a pond surrounded by trees and flowers
    Karen O.

Neil has done a beautiful job reviving my pond once again. I have koi that are over 25 years old in my pond and Neil uses the utmost care to make sure they are safe while the pond is being cleaned out. He has a giant holding tank to keep the koi in while the pond is being cleaned. The age of my koi and their fragility is one of the reasons I wait so long to clean the pond out, but Neil knows about koi needs, and how to treat the water and koi during and after the pond work. His aesthetic is perfect, and he leaves the pond looking like new again. Ponds like mine should be cleaned out more frequently than I have done, so Neil had a big challenge to fix my pond up. I trust him completely and am so happy about how the pond works and looks now. I would highly recommend Neil for anyone who needs to revive their pond or needs advice and suggestions about their pond!

Super helpful giving us the real, unvarnished details on our old pond. Definitely plan to call him again.

D Garcia Landscaping completed a large fence project for us and we are extremely happy with the…read moreresults! This was a technically challenging project involving a steep hill and very mature redwood roots. Standout qualities of this company are: 1. Ease of quoting process Before coming out in person, they were able to give us a ballpark price based on dimensions, fence type, and site images. This allowed me to decide whether to move forward and I thought this was really respectful of my time. Then, Dago, the owner, came for the site visit and to discuss details. 2. No bait and switch In ironing out the details, there was some miscommunication about whether staining was included. Dago was able to meet us halfway with the price increase. This honest business style continued throughout the project and no change orders or unexpected price increases happened. 3. Detail oriented Throughout the project, we discussed details such as fence posts placement relative to tree roots, post height, etc. Dago was both available in person and by email via his assistant Maria. It was also nice to have responses confirmed in writing so that things were clear and there would be no bait and switch. 4. Personality Dago is a really nice person and I enjoy speaking with his about his geriatric dogs, etc. This also helped me not feel anxious about the project, because I felt that I could trust him. For this fence, we received multiple quotes. Two companies were in the $9-10K range, another was around $12K, and an outlier was above $20K. Dago's price was the lowest quote (with minute differences in material) and we are very glad we went with him!

Recently, we had them to a full conversion/remodel of our backyard from awful weeds to nice natural grass, with an irrigation system, mulch, and tasteful plants. I was amazed with both how well it came out, and how affordable the project was! I would HIGHLY recommend using Dago Garcia's team for either regular yard maintenance, or any yard project you have in mind. Dago has decades of experience and knows exactly what he is doing- he is super friendly and helped us with great ideas. Give Dago a call!

4 stars for quality work. 0 stars for ethical business…read morepractices I hired Melvin and George from La Económica Landscaping after receiving a written estimate from their coordinator, Cindy, for work that included: * Garden clean-up & hauling - $1,375 * Mulch + small brick installation (combined) - $650 Total: $2,025 And a recurring monthly maintenance fee at $200 The crew did a nice job with the clean-up. Their labor and craftsmanship were good. However, the way this business operates is extremely concerning. Even though the scope was clearly defined both verbally and in writing, the owner later tried to change the terms of the estimate, claiming parts of the agreed-upon work were "mistakenly included." Throughout the process, there were multiple "gotcha" moments, surprise clarifications, shifting explanations, and attempts to downplay what was originally promised. Despite the written estimate explicitly listing a "mulch + small brick installation (combined)", the brick installation was never completed. When I followed up, they claimed it had been a "mistake" in the estimate and refused to honor that part of the agreement. Communication became defensive, taunting, and unprofessional, and rather than resolve the situation collaboratively, the owner sent a $300 refund before we had even reached an agreement, then canceled my ongoing maintenance service altogether. It's disappointing, because the work quality itself was solid. But their business ethics and communication practices are sketchy. They seem more focused on short-term profit than building long-term relationships or standing by their written commitments. They told me the brick feature would enhance the look of my garden. I guess I'll never find out. If you decide to hire them, make sure every detail is documented and signed. Otherwise, expect last-minute changes and confusion about what you actually paid for.

We've interviewed multiple landscaping contractors over the years for our sloped hillside backyard,…read moreand are so thankful we found Jose. What he's done for us so far: - 3' high retaining wall with french drain (this started out as a repair before we decided to redo the whole thing; it's way stronger and has proper drainage now) - 18x20' Batu deck (it is solid and gorgeous) What he's working on now - Creating multiple timber+gravel landing steps - Building a low basalt(?) rock retaining wall - Adding a gravel patio groundcover + poured-in-place concrete pavers - Irrigation and gopher wire underneath He is honest, dependable, humble, and just a good person. The work he and his team does is top notch and his quotes are so reasonable, you worry that there's a catch, but there really is not. I plan to pay a little extra when everything is done because he and his team deserve it. A few other things I appreciate: 1. He is easily reachable and communicative via text once the project is underway (not someone who says a lot, but who is good at confirming he understands or has received messages). 2. He is very smart and thoughtful about future-proofing designs or checking on other considerations you might not be thinking of yet. 3. His approach for building the deck aligned with all the best practices I had read about, and he did not complain at all when we asked them to do the joists 12" O.C., use joist tape, add gopher wire, etc. 4. He is really patient, flexible, and understanding with changes in design or modifying plans as we go (I try not to ask for anything too major, but it's been really helpful to work with someone who doesn't mind that we might be making final decisions as we see things take shape). My experiences with other landscaping contractors have ranged from "full service high end design but very hard to reach and $$$" (we ultimately decided not to work with them) to "seems good quality but tacked on 30-40% more to the quote after the job was done" (we decided not to work with them again). Jose falls into "very high quality work for very reasonable price" and is simply the best landscaping contractor we have worked with. We are very lucky to have him in our community.
