I love Taiyaki! I usually go to the SomiSomi in Curtis Park, but I was headed down the freeway, so I decided to try this location. Love it! It's more bright & spacious with big windows and seating. It was busy, but I didn't have to wait long for my yummy treats! It's fun how they offer to put a yummy goodie on top! I chose a mini macaron.
Always one of my favorite places to go. Comes with a fish filled with your choice of filling and a ton of ice cream! They usually have a mix or a swirl flavor that combines two. I love it here! Only downside is they don't have tables to sit at, it's mostly standing room but regardless it's so good every time I come here! Would recommend.
Good place to take your kiddos. When we got there around 2pm, it was pretty quiet so ordering was easy and quick. The service was good and fast while the ice cream was creamy delicious. The ice cream isn't too sweet and is soft serve consistency which I love. Best part is toppings are no extra charge! We didn't get the fish cone, but it was fine as the sweet dessert hit the spot for my little son. The strawberry milk tea was good as well. It's basically just strawberry in milk with a little bit of sweetness. Overall, it was a good experience.
I tried this location of Somisomi, and I appreciate how spacious it was, with standing tables to fit in as many customers as possible. This time around, I went with their matcha and ube soft serve swirls, which is one of my favorite pairings. The matcha had a nice earthy dept while the ube was smooth and lightly sweet. The toppings that I got made it crispy and crunchy, including the Fruity Pebbles, chocolate topping/dust, and rainbow sprinkles. My friend ordered their matcha soft serve with matcha topping/dust, and she enjoyed the focus on the rich, slightly bitter matcha flavor. She also enjoyed some taiyaki, which is always made fresh and went well with a custard filling on the inside. Somisomi has expanded to many locations for good reason, as it consistently provides great soft serve and taiyaki!
I've been coming here regularly with my kids, and they almost always stick to their favorite classic flavors: Cookies & Cream or Ube. I like that they offer rotations on their weekly swirls menu and seasonal flavors throughout the year. At this point, we're fans, but I do try to avoid coming during peak times especially in the summer or on weekends because it can get really busy. Parking can also be tight during those hours. Overall, it's a great spot for soft-serve ice cream, and I've really come to enjoy the taiyaki since my first review.
Their flavors are normally are pretty muted, but the seasonal banana pudding was yummy! The matcha swirl blended well with it. Their seasonal hotteok was good (has Peanuts in it) although a little sweet. I thought it was a cute touch how the staff put yellow and green spoons on our banana matcha swirl!
Came up to Elk Grove for a tennis tournament and my Bay Area butt had no idea Elk Grove had Asian food like Somisomi! I'd heard of Somisomi which started in LA's Koreatown and had worked it's way up. It was pretty buzzy and cool, and though they'd opened a few Bay Area locations, I'd never been. On an over 100 degree day in Elk Grove, I knew we had to come here. I got the Upside down ahboong with cookies and cream and Ube and my partner tried the Upside down ahboong cookies and cream. Portions were large but it was too much for us and I thought prices were high for what we got. It was busy on that hot day so there was a line when we left, but when we got there there was no line and service wasn't busy or friendly--could've been better. There's no chairs inside but tables you can stand at.
Any dessert spot that has dairy free options would be 100/10 to me. I came in at first thinking I could only get taiyaki's and was excited to learn I could actually get their ube soft serve haha. Very refreshing, not too sweet flavor. The staff is extremely friendly & quick with the soft serve. The taiyaki took a lil while because they make them as we order - super fresh & delicious!

