My parents are moving into Ponte Palmero, and we have had the pleasure of not only being onsite various times, but working with the staff in preperation of my folks entry. In particular, Brenda Sepulveda has treated us like family from day one, and made us all feel like my parents will be living in an extension of our family home. The staff leaves residents in soiled briefs for hours, especially if there is any difficulty in moving/changing the resident. Residents who complain of pain are told they are "faking" it or just attention-seeking. One supervisor and several "caregivers" stated their belief that one resident, newly admitted, didn't actually have Alzheimer's, but was just pretending to have it. They screamed at her regularly, to the point where you could hear the yelling (by the staff) from the other end of the building. If you have to admit your loved one into memory care here, I strongly recommend putting cameras in the room. Or better yet, just don't do it. Find somewhere else. Anywhere. The residents are treated like obstacles that have to be avoided while collecting paychecks. read more

At first glance and when paying full price the care, private room and privacy were all fantastic. After the first year and when . Personal account funds were short of full price the fees were supplemented by state programs and then it all went down hill. personal clothing, custom bedding, bath towels missing. We find her wear oversized sweat pants that she would have never worn with hair all messed up, the room mates excess belongings and trash cans placed in the center of shared room creating trip hazards, with roommates belongings placed onto the wrong bed as if my mother is in the way of the other resident. Un explained injuries and sadness is unbearable. Look for a better place. read more

My parents have lived here for several years in one of the independent houses. They love their house and the overall community BUT... the food is mediocre at best and the kitchen seems to have constant turnover. Often at dinner they will wait for 45 minutes to an hour for their meal to arrive and when it does it's cold. Given that food is one of the main activities that all seniors love, it's a big disappointment that they can't get this right. They've made suggestions, written complaints and NOTHING get fixed. Before placing a loved one in a memory care unit be sure to inquire about the medical resources, Doctor, RN and qualifications of care givers. You will be surprised how poorly supervised this area is. The California state requirements are very lax. An all too common approach is to medicate and not deal with patient. Most dementia patients also have medical problems that need to be addressed in a timely manner. Be fully informed. read more

Facilities are very upscale but the personnel is below standard. My father started in assisted living and finished at the Lighthouse which is the Alzheimers building. For that two year period the food quality was poor and the staff attention was unreliable. My father is now in a small 6 person facility and gets personal attention and the food is freshly made in front of him. A lot of the food served at the Ponte Palmero restaurant comes frozen out of a box, not freshly made. For the price that is unacceptable. I believe one issue is that Ponte Palmero front line staff is mostly made of young adults under 25 years who don't have much interest beyond getting through their work shift. Better facilities employ older staff who take more time or have more patience with the elderly. Upper management keeps a low profile. So, the facilities are nice but personnel is below standard. read more

We moved my mother in this year 2/2018 and she is very happy at this facility. The staff is amazing and treat the residents with patience and dignity. They are very flexible with special requests and the facility is beautiful. We have eaten in the restaurant several times and they try to appeal to everyone. The menu varies daily and I have no complaints. Breakfast is served all day and the residents can even take Food to go. The staff make sure that there is plenty to do and their daily outings vary with a wide assortment of interests. A Casino visit, Local Wineries, Grocery Stores, or Tourist attractions. Ponte Palmero has beautiful 1,2 & 3 bedroom apartments. They have many social events, large pool, game room, physical therapy on staff and much more. They offer no care, partial care or memory care. The staff is wonderful! I highly recommend Ponte for your parent or relative. read more

Ponte Palmero is truly beautiful. This community covers it all. They have duets for the independent residents. Apartments with a full care staff for those who need some assistance, and the lighthouse for memory care. A full kitchen, pool, and many planned activities. This place also has a fleet of vehicles to drive residents to appointments, pick up meds, and go shopping. Finally Ponte is a gated community with a gate guard during business hours, not to mention the excellent maintenance staff. I truly enjoyed the time I spent on the facility. read more

