Was really looking forward to this place and because there was a BOGO deal, I though it would be a nice time to try. So, I ordered all 5 of the chicken variants, and they all tasted the same. I was hoping for a sweet-island-pineapple inspired taste, but it was not. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I expected. Secondly, they should state that rice is included under the chicken entree. My order wasn't complicated, all I wanted was 4 lbs of the teriyaki chicken. I've already ordered that amount just a few hours before, but it wasn't enough meat for my weekly meal prep, so I didn't think it would be a big deal to order again. When I placed the order, the UberEats driver got there, waited for almost an hour, and cancelled the order. I was confused because they didn't say why they cancelled, so I ordered it again. The same thing happened. The UberEats driver arrived, waited for almost and hour, then cancelled. I was getting even more confused because according to the app, the place wasn't closed. So I figured 3rd time's the charm and placed my order again. When the UberEats driver arrived and waited a while, he messaged me and said that they didn't receive my order. I was confused because both me and the driver got the confirmation that my order went through. What occurred next was the most disrespectful and unprofessional thing I've ever heard. When the UberEats driver asked the people at the counter to make the food I already ordered (he showed them the code that other delivery driver's input to confirm the order), he said the chef refused to do it. I was baffled because huh?! What do you mean the chef refused to cook my order?! I placed it. The app said I did. Plus, that was almost $80 worth of food that the place could've been paid for that he's refusing to cook. The UberEats driver wasn't given and explanation for why my order in particular wasn't going to be made. The workers just said no, ignored him, and continued preparing other orders. Not only did they waste my time, but they wasted the UberEats driver's time too. Now I was out of food and he wasn't going to get that $30 tip. What kind of chef for a take out restaurant just refuses to cook an order for no reason?! That's the most idiotic, immature, and unprofessional think I've ever heard. You're a chef for a ghost kitchen! You don't get to be picky about what want to cook! Teriyaki chicken isn't even that complicated of a dish to cook, so the chef was just throwing a fit for no reason. This ghost kitchen is a prime example of why they're doomed to fail as a concept. That chef either needs to be fired or get counseling because being that rude and unprofessional to a paying customer would never be tolerated in any other restaurant. Does anyone remember the food court favorite known as bourbon chicken? I've been thinking a lot about it lately and it may have inspired my idea to purchase this for delivery. Bourbon chicken for those unaware, was a popular food item served at fast food Chinese purveyors found in popular malls in the late 90s to today. Today's rendition is not near the quality of way back then. Roasted, chopped, dark meat. Seasoned and tossed in a peppery, sweetened bourbon liquid. No real bourbon was used, maybe simple flavoring but to those that knew, bourbon just meant sweet. So I ordered a to go platter with two styles of the chicken and added on a third. Somehow I just knew this was going to be a one-and-done scenario. Molokai, Honolulu and Huli Huli. Opted out of the rice ball, subbed steamed veggies and the mac salad. One consistent across flavors was that the chicken was fried through. Many dry pieces. I'm sure they make a large batch and then flavor as requested. Nothing special. The sides are boring. I don't mean to bomb on cultural foods but there have been comments on the web that agree this isn't all that authentic. Mac salad is macaroni tossed in flavorless mayonnaise and topped with some kind of dehydrated vegetables flake. Forgettable. But if you need something to clear the palate between bites, it might do for some. Look, if you enjoy food courts and the combination of salty /sweet this is right up your alley. It's the sides. They don't add anything. The rice is quite sticky and does a good job as a carrier. But do you remember that I opted out of rice? Regardless, they take up space by flattening rice and then pouring your chicken choices over the top. For the spend, especially given it was a doordash, not worth it. As a ghost kitchen option it's average. If they had a food truck and served this on corners during warmer months that would make sense. What's wild is this is prepared in a kitchen yet still has the dryness of sitting under food court heat lamps. read more

I showed up on time and still ended up waiting over 30 minutes past the scheduled pickup. When I asked about the status of my order, the employee was rude and gave attitude. But feels like there used to be nearly no distinction between the sweeter chicken options and the spicier chicken options. I quite like their spiciest chicken options - I think it's the Kilauea that's the spiciest which is great. Tons of awesome flavor. And I love that effectively every dish comes with a bit of rice and mac n cheese. Classic. The mac is a bit unique and quite flavorful - some specks of pepper or something that add to it. This time around, my order contained black burnt flakes/grill residue throughout the chicken. There were also larger brittle pieces. Every bite was like chewing on egg shells. Because it appeared to be contamination from the grill or cooking surface, I did not feel safe eating the meal. And throwing away what I know is such tasty food sucked cause now I'm still hungry and wondering what part of grill residue I consumed. Very high quality chicken, no gristle and that's important for a white meat lover. The large quantities in protein make it a great value as well, you can easily make an order into two meals. The veggies are fine but the Mac salad is best eaten cold and creamy. They have a very convenient