Somi somi for Mother's Day treat was delicious! It wasn't busy at all.. the establishment was clean and esthetic.. very pretty. I ordered the milk flavored ice cream with Dubai filling inside the tail with a strawberry top.. my son ordered a plain milk with no filling and a macaron on top.. we also ordered some taiyaki to go. My ice cream was delicious with the Dubai chocolate inside the tail giving it some texture and sweetness.. their ice cream is not at all overly sweet .. which is a plus for me. The taiyaki was great! I had the black sesame filled .. crispy chewy mochi like outer layer and filled with delicious black sesame. We also ordered the strawberry green matcha drink. My son had it and said it was matcha-y and not too sweet. read more

If you are into Somi Somi ice cream than this is the spot to come. Great place to try out the tayaki. During grand opening, they are crazy long lines. Service- good. Ambiance- no chairs. They have table to stand and eat ice cream. read more

Ugh. Hate giving a poor review cause I love the takiyaki here but every single time I come service is rude. I thought maybe they're just having an off day. But it's been several different staff now. They don't care about customer service here . Can't recommend this place read more

My partner and I love coming here after spending a day in Sacramento. Stopped by for their new weekly swirl! This week's swirl is Ube & Peach. It was so delicious & such a great summertime flavor. I got a Ube & Peach Swirl Soft Serve in a Cup and 2 Oreo & Custard Taiyakis. The soft serve came out almost immediately after placing my order in the front. Less than 5 minutes later, the taiyakis were fresh off the grill & ready to eat. I love how they have a water dispenser too. Inside was packed but very clean. It was pretty busy for a weekday night, but that's how you know it's delicious! 4 Stars because there's no area to sit & enjoy your dessert. You'll have to snag a spot & stand at a table if you want to eat inside! read more
I'm not really into this kind of dessert but I decided to try it and surprisingly, it was good. The place is spacious and clean. There aren't any seats but they do have standing tables you can use. The service was good too. Overall, a nice little stop for something sweet. read more

Soft Serve Done Right--Every Time You really can't go wrong with this place! Easily one of the better locations in Sacramento. It's always clean, organized, and the staff are genuinely friendly and efficient. They rotate their flavors often, which keeps things interesting without overcomplicating the menu. I'm not sure if it's seasonal or just part of their regular updates, but I appreciate the variety. The soft serve is consistently smooth and balanced in texture-never icy or overly sweet. I usually share mine with a friend, though it's definitely the kind of treat you can enjoy on your own. Everything is customizable, whether you want the taiyaki pastry with cream filling by itself, as an ice cream cone, or in a cup. There's a good range of toppings, and each order comes with either a fresh strawberry or a small macaron-a nice finishing touch. It's a great spot for families, kids, or even a casual date-relaxed, friendly, and easy to enjoy no matter who you're with. Service is steady and reliable, and I've never had to wait long. Somisomi is one of my top dessert places during the warmer seasons. I go here all the time for their soft serve and taiyaki. Whenever I visit I always get an order of 5 taiyaki to share with my family, and usually ice cream in a cup with some toppings such as a small macaron, slice of strawberry, fruity pebbles, and Oreo crumbs. This is a busy location and a long line can form quickly after dinner time, but it moves pretty fast. The staff is quick and keeps the store clean. It can get quite packed inside because it's a small space. Unfortunately, there is no seating available, but there are standing tables inside and a few spots to sit at near the front of the store. I like how they have a water station and plenty of napkins available! I'm not sure when they added black sesame to their menu for taiyaki options, but I was excited when I saw it and had to try it out! The taiyaki always comes out fresh and made to order. It is crispy on the outside, and piping hot and gooey on the inside. Some of my favorite soft serve flavors are matcha, milk, and ube. They rotate the swirl flavors weekly and it varies by location, but luckily we are able to check out their current flavors on their social media or website! read more
Somisomi is one of my favorite spots to go and get a sweet treat. The workers are always nice and there are always tons of people there when I go. They offer the ice cream, ice cream with a taiyaki, or just the taiyaki by itself. On my most recent visit I got taiyaki with nutella filling and ube ice cream with oreo crumbles and a strawberry top. If you like sweet desserts this is a good combo to start out with. They have a small selection of drinks. They also have options to fill your taiyaki with custard, red bean, black sesame, or matcha custard. And various ice cream flavors like cookies & cream, matcha, milk tea, etc.. After they make your order they allow you to choose a topping with options like cookie crumbles, coconut flakes, captain crunch, biscoff crumble, etc. They do not have seating, but do offer standing table tops. The inside is very vibrant and open to account for bigger groups of people. Overall, I recommend giving this place a try for a sweet treat when you are in the EG area. read more
Somisomi, I always look for you everywhere I go! This is one of my favorite places to get soft serve. My favorite flavor is ube and it's consistent in every state we go too - I love that we get extra sprinkles at the end, my daughter loves that and the cute macaroon. The taiyaki was wonderful, we ordered 5 different flavors and it came out hot and fresh - I like to order this separately so it doesn't get soggy with my soft serve. Finally tried SomiSomi for the first time and was not disappointed. There is usually a long line with how popular this place is, but today we walked in at the right time. The line formed right behind us. Loved the Black sesame, brings back flavors of childhood. The taiyaki was fresh, hot, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. It was glorious! Place is cute, staff was nice and helpful. Definitely coming back to try the other flavors. read more