This retired community is beautiful, don't get me wrong, but the food and lack of concern from the upper management team is what I have a gripe with. The homes are updated with gorgeous appliances, carpeting, and landscape. I would move here myself in these homes if I could because they're that nice. Also in a gated community, it has nice views of the Cameron Park area and the first time I visited, I was very impressed. Now I've visited my relatives here on numerous occasions, and the times we've dined at the clubhouse have not been too bad until today. Clearly they are working with a budget to feed each and every person plus their guests, but the quality continues to decline each time. Brunch was a disaster in my eyes and the rest of our party had some complaints, but they were overall somewhat satisfied. Perhaps I'm too critical in some eyes, but the thing about Yelp is sharing every detail, the good and bad. If waiting an hour until our orders were taken, and a half hour until our food was served isn't enough, two of the eight orders were wrong. I can't completely pin that on the waitstaff, but I am almost certain there are issues in the kitchen because clearly the quality of food (for how much they charge to live here!) is not here. The breakfast danishes are like croutons and are clearly kept frozen. The fruit medley is not fresh. The cantoloupe also has an odd aftertaste. The hash browns are obviously frozen and look like the ones at McDonalds. The sausage patties are disgusting in both flavor and texture. These are just some of the many things wrong with the kitchen alone. I'm not surprised that each of us now have upset stomachs after our meals, and I rarely feel ill after a meal, but this time it's no coincidence. Then they have the nerve to send their waiters to collect payment in the middle of our meal. Stop hiding behind your employees and come over yourselves if you require it so urgently. They clearly treat their employees like utter crap for making them embarrassed for having to do this. I was terribly embarrassed for them. The waiters look exhausted and still manage to be very polite and kind. Half the folks here either don't cook or don't know what quality meals are, nor care about the quality of food they pay the outrageous price for, so they eat three meals a day here. If you try bringing your concerns up to the cook, Diane, good luck because you'll need it. However, you'll feel as if you have a target on your back. There is no advocate for the residents who raise their concerns on certain issues such as the food. Someone told my relative, "if you don't like it, then maybe this isn't the right place for you to live." It's odd to me that their website regarding their Dining by Design program says, "The program won the Assisted Living Federation of America's (ALFA) 2010 prestigious "Best of the Best" award for the innovative Dining by Design program. Ponté Palmero will offer this program, providing their residents with one of best culinary practices in the country." Well, that award was four years ago, so perhaps they should consider the quality has gone down since? One might also be surprised to learn that if you complain to upper management, the resident will be harassed in ways that seniors should never have to deal with, such as feeling uncomfortable going to the very place that socialization occurs: the dining clubhouse. These issues, within a place such as Ponte Palmero where they boast their "prestige" amenities, are uncalled for. I strongly feel that the owners of this community need to focus their energy on the kitchen and take a closer look at the folks they make apart of their management. read more

The community is wonderful, modern, well kept and shows great pride. The staff takes time to get to know the residents and to make them feel cared for. My parents, like many of the elderly, were not excited to make a change but have been nothing but happy with their new home. My parents especially love the Friday happy hours with wonderful appetizers and social atmosphere. They look forward to it every week! read more

Our parents moved to Ponte Palmero Assisted Living in 2013 when they were 88 and 89. They were reluctant to give up their home but due to declining mobility and health they agreed. They came to love their full kitchen and extra bedroom for family to use when we visited as well as the convienice of having their doctors, dentists, hospital and shopping nearby. They became close to their patient and cheerful Caregivers who; after 5 years, became like extended family to them. We held family gatherings there and even had access to the BBQ grill during summer celebrations. They took part in free exercise classes,and offsite trips to RedHawk Casino. We joined them often in the dining room for meals and enjoyed the varied menu and well prepared food. Overall, we found Ponte to be a well organized, well managed and enriching place for our parents and for our entire family. We highly recommend it. We looked at several places before moving my parents here to assisted living, Ponte Palmero is way above the others with professional staff who are very patient and I have not noticed a high turnover, we know them al well. The dining room is elegant, and the front desk staff give it a wonderful atmosphere, truly feels like a resort. Food is delicious and there is plenty of variety. Staff has responded to all questions in a timely manner. It's never perfect to move parents into another place, but Ponte Palmero was right there helping us adjust. read more

