This place is delicious! The inside is so fun and feels like I stepped into a tropical island. They have a good number of toppings and I love how you can pick your sauce separately, instead of the protein being pre marinated. Portion size is also satisfying, and I had a bit of rice leftover. I liked their seaweed too, instead of the typical bright green strings, it was the one you'd find in soup. I did want to ask for a tad bit more sauce, maybe because I got a lot of toppings I needed more. I'd go here regularly for my poke bowls, i dont think you can beat the price and portion.

First off vibes were amaze. So many plants everywhere! Got the build your own which is only $12.50 for a pretty big size with unlimited toppings! Such a good deal and super high quality ingredients. Will be back!

I like this Hawaiian food place. Good food, elegant decor, nice atmosphere and quick service. I had Mochiko chicken rice bowl (large), thanks to the photos on here. It's amazing. The chicken was like orange chicken but less crispy and less sauce, which I prefer. It was tasty. There's a bed of veggies underneath the chicken. Yum! I'd try other options in the future!

Pono Ono is a popular poke spot. The interior and decoration are nice, with lots of greenery. Service is polite. I thought the food was OK. The fish quality was fine but nothing amazing. I didn't find the Umami Tuna ($11.70) very flavorful or memorable, but maybe some of their other poke bowls with different sauces are better. It's fine for a casual meal, but for a quick meal I prefer Picnic across the street (same owners but different genre of food).

Got size regular with 2 extra ounces of fish tuna sampler. This was absolutely delicious and very simple and exactly what I wanted. Would definitely order again. Good portion for the price.

[Pono Ono Poke] Poke spot in Evanston The food was good. It's self service kind of. I couldn't even tell you what half of these were besides the first one which is The Works and Vegetarian one. Food was super quick. Seafood was super fresh and there was other things I wanted to try like their shrimp bowl. Short review, enjoy. 7/10 https://www.ponoonopoke.com 1630 Chicago Ave Evanston, IL60201

The students in my office recommended that I try out Pono Ono. Boy, they were right. I can't believe I haven't been here sooner! I ordered a customized tuna bowl. Did half rice and half salad with chili mayo, seaweed salad, cucumber, avocado and tobiko. My daughter ordered salmon with honey gochujang, same toppings as mine and edamame. We both loved our bowls. Everything was fresh and has great flavors. My daughter especially liked the honey gochujang sauce. I found prices really reasonable. Service was excellent! I may have to come here weekly!

Best Poke I've had in the Midwest hands down. The lively music and greenery gave the place an awesome aesthetic. The staff here rocks and were super friendly. Phill is the man! Highly recommend

Probably the best place for poke in evanston, fresh fish and lots of toppings. Cute shop with outdoor seating. Chipotle style service and you get a discount of you wear a Hawaiian shirt!

The food here is great and I think it's a good size for the price. There's enough seating everywhere and you get a discount if you wear a Hawaiian shirt/have a Hawaiian ID. There are a lot of plants everywhere. The staff here were friendly too. But when you pass by, it does look like it might be closed because it's so dark.

I love that as soon as you enter, you are transported to a tropical oasis that is dark and moody. I visited with a larger group so we made a reservation before. One pays $5 per person in your group and the amount is later applied to your bill. The food menu is minimal and most items weren't available sadly. We got two orders of their pineapple salsa with taro chips. It was yummy but wasn't enough substance to match the drink levels. For drinks, our group got a wide variety. They have all sorts of flavor pairings to accommodate every guest. I got the Captain's Revenge after hearing the Pearl Diver was unavailable. It was good but not amazing. For my second drink, I got the Chocolate Banana Old Fashioned which I thoroughly enjoyed. I didn't hear anyone in our group be disappointed with what they ordered. Our server, Jazmine, was very knowledgable about the menu and asking the right questions to make sure what we each ordered would be something we liked. Overall, this was a fun experience and I am happy I finally got to visit! My experience was slightly tainted with how much was not available the night we visited.

We tried the longanisa and egg musubi, which I surprisingly did not love which was sooo awesome!! Just so fatty and delicious!! Also tried the tomato jam and egg musubi, which has incredibly subtle flavors of garlic and furikake, a small dollop of tomato jam spread, and the tamago. I really enjoyed this subtle bite and thought the rice to ingredient ratio was perfect!! Finally, I've been so jealous of the influencers filming themselves eating at the beach!! Anyways, got a 2 scoop poke bowl with spicy ahi and shoyu ahi. Both my friend and I thought the spicy ahi with the spicy mayo and sesame oil hit harder!! Poke was super fresh, and while the bowl itself is small, the actual poke portion is incredibly generous. I found myself not having enough rice for the amount of poke!!

We ordered the popcorn chicken (half original, half spicy, $27) and the dolsot bibimbop ($25). My BIL had said that the popcorn chicken was really good at least a year ago, but things must've changed! The popcorn chicken was dry and stodgy, low quality with flavorless breading. Then I found a big piece of bone in the chicken and when I brought it up politely to the waitress, she just said that the chicken came like that, and essentially said that it wasn't really cut in-house and was packaged when they got it. Huh? No wonder it's not good--they don't even care about the quality and just buy some bland prepackaged fried chicken. No offer to replace the dish or even a small discount or anything, despite the fact that I've never known any place to have "popcorn chicken" that included bones. Anyway, the folks I was with also said it was not as good as it used to be and the portion sizes were smaller. Bibimbop was fine--a lot of rice and had to ask for more gochujang sauce to have more flavor. Not much bulgogi in it. As another reviewer mentioned, there's a 20% auto gratuity, which I don't think is deserved.