location to pop in and pick up your order. However, the parking lot can get busy and tricky. To be honest, it's difficult for me to distinguish the different chicken flavors. Of course, the spicier one is uhhh spicy. But the good thing is, I like them all, they're all on the sweet side. They'll throw in some Teriyaki sauce packets, both sweet and good tasting. Also, if you're conscious about your white rice intake, you can simply double up on the veggies. I order from here very frequently and think the BOGO deal on Ubereats is one of the best deals out there! I always switch up what I get but my favorite is the Molokai chicken and Huli Huli chicken (their signature teriyaki chicken). The Honolulu chicken (garlic, green onions and sesame) is also great. The chicken is always tender and juicy and so flavorful. The luau pig is on the drier side in my opinion. The macaroni salad is also very creamy and delicious! You also get a lot of rice. I went to Honolulu a few years ago and had some of the most incredible food there, I haven't found anywhere here that compares to it yet but this place is great and satisfies those cravings. As for the food, I got the large mixed plate. It was definitely big on portions. I only ate about 1/3 and was full. The huli huli chicken reminded me a lot like Trader Joe's teriyaki chicken while the Kilauea chicken was more spicy and flavorful. The Mac salad was a lot more mayonnaise-y than I'd like (and actually prefer their competitor's Aloha Eats version). There was a portion of rice in the bottom of the meats too! Overall, this is a good place to check out due to its location (instead of traveling all the way to Lincoln Park for Hawaiian food) and is cheaper than other competitors too. I've been ordering from Hawaiian bros for years and have always been very happy at the quality of the meals. They remind me of many Hawaii trips in growing up in So Cal. Lately, the quality of the meals are starting to really slip. I've been ordering less often due to this sad change in quality. I believe it's important to share this critical feedback so that they can get back on track. I ordered two meals today and here you can see side-by-side the Mac salad coming out both very wrong!! Neither are the quality that you would expect from this establishment. Although, I'd wish there were more options for sides as it didn't seem you were able to substitute. They gave us two teriyaki sauces and one pineapple bbq sauce. Times are hard out here so I appreciate the sauce gesture but an even amount would have been perfect for both. Both sauces were great mixes with the meats and white rice! I'd suggest to hold off on the huli huli chicken as it wasn't our favorite. The luao pork was tender, juicy and delicious. We also enjoyed their Honolulu and molokai chicken the best! read more

I can see how it's not for everyone; one bite is kinda like a bite into a chunk of lard (and I mean that in the most blissful way). Super rich and dangerously addictive. So I decided to try some pick-up today for dinner. The mixed plate always seems like a good place to start. So I chose the LUAU PIG and KILAUEA CHICKEN. The LUAU PIG is like a delicious pulled pork without the sauce (you can add that yourself) It's so good and mine wasn't too wet and wasn't too dry. Probably great for sandwiches *if* you have any leftover! The KILAUEA CHICKEN is also a great dish, listed as their spiciest item. As a spice addict, I found it to be milder than I hoped, but it will probably be spicy enough for people with normal palates. Juicy chunks of meat a bit reminiscent of a really tasty chicken dish from a Chinese restaurant. They were so generous with portions. If you order pick-up, they will deliver your food right to your car. I can't believe this diamond in the rough is literally hidden. If you're able to find it, you'll be super happy and ecstatic at the food in store. Not only does it take me back to the flavors and delicacies of Hawaii, it tastes just as fresh as if they made it back on the island. I hate giving out bad reviews but if you've been to Aloha Eats in Lincoln Park then don't even bother coming here cause Aloha Eats is way better. First of all, I was very excited to try this spot out cause the food looks delicious and the reviews were great but what a disappointment this place is. I ordered the Molokai chicken classic platter with side of Mac and let me tell you, this chicken was not even spicy at all. No heat whatsoever or even a little, it's just sweet, dry and hard. This location is not a restaurant front, you walk in and there is a tablet where you search for your order and then go to the pick up locker they assign to your order. I was about 15 minutes early but couldn't find my order on the tablet until EXACTLY the pickup time. A little annoying, but I get it. I ordered a lunch special classic mix plate with kalua pork & Honolulu chicken along with a spam musubi. The musubi was ok, it had the tiniest strip of nori holding it together. I wouldn't get it again personally but it wasn't bad. The pork and chicken were great though! The macaroni salad was salty but good against the sweet chicken. I used to live around that area so it's so cool that they have a ghost kitchen opened there for these various restaurants. I got the small luau pig and it comes with macaroni salad, rice, and I got some sauce on the side. So delicious that I want to come back and try all the other small plates! I came here after the gym so I devoured the entire small plate, which I think was a great filling portion. If I got the large, it may have been too much. I'm not a huge fan of macaroni salad, but I actually didn't mind this one, and ate it all. It was good, but would be cool if I could substitute it for a different side since it also already comes with rice. Not sure if I have missed any substitutions while ordering? The teriyaki was sweet and flavorful and you got large chunks of chicken that was delicious. I'm never a huge fan of macaroni salad but this one doesn't taste like your average grocery store one.
