I had LED headlights installed to replace my halogen lamps that came with the car. I needed to improve my visibility and resulting safety while driving at night. Jimmy tuned into my request very quickly, he picked out appropriate LED lamps and did the job in an hour. SS also, without delaying the work, replaced 3 other lamps that were burnt out - diligent work. If you want a bright, shiny place that charges an arm and a leg while giving you crappy coffee and mediocre service while you wait for five hours, that's the dealership... and SS Automotive isn't for you. It's dirty. It's busy. And they talk to you straight whether you're a guy or a girl, in a dress or in a filthy overall. In the midst of it all, these guys know what they're talking about and pull no punches. I was on jury duty when the rear tail lights stopped working on my 1996 Volvo. I was lucky to find this shop as they diagnosed the problem to be faulty wiring on a previously installed car alarm. I needed a miracle worker to resurrect my F350. A cracked frame, a dead starter... I was feeling pretty hopeless, especially after having purchased this truck only a year and half ago with 115k miles on it. Then I was referred to Jim by a local Ford dealership as the go-to guy for impossible cases. Facing off with rust or rot; they were said to be unflinching. When I arrived I found a busy shop and a quiet waiting room. Then bursting through the door and up to the counter came this guy who had a no-nonsense, sharp-witted Tony Stark vibe. Jim didn't seem the kind of guy who suffers fools, but he was also the kind of mechanic who takes on the impossible cases, like mine. A good mechanic likes challenges. I could imagine in his spare time he is probably building some sort of steam punk Iron Man suit. You get the sense these guys could be building flying cars out of spare parts. So here I am, incredibly grateful. They have an honest and professional approach. SS Automotive has character. When you get to know these guys you will be impressed with how sharp they are, and how they will cut to the chase. They are also really good hearted and can do the impossible, all at a cost I can actually afford. Miracle workers? In my book they are. I have been going to this shop for the last 5 years and let me just say that they are absolutely the best auto shop out there! Jim & Ken are very knowledgeable on all types of vehicles. They are reasonably with pricing, stand behind their work 100% and they get the work done when they say it will be done. I bring all of my company trucks there and my own performance cars. Infact, I had them do an engine rebuild on a 1969 GTO Convertible for me a couple of years back and when it was done... it was everything I expected and MORE! Pleasant, quick and honest. I went to SS Automotive for an oil change. I called my usual mechanic 3 days in a row and he was so busy he couldn't take me and wouldn't schedule me for an appointment. So I did a quick search, found SS Automotive (the repeated use of the word "honest" is what drew me to them), called ahead and they said that they could take me right away - so easy! They were very pleasant and friendly on the phone and in person, and I really appreciate that they didn't try to sell any extra services. It's hard to find a good mechanic and although I just got an oil change this time, I will definitely utilize them in the future for any needed services (fingers crossed, nothing major). First of all this review was moved so that no one could see it. I found it and re-posted it. I went here a couple of years ago to get an upper coolant gasket replaced. They fixed the coolant problem but now there was a leak immediately right after the fix with the oil. I could smell it and see it on the bottom of the car every time i started it. It was directly related to the problem that was fixed. I didn't want to bring my car back to these butchers to have the work done. I have already fixed this problem myself when the weather got better to do so. They damaged a coolant hose in the process and denied ever doing it even though it was obvious. I had to put up with a lot of bull from the owner about this issue for a few days. They also over tightened the oil bolt almost stripping the threads in the pan. I was also harassed by an employee for an issue with the car. These guys really don't know what there doing when it comes to being professional and courteous in this competitive business. This is a reply to the comment left by the owner below. I leave my comment to warn others of poor workmanship and attitudes from disgruntled and harassing workers who don't know anything about acting professional and courteous in the competitive automotive business world. All my comments are true and informative so that others can see and learn from my experience if they should encounter any. There is nothing harassing or any name calling in my comments. Also why does this business have so many five star reviews? I mean there should at least be some four, three, or even two star reviews in here. Shouldn't there be? No one could ever be that satisfied with good workmanship all the time which it's mostly all five stars throughout. It's probably because he is hiding them by only having the bad comments removed. I would think twice before going here. Another comment I noticed is his own! What desperate business leaves a comment for himself... really. Just look and see.
