gene check with several parts distributors close by. I was thinking, "Better get a room for a night or 2. Where are they going to find a radiator for a 2014 Subaru Outback nearby? Oh, and kiss those Liberty Bowl tickets goodbye!" Gene came back on the line an told me he found a radiator In Storm Lake! He gave me contact info for a towing outfit (props to Tyson at Storm Lake Towing!) The car was towed to A&A and 3 HOURS LATER we were back on the road! Amazing!!!! And, reasonably priced, too! I had a fuel mixture problem in my '91 Chevrolet C1500, and I was an hour and a half away from my home base, experiencing major issues keeping my vehicle running. Fearing that I wouldn't be able to drive home, or that I would need to somehow arrange for towing, I called a number of shops in Rockwell City in the waning hours of the day when most mechanics are cramming to finish the last bit of their projects. Joe's Tire and Auto were the only ones to respond and, despite having a large list of projects already, Mitchel heard me out and offered to at least siphon the bad gasoline and help me with getting the truck's combustion cycles back up to snuff. I managed to make it there and he did just that. We joked around, had some fun conversations in the process, and he gave me a lot of advice on what other issues might be plaguing the vehicle, and how I could go about fixing them. He made sure that the fix for my truck was effective before allowing me to pay him. He was knowledgeable and helpful throughout, and I cannot recommend this business enough!
