I stopped in on a Tuesday morning simply looking for a good breakfast burrito. I was tired of all the fast-food options that seem to dominate Mesquite, so Los Lupes turned out to be a really nice surprise. I was actually the first customer of the day, and everyone working there was pleasant, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable. The service was great, the breakfast burrito hit the spot, and it was refreshing to sit down somewhere that felt local instead of grabbing another fast-food breakfast. Before I left, they told me about their Sunday brunch and invited me to come back and try it. After the way I was treated this morning, I definitely plan to. I ordered the burrito and taco plate with rice and beans. I thought it was just ok. My wife ordered the chile relleno burrito the chile was not cooked and tough,runny beans. Just not good. Superb food for taking care of the Mexican heritage that you have somewhere inside of you. We all get the urge to spice things up a bit, and Los Luppes can fill that need. I was worried when I pulled into the parking lot. There were a lot of cars, and I thought that I'd have to wait for a table. But there's quite a bit of seating inside, and almost before I could open the door, I was met by a hostess and led to a nice booth. It was booth number 15. I was immediately presented with a basket of chips and a serving of excellent salsa. That stuff tasted so fresh. It didn't last long. I wanted more. I wanted to take the time to savor it while contemplating why there were so many cars in the lot and why they didn't correspond to the number of people inside. The Los shares the lot with other businesses in the strip mall. Other than the restaurant, none of those establishments seemed to be thriving. The drivers could have been at the pawn shop or dog spa. But that didn't seem likely. The pawn shop looked kind of sketchy, and the dog spa looked kind of small. Unless it only catered to chihuahuas, I didn't see how it could handle a pack of larger canines. So why all the cars?? Well, that mystery would have to wait. It was time to order. The menu was full of delicious sounding combinations. You could order one of these and one of those, or two of those and one of these, or one of this, that, and the other. The term combination definitely meets its criteria. The gentleman at table 15 ordered the number 14. The 14 consisted of a beef enchilada, a Chile Relleno, rice and beans. A whole lot of beans. I'm sure that didn't sit too well with my fellow blackjack players at the Casablanca casino. But I was on a win streak, so it was every man for himself. I should mention that there was one woman at the table, but she was so plastered that she wouldn't have noticed a bomb, let alone a slight eruption from yours truly. My meal hit all the right notes. A symphony of maracas and guitars. It was more than satisfying. It was Muy Bueno! Quick Tip: During my meal, I finally figured out my car brain teaser. There were two large groups of folks who were sitting across from me. When they finished eating, they all filed out and as I watched through the window, each went their separate ways in their individual cars. So the Mystery of Mesquite was no more. I should have figured as much. Though there was a liquid involved with the meal other than the obligatory water. That may have had something to do with it. read more

The service is good. Friendly staff. BUT......The food just isn't very good. I ordered a pork tamale, chicken enchillada and a chili reelleno from the ala carte menu. It was clear that the food was made far in advance and microwaved before serving. The rellano and enchilada were soggy and limp. No amount of average sauce could save them. The tamale had to have been a week old. Half of the masa was hard as a rock and inedible. I had a frozen margurita. It was watery and lacking in flavor. The furniture is pretty beat up. You can tell this place hasn't had any upkeep for a long time. The tables are too close together. Difficult to have a private conversation. read more

Slow service taking order when place was empty. House margarita started at $14. Seafood entrees were $30 and up in small working class town. The service was excellent!! Went there a couple nights ago for my sister's birthday dinner. The food was good I had the carne asada taco combo plate it was fresh and tasted great. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. The margaritas were fantastic. The staff were all very pleasant and friendly and kept the chips and salsa bowls filled. They even came out with a deep fried ice cream decked out with chocolate syrup and whipped cream with a candle lit and sang Happy Birthday. The inside is a bit dated but that didn't really matter to us. Also my husband's wallet fell out of his coat pocket and they found it and kindly held it for us. read more

Both of these could have been chalked up to an off night, especially as my parents had eaten there multiple times and enjoyed it. Visiting from Chicago, we got a recommendation to come to Los Lupes for some good Mexican food. When we first arrived this restaurant was a very busy so we knew the food must be good. We had to wait to be seated and the cashier was busy answering take out orders and so many patrons coming in and out to pick up their carry out orders. The menu was pretty extensive. I had a hard time choosing what to order. But I got the cheese enchilada and steak tacos combo. My husband got a chicken quesadilla and pastor taco. Everything was delicious. Los Lupes is quite the busy restaurant! I was in town visiting family and it was a must stop, so we went for dinner. There chips and salsa are quite good, really thin and crispy chips, sort of unique. The service was very helpful and friendly, getting us all the refills on drinks and chips that we needed. The food was yummy, I really enjoyed my Chile relleno, the rice and beans were tasty too! The chicken taco was good as well although next time I think I will try the fajitas, they looked super tasty! I'd easily bump this up to 3.5 if I could. (but it's not a 4) In town for a baseball tourney, we had fast-food for lunch and wanted "real" food for dinner. My son had eaten at this place previously so he suggested we try it (again, in his case). We were more than satisfied. Home cooked, authentic Mexican food. Large portions, nice wait-staff, fresh tortillas, great chips, good salsa. It was good enough that after the baseball ended the following day, we took some other friends and went back. I ordered Carne Asada plate and was very surprised when there was an actual steak on my plate. I was expecting strips or chopped steak. To their credit, it was cooked perfectly,...it just wasn't a high quality steak,...as compared to a restaurant that specializes in steak. So it was cool to get a whole steak, it just wasn't great. I did love the beans, rice, etc. It came with an enchilada - I ordered chicken. It was okay, nothing to get excited about, but if having a lot of food is important to you, you can definitely check that box,...they're generous. Son had carnitas plate. I tried one bite and it was good. Again, very generous serving. He loved the fresh, hot tortillas - we had both corn and flour. When we went back the next day, I ordered two fish tacos. Those, I would NOT recommend. Fish was soggy and tasteless. Son ordered one carnitas taco and one fish taco - he agreed, no reason to order fish in Nevada.