WE moved my mother into Ponte after we lost our father....My parents had been considering assisted living for 2 to 3 years and could not pull the trigger.....but after my father passed my mother started talking about Ponte immediately. Everything went according to plan. The marketing staff was amazing and very helpful with details thank goodness because it was a very stressful time for us. My mother ended up with a beautiful corner unit that was close to the clubhouse. The unit was clean, fresh, roomy and had lots of storage. It was nice to have a single garage for storage. The staff was friendly and competent. They really took to my mother which was great. In a very short period of time she made friends, was going to church on sundays and was enjoying the exercise classes that were offered at the facility. The fact that this facility has outside space for each residence is a plus. Several times when I came to visit my mother was enjoying her front patio and the fountain that was situated very close to her apt. All and all I would highly recommend Ponte Palmero. My mother was grateful for the care she received and felt safe in her environment, knowing the help was near if she needed it. My Mom has lived at Ponte Palmero for about 3 years now. She started in the duets and loved it there, as she was very independent. The 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom home was perfect for her and for my out of town siblings when they came to visit. As she needed more assistance we moved her to a 1 bedroom Villa (apartment) close to the Lodge. It is easier for her to get to meals now and she is more in the hub of activity, if she wants to be. She has taken advantage of their bus and van that will take her to Doctor, Dentist and other appointments, as well as trips sight seeing and to concerts. She enjoys most of her meals, especially Friday Night Happy Hour and the musicians that play after dinner. I enjoy the Sunday brunch - especially the crepes. They have some great employees. Betsy, the assisted Living Director, has been awesome (we're happy that she came on board after the other nurse left). My Mom's helper Hannah has been a Godsend. Even Casey who now mans the gate into the complex is very friendly. Lucio has been very helpful to her also. This place was the best choice for us at this time in my Mom's life. She has enjoyed the many friends she has made here and likes pushing her call button if she needs help. She feels safe here and I like knowing that she is watched over when I can't be around. Overall it's been a good experience for us. Yes, there are some issues (the good food servers move on to new jobs too quickly) but for us it is the right choice and the location works great for us. read more

We moved my loved one in to this community a year ago. She is an extremely independent who had to come into assisted living kicking and screaming. She is a woman who wants things the way she wants them and has no problems telling you if and when you get it wrong. After living 90 years on her own we were worried about how she would take to living in an assisted living community. We toured many places. This is the only one where a senior can have not only a car but a full kitchen in assisted living. Their homes are more like high end condos then the little hotel rooms most places have. We moved her into a 2 bedroom 2 bath. The staff, all a way around, has been amazing! They have taken the time to create a relationship with our love one. She loves Carmon one of her favorite care givers and she thinks the maintenance crew walks on water. When her sewing machine table broke the maintenance crew not only fixed but they went above and beyond to go and get the proper screws to do the job right. It sounds like a small thing. But that is what they do; they excel at the millions of small things we as her family have not been able to do. She loves it there. Something we never thought would happen. When she started showing changes in her memory and abilities, the change was so sudden and shocking. The staff rallied around our family with support not only to our loved one- but us as well. They walked us through what the next steps were and supported us all the way through it. They offered us solutions, helped with contacts. They were honest and direct with us, while at the same time they would not let us jump the gun and kept us thinking positively. They were focused on what would keep her not only safe- but happy and the most comfortable. They knew her enough to know that she would be happiest in her home, and they worked with us on ways to keep her there for as long as possible. (because they were thinking about HER wants and needs not just what was easiest on them) When we had to move her to the Lighthouse, Angela the community nurse and Barbra the director of memory care were so supportive and helpful and kind. They helped make a horrible time for our family easier. They really took care of everything. All we needed to do, was be there for our loved one. What touched me the most was how the people who cared for her in her old apartment made a point to come by and say good bye and the real emotion they had about not getting to be her caregivers any more. I know that sometimes people talk about the tricky-tacky things like not liking the way the dinner is cooked or the waiters were too slow one night or to complain about that this or that was not exactly right. It is easy to get fixated on those small details. Lord knows our loved one did. But now after going through what we just did, we realize that what really matter in the end was the overall care and experience not just one bad plate or night. The night the waiter was slower than normal, maybe was the same night the same waiter took an extra moment to ask us how we were doing- and really wanting to know the answer. It was the time she took an extra moment to get to know our loved one and tried to make her day just a little brighter. They Day it takes the nurse a few hours to return you call may have been the day we spent crying in her office, because she let them go to voicemail, while she stayed focused on us and making sure we understood what was happening and how we, as a team were going to move forward. It's the fact that when the chips were down and our world was changing- they were there not only to help pick up the big pieces, but because they knew us, because they knew her, they were able to grab all the little one we never thought to look at and as a result were able to put us back together again. (To the best of their abilities) It was care for us as a whole, not just going through the motions. read more
