What a great asset to Murphy to have this excellent restaurant downtown. The food, service and ambiance are all exceptional.

I liked the first come, first serve aspect and chalk board sign up list. We were there at 4:40 for a 5pm opening and were seated promptly at 5pm. The food was very good and well prepared. Our tab was over $170 with tip for the two of us, and at around 6:40ishpm our waitstaff became overtly frustrated at us lingering at our table conversing and asked us to leave our table or sit at the bar. I felt extremely rushed and have never experienced that level of blatantly at telling us to "move on" at a restaurant. I would not return or recommend this place due to that treatment. read more

My husband & I ate at Poor Parson's Pub a few days ago. It really was worth all the hype I've heard & read. I'm native to Murphy & I have not ever had a steak taste as good or be as tender at any other restaurant here. It's expensive but I've paid as much at other places with poor food quality and several drinks. It's just a small place. Hours are a little different as well. read more

They say to remember it's a pub that serves food. Good food. Really good food. Servers are very attentive and well trained. White tablecloths. Black napkins. New silverware. Like you would find at a fine dining establishment. But it's a pub. The pub has a long bar and plenty of barstools and an excellent bartender. They have Guinness on draft! Beer, wine and liquor for the pub. The Master Chefs are behind glass walls right at the front of the restaurant. You can watch them do their magic. The pub is a bit noisy for table conversation. Back home for a short visit. Traveling over the country building restaurants it was a pleasant surprise to visit Poor Parsons pub this evening in Murphy. Service was right on top and very attentive. Meal was very good everything prepared properly and fresh. Open kitchen where you can watch the food being prepared. started the meal with fried oysters which are fresh and tasty. We got the truffle fries for an appetizer and oh my goodness were they delicious! For dinner my son and I had the Steak Sinatra. The filet mignon was amazing, cooked perfectly and the lobster mashed potatoes were to die for! My husband had the New York Strip Steak and baked potato. He thoroughly enjoyed his meal to the last bite! The pub was decorated like an old school pub would be. Nice atmosphere to relax and enjoy your food and company. Good food, horrible service. Ordered an appetizer after 30 mins of waiting and after finishing our salad we just cancelled it. It didn't matter because she told us she never put the order in. We also learned well after we had placed our order that they had daily specials. We learned about the specials not from our waitress, but from over hearing another waitress telling the table next to ours. When we finally figured out we weren't going to receive refills on our drinks I finally spoke up about the poor service, asked about daily specials, "oh no, Im sorry I forgot." She did offer to give us a free dessert. I refused the dessert, not to be rude, but because we had a home made dessert waiting for us at home. The salad with homemade dressing very good. We both had filet mignon, both were cooked perfect. It sucks a nice meal can be ruined by shitty service. read more

Best steak around as the owner Scott has been in the restaurant business most of his life. You can see him grilling your steak thru the glass window. He is "spot on" in all of the details. We drove miles out of our way on a road trip, just to see his new venture. You will love it! read more

We just tried the new Poor Parson's Pub, but wow! We both had the Steak Scott, which is steak, lobster, a creamy sauce with capers, cooked to perfection. The Steve's Truffled She-crab and Lobster Bisque is one of the best things I have ever had anywhere. We got the truffle fries instead of the baked potato and they were great. We were up visiting and happened upon this gem Halloween evening! We arrived just before table seating and the bartender let us know we could choose to sit at the bar or move to a table at 5 PM. We opted to remain at the bar, where our bartender made excellent draft recommendations, and was so attentive and pleasant. I was skeptical about ordering seafood so far inland, but literally the lobster bisque, the fried oysters, and our swordfish tasted unbelievably fresh, and were cooked to perfection! We briefly met the owner/chef, who was so kind, and even while they were extremely busy, took a moment to speak to us. We can't wait to come back and try the steak. I wish I could remember the ladies names to give them accolades, but the entire staff Halloween night was just fantastic. read more

I have been at Parsons now three times since new owners moved in. I'm excited there's a new place in town. That is actually open past 9 o'clock. My review is as follows with last evening being my latest visit. 1. Different/new hostess? Good 2. Waitress - good but too attentive. in other words, she spent a lot of time interrupting our conversation. A little mentoring would help. 3. I ordered the special which I was told was chicken piccata. It was actually almost a half of a chicken roasted with a lemony, garlic flavor. First, the chicken was cold. It was very nice that they replaced it with a hot version. Just as important is that it was not chicken piccata. It's important to call it what it is, but it was not chicken piccata. It was very tasty. And I enjoyed the fact that chicken was on the menu in some fashion. 4. Baked potatoes were warm at best. 5. Steak that my partner had was warm at best. 6. Dessert- looking forward to an upgraded desert menu. Having only two options it's not very exciting. And this time around the peanut butter cake was not good. I do enjoy the atmosphere and people are always friendly. It's a tough gig having a new restaurant. I look forward to what's coming next on the menu. read more

The service was good. The menu looked interesting. The space is tight in the front section where we were seated. Noise level made it difficult to have a conversation. Our dinners did not meet expectations. The stuffed salmon was acceptable but for the price expected fresh lump crab, this seemed canned. One piece of the Publano chicken was raw in the middle. This was not noticed at dinner; this was a take home portion of the dinner attempted to be eaten the next day. The cat enjoyed it. Although the description of the dish sounded tempting, the reality was that it was a somewhat grilled chicken breast with a spoonful of canned sauce and some melted cheese on top. $28.00. The side dish of steamed squash & zucchini contained exactly 2 pieces of zucchini in one of the servings and none in the other. The server did offer to replace the dish but we did not want to wait our main course for a new side. The squash was barely cooked, and not evenly. Some pieces were sort of ok, others were raw. A message was sent to the restaurant the next day (9/13) regarding the raw chicken. There has been no response as yet. We wanted to like this spot but for the prices charged it did not meet expectations and the lack of response regarding raw chicken is most disappointing. read more
