This seems to be one of the only markets in town, and it has a decent variety. Just, more on the packaged food variety- it wasn't busy & there wasn't an abundance of anything fresh. The food court is kind of obsolete. For a Saturday, it was pretty much shut down. No activity or fresh deli food whatsoever. Noticed the same with produce when walking through the store- very SMALL produce section, and quite pricey for the quality available. This ended up being more of a last ditch effort to find what is readily available. There was only one staff member working, that we saw. She was manning both the register & also tobacco/alcohol counter along with everything else. Constantly having to apologize for a brief wait- where are all the other employees? There was a local selling homemade salsa & chips at the front near the entrance. That was actually the highlight of this visit. We ended up getting some great snacks! Also loved the fun Arizona Lottery scratch card "scraper" keychains available! This is a great "I forgot something" stop. Otherwise, it would be difficult to do a full grocery shopping round here with the limited selection, produce in specific. A lot of items have been sitting for a minute. The parking lot suggests it's a lot busier than it really is. For how many vehicles were parked, we were virtually almost the only ones in the actual store. Also noticed there is a video rental center- not sure if it is closed or still open to the public but it wasn't sectioned off. Probably the last of it's sort these days! Decent prices for what you can find. We appreciated there is a local grocer, but it's likely locals are getting all the major groceries elsewhere because this one doesn't offer nearly what you'd find in a major chain with everything readily available. The best thing we got here was the homemade chips & salsa from the local seller at the table front of store.

Checkout is now to the side by the doors. Great job updating.

Always friendly staff. They have saved me gallons of gasoline by not having to travel back into payson. They have frozen foods, canned goods? Small quantities of fresh fruit and vegetables. Large selection of beer, chip and bread. Just about everything. They are doing a small remodel moving the checkout from the middle to the side. They should be able to stock more items with this update. Ponderosa provides a valuable service to this small town. They may never compete with the mega supermarkets, but the prices are reasonable. I am grateful to have the Ponderosa Market.

    Small town grocery store.

Small town grocery store that has all the little things you may have not packed, and some great locally made chips and salsa! The gentleman had samples and we had to have for wine and cocktails in our cottage later in the evening.

Nice place to pick up items you forgot to bring with you on your trip to Pine. We have a house in Pine and as we need we stop in for things we run out of or forget to bring. There is a coffee shop inside and I make a daily walk to sit for a while and drink a cup. Everyone is exceptionally friendly. This will be my coffee spot when I am in Pine. Yes there are others. They or most are not open at the hours I walk and want a coffee or they are only open on weekends. Thank you for being open at 6:am and being friendly.

It's small and selection is limited but it beats having to drive into Payson to grab essentials. Parking lot is large and this seems to be in the center of town. They have fresh meat and produce, alcohol (beer, hard A, and wine), condiments, bottled drinks, DVD rentals, rotisserie chicken, canned goods, and ice.

Nikki works with the efficiency of a Swiss watch. She can wait on you, serve you, and juggle two other tasks all at once -- chatting the whole time about how great it is to be in Pine. She knows everyone's name, what they usually order, and even a little about who they are. She truly is the hostess with the mostess. The Tap Room is small -- it seats about 25 to 30 -- but it carries an incredible inventory: craft draft beer, tasty wines, and amazing cocktails, plus some great bourbons and whiskeys. No matter how packed it gets (and it gets very busy, all the time, usually standing room only), Nikki is at your table at exactly the right moment to ask if you "need another," want to "order some food," or could use a glass of water. It's amazing to watch, and it creates one of the most fun atmospheres in the whole state of Arizona. They've got live music too -- one- or two-person bands whose singers are part of the crowd, not just there to entertain. It really is "a bar where everyone knows your name." Nikki is the star. She's your hostess, your server, your bartender -- and most importantly, your friend. I couldn't recommend the Tap Room at OCI more. Go see Nikki. As the saying goes, it's worth the trip.

The iconic Punkin Center Bar with its giant pumpkin sign. We made the drive from Phoenix and it was absolutely worth it! The green chili pork burro (their famous pulled pork green chili burrito) is hands-down awesome--tender, flavorful pork smothered in spicy green chili, wrapped in a massive tortilla. Pure comfort food perfection. The chicken wings were crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and perfectly seasoned--some of the best bar wings I've had. What made the visit even better was our bartender Becky--she was super friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home with great recommendations. If you're craving authentic roadside eats and hospitality, detour here--you won't regret the trip!

As huge Halloween fans, we were excited to visit. Unfortunately, our experience didn't match that excitement. While we understand and appreciate being carded, the interaction felt unusually uncomfortable. Our IDs were examined for several minutes, and throughout our visit we felt judged based on our appearance rather than welcomed as customers. What should have been a fun stop quickly became awkward enough that we decided to leave after just one drink instead of staying for food and additional drinks as we had planned. The property itself is large and has a lot of potential, especially for a small-town destination. We enjoy exploring Arizona's small towns and supporting local businesses, which is why this experience was so disappointing. A welcoming atmosphere goes a long way, and unfortunately that was missing during our visit. That said, Jake's Corner down the road was fantastic and ended up being the highlight of our trip. (For clarification, the bartender that made this experience not great said she was the owners daughter - this was around 2 on Father's Day)
