Great food, great service, great diner! I've been going for years and have never had a bad meal. The food is typical diner food with a large selection of outstanding fare ranging from gourmet pancakes, sandwiches to fine steaks and seafood. Their deserts are incredible too, chocolate covered cheesecake is my favorite. But to really get the best of this diner come for breakfast! Fluffy pancakes and better-than-it-needs-to-be coffee. Love the food, the ambiance, the charming people in management and very capable ladies who bring us our delicious food......however, they need to enlarge the lady's bathroom. Not 5 stars because, well, its a diner, and it literally does not matter what time you come here, there is ALWAYS a wait. Another really great diner in NJ. This place has the largest menu (about 15 pages give or take a few) and ANYTHING you could imagine. I've been here about four times for both breakfast and dinner. Just about every time, the food is great and the staff is pretty nice. The cannoli pancakes are amazing, they do not go light on the cannoli cream and that is a huge plus. The only time I've been disappointed with a meal was when I ordered the mac and cheese, the dish was somewhat watery and the pasta was hard to chew. The best diner in New Jersey! We eat here all of the time. The menu is huge, there's something for everyone and a great kids' menu. I love the full dinner specials that come with soup, salad, dessert and beverage for under twenty bucks. You get to take a lot of tasty leftovers home for the next day. The staff is very friendly. The only drawback is the wait on the weekends, but that's to be expected as it's a victim of its own success. read more

For diners this is truly as good as it gets. Every single time we go in here the food is always great. I usually get the Tuscany Omelette with sun-dried tomatoe, sliced portabello and mozzarella. As diner food goes, I am a big fan of the Pompton Queen Diner. I have tried the Pot Roast Sandwich, the cheeseburger, some type of triple met sandwich with pastrami, turkey, and corned beef (no longer on menu it seems), the turkey club, and the Pompton Queens Sampler. The cheeseburger was good, not great but good. The pastrami was better than most I have had in diners, the pot roast sandwich was good, the turkey club was great, and the Pompton Queens Sampler was great as well. read more

Amazing place! Outstanding food and portion size, you won't leave there hungry! I mean it. You won't even want to drive after because you are so full. This place has everything from breakfast to deserts all day long. The waiters are so nice and make you feel right at home. It reminds you of when you were a kid and your mom/dad/guardian made you a nice home style meal and sat with you and made you feel all warm inside. The place is HUGE! Although it's big, so many people go and it's sometimes hard to get a seat depending on what time you go. But it is worth it after you try the amazing food they offer! Came in with my family on a busy weeknight. Place is cozy, server was very attentive, and the meal came out at a reasonable time especially during peak dinner hour. My one complaint was the size of our dinner entrees. My father an I ordered the chicken Tuscano and we ended up a little hungry after. My brother ordered Mac & cheese with pork and his meal was more filling than ours. Despite the size of the portion, our meals were delicious & had a lot of flavor. A lot of the other options on their menu seem appetizing so I'll definitely come back and try something else. read more

PQ has been a staple in our family since we moved to the area 13 years ago! Today we went with our family for a late lunch. It was super crowded. My daughter and I were walking to our table from the bathroom and both completely wiped out as there was a leak on the floor that no one saw or cleaned prior. Accidents happen, but the manager/owner nor any of the staff came to help us and make sure we were okay. Our waitress did ask when we got to the table, but even after we got to the table and through the entire meal, the manager/owner never acknowledged us or what had happened. We were both really shaken up and have aches and pains now as we did go down hard. At the end of the meal the check came and there were no discounts or anything. My husband actually had to say something and they took 50% off. The entire check should have been taken care of. Like I said PQ is our absolute fav but today we saw another side of the business that really turned us off. The lack of care or concern for what happened was non-existent. Seems they don't really care about their customers like we thought they did! It's all about the money! We are super disappointed. read more

Of all the diners I've been to, the service and food here is the best in quality. The servers are great and friendly. They have personality. The owner is so professional and accommodating. Delicious food, and plenty of it! I have eaten here many times over the years, both by myself and with family. The meals have never disappointed. They also have a liquor license and a full bar. I have ordered a cocktail once or twice (not too often because I'm usually driving) and they have done a good job of mixing them. The portions, as is the trend in most diners, are big enough for two - I usually cut my entree in half before I even take a bite, and even then I can barely finish the first half. And when I have the remainder for lunch or dinner the next day, it's almost as delicious! read more

