Your basic, generic diner. Haven't experienced anything mind-blowing from here, but the food was still enjoyable.

I never give five star ratings but this diner has got to be the best in North Jersey if not the entire state. Never had anything I didn't end up liking there. But my favs are the breakfast items (think waffles and Malibu omelette) and their Kale and Quinoa salad (amazing!). The only downside is that they are always busy and long wait on weekends and lunch time - only reason I don't end up going there as much as I would like to. read more

This was a very enjoyable diner to eat tonight! The people who greeted me were very friendly and seemed like they could be the owners! I love a place that's family run. The waitress was very pleasant and kind. The food came out in a timely manner and tasted very good. I had the Athenian Turkey burger! I'm part greek so I couldn't resist. The prices were pretty good but I felt some things were too expensive. Overall great experience! read more

The Pompton Queen Diner is, in my experience, the best diner in Northern NJ. It is clean, the food is outstanding, the service is impeccable, and the prices are right ... what more can you ask for? I had one favorite Diner in Hyde Park, NY which I would always order a salad from, but had never found one in NJ which I liked, until recently. There are so many salad choices at Pompton Queen, it takes a while to decide which you want, and in what combination! The only thing that I can complain about is the fact that it is PACED to the gills on Friday and Saturday night. But that just proves my point that this place is the best of the best!!! read more

Went to the Pompton Queen was a very good place to eat. Stopped in there before going to a movie last night around 6:45. The place was packed and we had a 20min wait which to me means that it is a good place if so many people are waiting to eat there and willing to wait. Nice atmosphere, clean and open which made it much more enjoyable. The noise level was quite reasonable, we had been seated near the front door of the diner and had no problem talking to each other in a normal voice, we didn't have to raise our voices to each other at all. The food was delicious and a large portion if it was well as to be expected from a diner. I got the honey dipped fried chicken with French fries, coleslaw, garnished with onion rings and a Caesar salad for around $10. The chicken was soft and moist not dry at all. The Caesar salad was not over dressed with dressing, everything was just right. My friends got the Le cordon Bleau and the chicken avacodo sandwich which looked very good and it was told was delicious. To sum everything up, I will be going back there and recommend this to anyone looking for a place to eat in that area. read more

The Greek salad with grilled chicken is amazing. However I've never actually had everything it's supposed to come with when it's delivered. The people on the phone barely listen to a word you're saying and the order is usually missing either the grape leaves (which I love) or the chicken (which you pay an extra 2.50 for). I always ask for gyro sauce on the side now they charge you an extra 3.00 bucks!? Overall the food is amazing but the staff needs to get it together read more

My family and I have been going there for years and we love it. I have been to some of the best diners Jersey has to offer ,but to me this is the best. The presentation is always a big part of what they do, but the quality of the food is fantastic. Many of the better Diners can be notorious for charging high prices, but this is one that you get true value. You also have a very attentive wait staff to service you every need. They even offer a complete dinner option that can start as low as $16. With that you get Soft Drink, Salad, Soup, Entrée And Dessert.. Pompton Queen has always been the diner....for dinner, for coffee & dessert, for breakfast. But the desserts have really gone downhill. I met up with an out of town friend to catch up on a Saturday night. She had a napoleon & I had chocolate mousse cake. Mostly we both pushed them around our plates. My cake was dry & mostly tasted like sugar instead of being rich & chocolaty. Her napoleon was stale & tasteless. Time for a new dessert place. read more

This is good diner food. Clean atmosphere, servers attentive, food well prepared. The full meal page of the menu is a great place to order from when the appetite is hardy. You're talking soup, salad (get the greek!) entree which will include a starch and vegetable, desert and beverage in the median range of $15.00. And it is all good. Burgers are good too, breakfast also. Could eat here for a week or more and not get tired of it. It's packed every night after 5 but you usually won't wait too long. They own the area! read more

Used to go here for the French toast for breakfast. However, they changed the recipe (aka: switched to cheaper ingredients) and now the French toast is a soggy mess. Have tried other breakfast items, but they just don't compare. Thankfully, NJ does not suffer from a lack of diners. read more

If you grew up in Pompton Plains or neighboring towns, you've spent more than a few nights ending your night at "The Queen." Food is always good and service is always prompt. I especially love The Queen Salad which is the same now as it was 35 years ago. Highly recommended. read more

This place is always packed no matter what time day or night. My favorite go to's originally were the Greek salad and disco fries. This was until I tried the chop chop salad which is by far my favorite salad of any place I've been to. While salads can be a little on the pricier side, the portions are very large. read more

Serivice was excellent waitress and hostess were very kind the chicken and waffles are delicious and if you like having large burgers come here because these things are massive this should not disappoint it's also very family friendly and table for two friendly if this is the kind of place for a nice quiet date night just avoid going on Fridays that's when all the high school kids like to go eat here read more

Delicious food, and plenty of it! I have eaten here many times over the years, both by myself and with family. The meals have never disappointed. They also have a liquor license and a full bar. I have ordered a cocktail once or twice (not too often because I'm usually driving) and they have done a good job of mixing them. The portions, as is the trend in most diners, are big enough for two - I usually cut my entree in half before I even take a bite, and even then I can barely finish the first half. And when I have the remainder for lunch or dinner the next day, it's almost as delicious! read more

Is there a new cooking staff? I use to love this place. Recently, everything i order is mediocre and is not as good as it use to be. Today, I got a chicken wrap. The menu says grilled chicken but it was breaded chicken that tasted like it came from a frozen dinner. To the defense of the restaurant, I did not say anything. The staff is wonderful, though. Organic coffee! It is worth a stop here just for the coffee. I drink decaf and it was the best cup I have had in years!

Came in with my family on a busy weeknight. Place is cozy, server was very attentive, and the meal came out at a reasonable time especially during peak dinner hour. My one complaint was the size of our dinner entrees. My father an I ordered the chicken Tuscano and we ended up a little hungry after. My brother ordered Mac & cheese with pork and his meal was more filling than ours. Despite the size of the portion, our meals were delicious & had a lot of flavor. A lot of the other options on their menu seem appetizing so I'll definitely come back and try something else. read more

Great food, great service, great diner! I've been going for years and have never had a bad meal. The food is typical diner food with a large selection of outstanding fare ranging from gourmet pancakes, sandwiches to fine steaks and seafood. Their deserts are incredible too, chocolate covered cheesecake is my favorite. But to really get the best of this diner come for breakfast! Fluffy pancakes and better-than-it-needs-to-be coffee.
