(WARNING, two gentlemen run this shop if I'm not wrong father and son. don't let the son touch your car he did all my "repairs") I've been on top of my cars maintenance, first time I went to get tires rotated he did what was needed for cheap. Once I frequented this shop more the more the issues came. went to change my exhaust manifold and going to this shop has been the worst mistake I've made. Spend around $260 to get the new gasket and to install $260 is a generous amount for this repair. I got my car back with no gasket and half of my bolts switched out to old rusted bolts basically got switched out for old car parts. The younger guy tells me he changed my gasket initially I couldnt here the noise of broken gasket but after the second time I started my car the sound was back not sure if he just glued the gasket together or what. But that has been the worst job anyone has ever done even after paying $260 he denied me when I went back to get it fixed with out charge couldn't even get a refund for being robbed for my parts. I highly recommend Canal Auto Shop for any of your car repair needs. I called the shop from out of state today (on a holiday, no less) and spoke with Dee, who graciously allowed me to have my college-aged daughter have AAA drop off her non-working Honda Accord for repair. I explained to Dee what we and AAA thought the problem may be (a bad alternator or serpentine belt) and Dee said they would take a look and have it repaired today. He gave me an estimate over the phone and had the car repaired in a few hours at the exact price quoted. It turns out it was a bad alternator, after all. I am so grateful for Dee and his shop for taking my daughter's car in last minute and ensuring she'd have a working vehicle for her first day of senior year of college tomorrow morning. These guys rock. I came here 100% because of the reviews and I thought that it was too good to be true, but they are amazing. I was able to bring my own parts and they charged me for labor. I've been there twice in the past 30 days and they took care of me with no bullshit. This place never fails to amaze me. I have three vehicles and 2 teen drivers. Between us there is always something going wrong with our (old, worn out) cars. I come here for my oil changes and any time a tire issue arises. They are friendly, professional, reasonably priced and the turn around time is incredible! I just went in today to check a tire that went flat while driving in the storm over the weekend. There was a large gash and the tire couldn't be saved. From the time the mechanic looked at the tire in the trunk until the time I drove away with a replacement installed was 6 minutes... seriously 6 minutes... are you kidding? No, I'm not kidding and the total cost was $40. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this garage to my friends and family. read more

Last week my Santa Fe's warning lights for ABS, traction control and downhill control suddenly appeared. After searching around for repair shops which only deepen my criticism of Pride Hyundai (no available service until August!) and then being quoted a fee of $175.00 to just prepare a read out of the diagnostic code (by another former Hyundai dealer in Danvers), I was getting a bit frustrated. Fortunately, I went to the AutoZone dealer in Salem and they printed out the apparent cause of the warning light. No fee for the diagnostic printout!. Thank you AutoZone. Next to AutoZone I noticed Canal Auto Shop which came highly recommended by the AutoZone personnel. I was able to make a reservation for the next morning to have Jeff the owner fix the problem, which was a rear wheel bearing that needed replacement. I was very satisfied with the overall price and service plus the quick turnaround. Great Service and I will be a repeat customer. As a side note I viewed on line the correct protocol in researching the a ABS warning light issue by a certified mechanic. Angels in Disguise!!! My husband had an unfortunate meeting with a pothole on this subzero, frozen night (he's from California, so he needs a quick lesson on driving in the East Coast!), leaving us with a giant hole in our tire. He searched fruitlessly in the trunk for a spare or donut tire - can you believe they don't stock a brand new car with those anymore??? (Will complete that thought on a later rant, haha) We were approached less than 5 minutes after pulling over by these angles, who have names: Jeff and Manny. They educated us on to the extent of the damage and if luck would have it - their shop was less than 1/4 of a mile from our current site. They found a tire fitting to our vehicle and replaced our damage in less than 20 minutes with a bargain price tag. These guys need to be recognized for their good samaritanism and exemplary work. Professional, courteous, sweet - they need to be canonized ASAP, Vatican, you hear me? ;0) From here on, I attest that whenever my car needs some TLC, Canal Auto Shop will be my go-to place! These guys are LIFESAVERS. I had an issue with my car starting and the check engine light went on. Was so nervous I brought it to the closest place near me. (Note: NOT canal auto shop). The crooks wanted to charge me upwards of $1k for an oil change and a tune up. Dropped my car off at Canal. Got a call that it would be $250 for the same work the other place had quoted me. Couldn't have been more pleased. Was referred here by a friend. Didn't see the shop because I dropped my car off at night & picked it up after business hours. I had to replace a tire on my wife's Car since it was punctured from the side. The guy I met there was very friendly and informative and he gave me a really good price on the replacement tire. when I returned home, I stepped out of the vehicle and looked at the newly installed tire. I noticed that one of the bolts used to mount the tire was visibly sticking out more than the rest. I discovered that the bolt was just mounted in the threads and was not even hand-tightened. I still get the chills when I think about that given the fact that this car is used 100% of time to transport my toddlers to and from daycare/preschool. read more

Took my 2010 Honda accord for weird noise in front end. After multiple visits they kept repairing something that never seemed to solved the problem . Replaced struts, inner and other tie rods, links and a bunch of other stuff they recommended and noise still persist. After spending all this money on nothing finally took it elsewhere to find out the rattle was coming from the rack & pinion. Bunch of idiots these canal tire repair shop. Thats all theyre good for changing tire. Going to places like these you end up getting what you paid for. Wont trust these bunch of bozos with my car again. read more