Being a resident of New Jersey my entire life, I have been to a multitude of different diners, many of which have been disappointing. However, the Pompton Queen Diner is unique in the fact that it provides both wonderful service and delicious food. The waiters and waitresses work diligently to bring out food as quickly as possible and are never remiss in their responsibilities. The owners make themselves known to their customers, and when I'm there, it feels as if I am a member of a large, extended family. One of the most impressive aspects of the Pompton Queen is it's originality-- their "Blackboard" Dinner specials are different each night, and always include a meat, steak, chicken, pasta, and seafood special at a more than reasonable price. It is evident that much creativity goes behind their incredibly large menu, and as a consumer, I can appreciate the dedication put into this business. I suggest this diner to the tired businessman after a long day in the office, to the family of six who is wishing to spend a Friday night enjoying burgers, disco fries, and chicken fingers, and even to the local soccer team that wants to celebrate a victory, going over the winning game's highlights with a Queen Sampler and milkshakes. It is no wonder that the Pompton Queen has been here for more than 40 years... I hope it sees even more success in the future! read more

Growing up in Wayne, the Pompton Queen was a long time refuge for us as teens, and when all came back from college for breaks, we all flocked back there to catch up. The Queen was always a great spot for us to unwind and share great memories while gouging on perfect disco fries. However, I just came back from a trip to the Queen tonight, it was the first time in about five years that I had been there. I am quite disappointed, did management change??? They served skunked beer, cold lack luster disco fries, and a "medium-well" burger cooked medium-rare, every restaurant has a bad night, but on top of it all, tonight the manager was rude. Just sad to think about a place that has been the place for so many great memories, to be disappointing. read more

I will never return to this diner. Sam 'the manager' is the most nasty unprofessional person I have met in the restaurant business. They are NOT handicap friendly, the handicap parking is on the east side and up a ramp, you have to walk through the diner area to be seated and the put in the back dining room area on the west side of the building, it is self evident when someone is using a walker that they need NOT walk through the entire facility to be seated. Instead of seating us right in the diner area, Sam took a group of three and sat them right where we were standing, stating they were here first, making the gentlemen in that group feel awkward and embarrassed leaving a handicap woman just standing there. I ordered a carrot muffin that tasted like spiced sawdust and was charged an extra $1.00 for 2 - 3/4 oz cups of cream cheese. Yuck, that was sent back. Then over hearing Sam talking to another staff member asking if the people at the back tables 'were they ever going to leave?' is so unprofessional. And to cap off my awful experience, was getting a wad chewing gum on the knee of my new slacks and Sam 'the manager' stated 'just give me the dry cleaning bill' and dismissed the entire situation. I will tell everyone I know, to take their hard earned money and patronize another establishment where patrons are respected and treated kindly! read more

My family and I went the day after Christmas and ran into the Grinch. The hostess was the most unfriendly person ever. She asked if the whole party of eight was there and I said they were coming up the stairs. She said we had to wait until everyone was there. In ten seconds, when they walked in the door, she then said we had to wait. Apparently they were holding a table for fourteen with no one there. Does that seem right?? Only after fifteen minutes and walking into the parking lot to go to another diner, did the Grinch come say we can have the table. After driving around for a few hours me and my boyfriend decided to take a stop at the Pompton Queen Diner because both of us have heard nothing but great reviews about this place. I would first like to start out that the service is awful. The lady who seats you was extremely rude and threw the menus onto the table, and our waitress never came back to check on us or try to seem remotely intrigued about how our visit was going. As for the food, none of us liked the food we were served. I personally ordered a taylor ham egg and cheese with hash brown fries, and the taylor ham tasted sort of weird and unfresh, and I have no other way to describe the hash brown fries other than bad sweaty armpit. As for my boyfriend he said his eggs tasted unfresh and like they were made a year ago. Later on that night me and my boyfriend both got very unsettled stomachs. Due to the reasons listed above, I can not begin to see why the parking lot is always jam packed. I will be sure to never return and spend my money at this diner again. Goodluck if you go. read more
