We had to make very drastic changes to our wedding due to the COVID situation and Yvonne literally and figuratively delivered that day. I read an interview from Peter from Somis. He wrote it one year ago. I went yesterday (Tuesday, 2023). That same "no walk ins" sign is still in the window. For the second year in a row I've ordered flowers in honor of my grandmother's birthday for my brothers who she lived with prior to her passing. Last year I simply described my grandmothers favorite flowers, colors, and that she was always blingy and often wore butterfly and such in her hair. It was called "Arrive in Style" and I chose it for its soothing, nearly monochromatic look. What was delivered, however, was not what I saw on the website. The arrangement they delivered was, sorry to say, ugly. I called them to express my displeasure (the arrangement was for a grieving widow) and they offered to credit me $5. Er, thankkkksss? I walked into The Ponderosa Flower Shop 15 minutes before they closed. My Father passed away and I was in a fog. I had my 5 year old grandson with me and he had to use the restroom and was asking 101 questions. The owner of the flower shop (sorry I forgot her name) was very patient and understanding. It was very short notice (2 days) I didn't know what I needed or wanted. She made some suggestions and made the process as smooth as possible. I didn't know what to expect as I felt like I just nodded yes to the flower suggestions. When I arrived to the funeral home and saw the beautiful sprays and casket topper I instantly felt a huge weight lifted. Especially when everyone commented on how beautiful the flowers were. I needed a beautiful flower arrangement for my daughter in law's mother, who is an expert floral arranger herself. Since I live out of the area, my D.I.L.suggested Ponderosa as the best florist in town, and told me her mom's favorite blooms. I knew I needed something gorgeous, with all colorful, fresh blooms, and it needed to be delivered where the person answering the door might not speak much English. Esther, the amazing, kind, and detail-minded lady who took my phone order, made sure all the flowers I asked for were in the cheerful arrangement, which they custom made for me, and personally delivered the flowers at the exact time she quoted me, AND even took a photo and texted it to me, so I could share it with my D.I.L., who also lives out of town. They both were THRILLED! It certainly helped her mom's recovery by bringing her much joy! Esther said the secret ingredient they put in the flowers is love. That is what they delivered, for sure.
