Great spot for a beer or flight while exploring Bel Air, MD. Minutes, hop skip and jump away from The Liriodendron Mansion. Checked that spot out for their holiday market and after driving from DE need some time to decompress with some local drafts. The brewery has over 20 different brews with sours, stouts, IPAs and lagers. Service was quick and efficient with them walking through all the different pours and offering samples to peak my interest. Their seasonal peppermint bourbon will blow you away. I usually don't do the dark beers but I would drink this all night long until Santa arrives. The space is both indoors and outdoors with special events that take up their community area with the taproom usually open to the public during events like Christmas Wreath workshop. read more

Independent Brewing Company is a decent place to pop in for a brew should you find yourself in Bel Air, Maryland. While I am not familiar with other local breweries and am not a connoisseur of beer in general, this place seemed like a nice social hub, with a food truck on site and live music. The only thing I wasn't a fan of is that there is no table service, so you have to stand in a fairly long line to get drinks yourself each time you want a drink (or food from the food truck), yet they ask for gratuity (not a fan of the business model when personal service isn't really provided). I went with their "Blue Eyed Blonde" beer. It was nice and cold, but also felt it wasn't anything special for a Belgian blonde beer compared to others I've tried. Beers are decently priced at $6-8 for a glass. There's a mix of indoor and outdoor patio seating, and the area with live music does tend to get packed when music is being performed. I would rate the place a 3.5/5, but happy to round up since Yelp doesn't allow for half stars. After ringing me up she asked if I needed a reciept without offering me the card reader. When I said no, she pulled it away. What a great area. They have multiple seating options both indoors and outdoors . The ambiance was great especially with the music playing. Outdoor areas have games in certain places. The beer is flavorful and tasty depending on your flavor pallet. My friend enjoyed the cosmic lasso. They have non alcoholic options as well. Food wise we utilized the food truck that was there. We discovered this place as a meet up with other friends and their kids. (We weren't the only ones with kids so that was nice haha) Fri night, super crowded. It's definitely popular. If the weather was nicer, the outdoor space could have been utilized but it was rainy and cold. The indoor space was great. The servers were friendly and helpful. They don't do flights on weekend nights which was a bummer but the beers we tried there were good. It was convenient to order food from the food trucks online. Lots of beer options, many outdoor seating areas, pet friendly, good food truck. My boyfriend and I went here after a hike at little gunpowder falls and had a great time with our dog. There is street parking in front and on the side. There were several seating areas outside including a huge tent which I think may have covered their parking lot. There was a band inside an heaters, but it was nice enough that we sat out on the back lawn at picnic tables. Nearly every picnic table had a dog so definitely recommended for friendly, social dogs. The lawn is huge with lots of tables but it did fill up eventually. It was nice to have a place to actually walk the dog was was contained/not on the street. There were a lot of great beer options though I didn't see any beer flights which was slightly disappointing. We just got pints and everything was delicious! We were looking for somewhere new to try on a rainy Mother's Day, so made the trek down from PA, and started looking for breweries. This place was really cool. The layout is a bit like a maze, but it allows for large crowds and ample seating, both in and out of where the action is. They had live music in the corner of the main bar area. The beer selection was immense, and there was definitely something there for every pallet. I'm an IPA fan, so I was able to try two of those, and they were both great. My wife really enjoyed her light lager too. My only disappointment was that the only bar food to be had was either pre-packaged stuff, or food from an overpriced food truck (not their fault). Party vibe in terms of happy and upbeat conversations and groups. In nice weather there is also big outdoor space. For December, nice old pick up truck with Christmas tree by door. It was a blistering hot Fourth of July day when F and I rode our bikes to Independent Brewing Co. We were staying at a local farm. I really liked the set up and vibe here. There is plenty of outdoor seating with shade. F and I sat in the cozy yet breezy container/alcove and enjoyed a variety of offerings. I especially liked their rye beer. It seemed like many people had the same desire to get out for a cold one, but we never felt it was too crowded. Went for a flight after hiking, and ended up here because our original choice didn't allow dogs. So glad we did. The live musician, friendly bartenders, and fun seating made a great beer pit stop. They have soooo many beer choices, a flight of 4 will run you $10, with individual beers ranging from 6-7$. It was very hit or miss, but thats expected for a large variety. The ones I didn't love werent awful, more 2-3 plain ranking (most of their IPAs), but the ones I loved were a solid 5 (rye porters). On the IPA side, they have lots to choose from, but the flavor profiles need some work-they blend together-only the Nasty Woman stood out, with the Supercalifa...being the worst. The stouts are good, not syrupy! Parking lot gets crowded, but there is street parking nearby. We always bring out of town guests here, because it's such a great little hangout spot in Bel Air. They installed misters in their outside spaces for hot days, which is genius! The beers are creative and there's a lot of variation that we look forward to trying with each visit. Today we had the chocolate hazelnut porter. It was smooth and so drinkable with notes of vanilla, hazelnut, and coffee. If you see the owner, he's usually very busy but will take time to chat with you. Another fantastic brewery in BelAir! Stopped in to check out their brews. They have an excellent layout with lots of outdoor, COVID safe seating. Twenty different brews on tap with one even non-alcoholic. I tried the Blacklisted which is a Schwarzbiwer. It's a dark heavy stout with an excellent flavor. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Independent is EASILY my favorite place in Bel Air. Maybe my favorite place in Harford County as a whole. The beers have all been good, my favorite beer they have is The Juice is Loose. Their selection is really good with a wide variety of styles from IPAs to sours, stouts, and more. As an added bonus all of their beers are brewed to be gluten free. I can't even tell a difference between these beers and other gluten containing beers so that's good (unless you are reallllly into wheat beers). The ambiance here is also awesome. You can bring your dog into the front bar area as well as outside and that may be one of my favorite things about this place. Good beer and dogs is a winning combination for sure. They also have a food truck on site that changes on different days, so there is always a solid option for food. If you haven't been here before I highly recommend coming. Unique brewery located in the heart of Bel Air. There's definitely a hipster type vibe because it also doubles as an art gallery. If you're running/walking the Ma and Pa trail it's walking distance so makes for a nice post-workout beer spot! I decided to get a flight and tried four of their beers. All of them were really good! My favorite was the Wanderlust. $10 for a flight isn't too bad. All of them are apparently gluten free if that is something that means something to you! I believe they serve little snacks here (I never saw the menu but thought I saw a snack menu) but they also have a food truck outside. I believe there's different food trucks throughout the week-- the one that was there when we were there was the Crossroads food truck. The food truck was pretty good minus anything with crab dip. My friend and I split crab dip fries and it tasted like the roux never completely incorporated and the dip was really gritty and unappetizing. I didn't take off stars cause the food truck is technically separate and doesn't have its own Yelp page. I also got a curry burrito and it was good and a unique menu item.
