Came to this store to drop off a pre-paid Fed Ex package. Being an avid Yelper, I am used to doing reviews for most establishments I visit. I snapped a few photos while waiting in line and the person behind the desk was not happy. What was to be a regular in-and-out visit, turned into a prolonged conversation about Yelp as the proprietor was not happy about me doing review of his place or snapping pictures of him. The store is a simple old-fashioned office center. A bit disorganized but nothing out of the ordinary. Fax, mail, supplies etc. Not bad at all. But then not special either. To be transparent I didn't ask for permission to take a picture of him and he is right to request me to delete it. However after deleting photos and showing him my phone as he insisted, this person would not ship my package until I deleted photos from the deleted folder and showed him my phone for verification. I obliged as I believe he had a point. The part I disagree is insisting that I also delete pictures of the messy store he didn't like. I obliged again while negotiating which angle should we keep. 500+ reviews on Yelp and this is the first experience like this. Perhaps the next Yelper will not be as accommodating as me. read more

I stopped by Pony Express last week to drop off a FedEx return. I thought I would leave a review for this business as all of my experiences with PE and the owner have always been positive. I read some of the previous reviews for PE and was really perplexed by some of the negative comments. The owner has always been kind, courteous and extremely helpful. At Christmas a few years ago (his busiest time) he went way out of his way to find a box for my odd shaped items to fit in. I don't know about you, but it's rare to get that level of customer service these days. As for complaints about the store being closed during business hours, please remember the owner runs the business by himself. If he has to close the store during business hours, I would be willing to bet the farm it's because he HAS to, not because he wants to. Pony Express has been doing business in Fountain Hills for 21 years, so they must be doing something right! This Pony express is one of the best mail places in AZ. Joe is one of the friendliest people in this business. I hate going to USPS and certain other places because the employee attitudes. But Joey is awesome and very courteous. Great place. Even if you have to drive a little further use this place. It will save you a lot of aggregation. read more

This location has moved. The new location is just down the street in a bigger building. I like this place because they are a FedEx authorized ship center and I can drop my packages off here. Joe, the guy who is usually working up front is extremely nice too. The only thing that I didn't like was the amount of money they charge for boxes. I went in to buy a box and it was $7.80! A similar sized box at Walmart is less than $1. Granted, the box I bought was very sturdy, it still seemed like a steep price to pay for cardboard. read more

This is our first time using Pony Express in Fountain Hills and we will never use another shipper. We had to return two Ebikes due to a shipping error and Joe could not have been more helpful. He helped unload the 70 pound boxes from our SUV, noticed there was a problem with the return shipping labels from the vendor and was very helpful in facilitating getting the correct FedEx labels. Very kind counter help but completely out of touch when it comes to office services. I stopped in to have a 39 page document printed from an email and was quoted a price of $5 for the first four pages then seventy five cents for each additional page. I passed and went to the nearby UPS Store and paid $6.73 for the entire document. As much as I try to give my business to local establishments, this type of service makes it extremely difficult. read more

