While visiting relatives in Mesquite we stopped for lunch at Poncho's Taco Shop, and the food is delicious. Tacos are made with crispy shells formed with a pocket that allows generous portions of delicious shredded beef with plenty of cheese, chopped lettuce, onions, and tomato. This place is terrible. I ordered a bean and cheese tostado when I came out this flat shell with a little bit of beans on it and a bunch of yellow and white lettuce with just a dribble of cheese for like five bucks and then I ordered a bean and cheese an onion burrito. Lynnette came out with no onions hardly any cheese in 5 pounds of beans. It was terrible. I ended up throwing it out and going over to Del taco. Don't go here you'll regret it! read more

This place reminds me of the drive thru Mexican places that we have in my hometown. The food tastes good but it won't blow your socks off. My combo was #5 with a beef burrito and cheese enchilada. The beef in the burrito was tasty, didn't have any fat on it and reminded me of pot roast. However, the cheese in the enchilada wasn't even melted. The portion sizes are big. The chips and salsa were chips with Pico on it so that was underwhelming and in an effort to get the food out fast, they completely forgot my wife's order, so I had to get back in line and wait for her to get done with a drive thru customer. All in all, the food tasted good and was inexpensive, but don't expect it to be high end Mexican cuisine. read more

Stopped in here for a quick dinner. Ordered 2 beef enchiladas, 3 carne asada tacos and an order of chips and salsa. It took a minute to get through the drive through as there was kinda a language barrier but we were able to complete our order. Hubby shared his enchiladas were good not what he expected as the beef was like Carne asada not shredded. My chips and Salsa was chips with pico on top. That kinda made the chips soggy and there was no spice to it. I also think the chips were not fresh. I didn't know the tortillas were corn. So we just ate the inside of the tacos. Overall if we had to go there we would cause it's close. read more

The food was okay, not bad. But the people working here, the lady in particular, was rude on multiple occasions for no reason. Made my wife and I uncomfortable as they seemed to be so unwelcoming and passive aggressive. There are many other Mexican restaurants in Mesquite. We will avoid this place. Stopped here yesterday and got 3 rolled tacos w cheese and guac. Very surprised that these weren't the typical pre-rolled/frozen ones most restaurants similar to this one use. These were hand rolled, freshly fried, not greasy and full of tasty shredded beef. Tasted homemade. They were covered in fresh/seasoned guac, shredded cheese that was melted and dusted w grated cotija cheese that was nice and salty. Finally, both the red and green salsas had great flavor! When i am craving something drive thru food wise, this is my go to in Mesquite. I am obsessed with their green hot sauce and the chicken chimichanga. When i tell you the chimichanga is large, it could probably feed 2 maybe 3 people large. Their breakfast burritos are delicious and they use cut up potatoes instead of hashbrowns which makes it so much better. Their carne asada tacos are also really good! Very decent Mexican food. And I'm a native San Diegan. We ordered the carne asada fries, a California burrito and a carne asada chimichanga. We called the order in so pick up was quick and easy. The carne asada fries were decent. I prefer a larger fry that's a little crisper but the fry's were fine. The meat was slightly over cooked for us but flavorful and done right. Again this was a personal preference that we didn't ask for so no marks off for that. The toppings were good and seemed fresh. The California burrito was interesting. The meat had quite a bit of cooked onion in it and was very flavorful. The downfall to it was the potato and cheese were only at the very end. Poorly constructed but tasty burrito. My chimichanga was delicious. Very flavorful. I asked for no beans. I got no beans. The tortilla itself was amazing. They fried it properly and it was not soaking in grease when I dug in. Four stars because 3 is not enough and the flavor of the food was excellent. Can't fault them for personal preferences that I didn't relay. They could better build their burritos so you get all of the flavors in one bite. Will return. read more

I'm in town for work. Stopped by because I was craving a burrito or taquitos. I park and walk inside, theirs one person in side, but mind you I had looked at the ratings before going inside. Walked in 3 people were working. I wasn't acknowledged. ( one of the reasons for my ratings) So I said hi to them. They continued to talk amongst each other until they were done with their story. I ordered a burrito de carne asada with a large Jamaica. The burrito was ok nothing to wright home about. What I will say is that the tortilla is hand made. That's always a plus for me. Mind you I do come from LA were taco trucks are at every corner. The hot sauce was ok and the green hot sauce was ok also. So would say my overall experience here was mediocre.
