Once I frequented this shop more the more the issues came. went to change my exhaust manifold and going to this shop has been the worst mistake I've made. Spend around $260 to get the new gasket and to install $260 is a generous amount for this repair. I got my car back with no gasket and half of my bolts switched out to old rusted bolts basically got switched out for old car parts. The younger guy tells me he changed my gasket initially I couldnt here the noise of broken gasket but after the second time I started my car the sound was back not sure if he just glued the gasket together or what. But that has been the worst job anyone has ever done even after paying $260 he denied me when I went back to get it fixed with out charge couldn't even get a refund for being robbed for my parts. If you go to this shop make sure the older gentleman attends you and works on your car, the younger kid seems to get work from him sad case for customers

I called the shop from out of…read morestate today (on a holiday, no less) and spoke with Dee, who graciously allowed me to have my college-aged daughter have AAA drop off her non-working Honda Accord for repair. I explained to Dee what we and AAA thought the problem may be (a bad alternator or serpentine belt) and Dee said they would take a look and have it repaired today. He gave me an estimate over the phone and had the car repaired in a few hours at the exact price quoted. It turns out it was a bad alternator, after all. I am so grateful for Dee and his shop for taking my daughter's car in last minute and ensuring she'd have a working vehicle for her first day of senior year of college tomorrow morning. Thank you for being so kind, helpful and timely with the repair! Will definitely return in the future!

Told they will have it done by end of day, got a call around 130pm and told me he can hear a noise with a "stethoscope" on the wheel bearings, would cost up to $1,700 to change front bearings, but not a safety issue. I told them get the brakes done, that is most important, I need my vehicle at the end of day. Said they will try to get the brake parts, didn't order yet for some reason, got another call a little later saying John won't be able to do it today because he never ordered the parts. To TOP IT OFF, I go to pick up the vehicle and John wants to charge me over $100.00 just because he took the wheels off! I can go to Meinekie for a FREE brake check, I told him to do the brakes, he didn't, and he tries to give me a bill for $100.00 for pulling off the front tires and listening to the bearings for noise. It's a shame, we have family and friends in town with a combined 12 cars or more that would love to use a local business for it's auto repairs. This is pound wise and penny foolish behavior. He should of just buried the cost in the brake job, that I would have had him do, not now.

They don't explain or are too lazy to pick up a phone to let you know BEFORE they start blowing all your money and doing useless work. They where told to repair the a/c, they didn't. They just recharged it for 565.00 and put dye in it. Never solved the issue, never tried, just a way for them to make 565.00 for doing nothing. I can re charge the a/c myself for 30.00 from NAPA. They will charge you 565.00 for doing nothing and will laugh in your face when you are forced to pay it. This could be the most dishonest shop in Marblehead, the most expensive, and the laziest. It's not about taking good care of their local customers, it's about making as much money as they can at your expense. Go to Barrett's Garage in Marblehead, honest, kind, trustworthy, accommodating and just all around nice. I look forward to sharing my story with everyone I know, including some that are customers right now and others that plan on going there in the future. I live right by the shop and look forward to seeing them around town regularly. As you can clearly see from a review someone posted 8 days before mine with a 1 Star, they also got ripped off......... THIS IS COMMON PRACTICE FOR THIS PLACE!!!! Also, if you see the replies from the owner KATIE B, she is unprofessional, childish and rude. I guess we know where the rest of the staff take their cue from. Explains a lot.