Used this guy once and never again....shipped a package that needed to be returned back and the first words were "Well I can't refund your money and it will cost extra to return". Wow really. Then the package wasn't stopped as I was told and it took a conversation at 5 am with the Fed Ex facility manager to return the package to AZ. Without me making that call it would have been delivered. Then the Fed Ex driver tried to deliver back to the location in Fountain Hills, AZ, and the store was closed Even the Fed Ex driver was perplexed by not being able to return a package when I caught up with him on the street. Bottom line, borderline rude, seemingly lazy, and expensive. I've been to the previous location a couple of times and, as another reviewer wrote, shipping materials are ridiculously expensive. Stopped in today for a simple mission: drop off a prepaid FedEx overnight package (containing sensitive documents). How hard can this be? Asked for a receipt and was told, "we don't give receipts". So I asked, "are you not a full-service FedEx location? to which they replied, "yes, but we don't have to give receipts. Most people just take a picture of the package with their phone. You can get tracking information after 4pm". While another review commented they were nice, based on this exchange I found their attitude to be less than service oriented. I guess it was just too much trouble for them to take this PRE-PAID package that they simply drop in a shipping bin. And regarding taking a picture of the label - that serves no purpose insofar as proving that I dropped the package off and they accepted it. If at this point they lost it (or worse, stole it), I have no proof whatsoever that I dropped it off. In contrast, I have shipped UPS many times, printing my own labels. Every single time I have dropped off the package at The UPS Store here in Fountain Hills (also a franchisee just like Pony Express) they ask me, "would you like a receipt?" and then provide one with weight of package, drop-off time and tracking info. I've noted it takes them under 15 seconds to scan the label and provide the receipt. Adios Pony Express. What possible reason would I have to come back? Shipping supplies are available all over town for far less than you charge, and other businesses have proven, unlike you, that they value my business. If I have to ship FedEx for some reason, I'll drive to a REAL FedEx location, or just schedule a free pickup. read more

Very friendly people. This was my first time here and the store had very welcoming feeling. The man behind the counter was very prompt and professional and I was also given a variety of choices with different shippers. I never really new FedEx had ground services and that they were comparable, if not cheaper than UPS services. The price difference wasn't a tremendous difference from UPS, but enough to make a difference in the long run. I like the fact that I have several choices not to mention my items were professionally packed. Its nice to know that my crystal will arrive safely on the other end. If I would of packed them, they might have been damaged in transit from my understanding due to my bad packaging. (Crystal was almost touching cardboard) I also love how easy the parking is! Been to the UPS store before and I'm always feeling scared in that parking lot with the congestion and crazy drivers. At Pony Express you pull right up to the door. And I don't feel like I have to worry about getting hit by a car! lol... no but seriously, great spot and not a lot of traffic. Kudo's to Pony Express for the nice experience! read more

Its been awhile since I have had to ship anything, but I remember them finding a cost effective way for me to ship my boxes so I thought I go back. Parking is super easy as there really isn't any other stores besides the Chamber of Commerce next door. Once again a good experience. Very friendly and great customer service. What I like the most I would say is the rate comparison between FedEx, UPS and Postal Services, and FedEx seems to always be cheaper than the other services. read more

Found myself going to the old location just up the street from the new location of Pony Express mainly because they are located in Fountain Hills and very close to my house but after the most recent time stopping in there I have made up my mind I won't be coming back. Before I would have just described them as over priced and not overly friendly but after waiting in line for well over five minutes.......not because there were several customers in front of me mind you, just standing there waiting to be helped as the person at the front counter was talking to the customer in front of me(after they had helped them and completed the transaction) for well over five minutes while giving me a very sarcastic acknowledgement that they would be with me in "just a minute" and then proceeds to continue to talk to the person who was ahead of me about their personal dating life and the ups and downs of their relationship which needless to say is not just something that you normallly reserve to talk about outside or work hours, it's just downright rude to do it in front of a customer who is standing a few feet away and can hear your conversation and has a package in their arms they are holding and wanting to drop off so it can be shipped!! I would have said something after waiting maybe a minute and seeing the person in front of me had been helped and was done with their transaction if the conversation I overheard hadn't been so bizarre and had me wondering is this really happening right in front of me as I stand here wanting to bring my business to you and you have me waiting so you can gossip with an obvious regular? I left shaking my head wondering if that was the owner or if the owner would appreciate their help talking to their customers about their personal life while a customer stands there wating to be helped.........but I don't think I really care to figure out what the outcome would be I just rather give my business to a company that knows basic customer service guidelines and knows the meaning of being professional while at work. I would not waste your time going to this place if you are looking for a place to ship a package there is a UPS store right here in Fountain Hills and others within a few miles if you are heading towards Scottsdale and all choices are far superior to this joke of a privately run shipping business. read more