SomiSomi is our go-to for dessert. We love their soft serve and taiyaki. I love that they have so many toppings! And the staff are always so nice and helpful. Keep in mind that there are no seats! Just tables that you can stand around. But overall, love the environment. read more

I've always had a weakness for soft-serve ice cream, and this place truly delivers the best. From the first visit, I was hooked, and no matter the weather, I find myself coming back again and again. I've tried so many flavors, and every single one has been consistently delicious. Even my picky daughter, who rarely enjoys sweets, absolutely loves their soft-serve and the filled Taiyaki--it's become a favorite treat for both of us. I like the variety of toppings they offer to customize your soft serve. The convenience of a water station is also a plus. This is not a sit-down ice cream parlor--it's more of a quick, grab-and-go kind of place. That said, the bright and colorful decor creates such a cheerful and welcoming vibe. I love to get Somisomi as a sweet treat after a meal. The taiyaki is so made on the spot, so it's super crunchy and hot. I prefer to get Nutella as my filling and it's just perfect to eat alongside the soft serve. I like how the flavors routinely change, I get to choose something different every time. The cup of ice cream is honestly a lot for me, I prefer to share it. The place is lovely and can get very busy sometimes. The workers are nice and welcoming. Love this place! Service is quick and straight forward. You can get a simple soft serve or you can jazz it up with a flavor filled taiyaki. They usually have about 3-4 flavors and sometimes seasonally they have a special flavor. Like one time they had sweet corn and it was amazing! Definitely worth trying out. FYI there's no where to sit down and you have to stand while enjoying your treat. read more

SOMISOMI is one of my favourite places for soft serve. Not only do they have great soft serve, but delicious taiyaki as well. My hubs usually get the matcha soft serve and as for me, I like to try any seasonal flavours so I had went with the sweet corn. Really wished that the corn flavour was stronger though. Highly recommend getting it in a cup versus ah boong where the soft serve is directly inside of the taiyaki to avoid having it melt dripping all over your hands. For taiyaki filling, I enjoyed the red bean, custard, and matcha custard. I have yet to try the black sesame which I'm sure is also good. One choice of topping is included, along with either a strawberry or macaron to pair it with. read more
First time trying this after going to costco. This is my partner's new favorite desert place. Love the ube flavor the most. The cookies and cream and dulce de leche is not close to what it should taste like. So far only ube is taste like ube. Fast service and you could always out toppings inside the fish cone but our favorite is nutella chocolate. Too many servings so we ended up sharing on our 2nd try eating in here. So far so good. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Seating: 0/5 Parking: 4/5 I've been here a couple times and it's pretty consistent as a good dessert place if you're looking for soft-serve ice cream with a twist. Located inside a shopping plaza, although there is a large, free, public parking lot expect it to be busy and hard to find close-by parking. There is no seating included. You can stand inside at these skinny wooden counters, there's a courtyard to stand outside, or if you're lucky there's one bench to sit down outside. The service is quick, you order at the cashier in the front then make your way down the line where they ask if you want any toppings including a macaron or strawberry on top. They do offer free, self-service water + cups. The food itself is delicious. They have seasonal flavors for the soft-serve ice cream, I tried the sweet corn which tasted as expected. For the Taiyaki (the golden fish cake), it's like biting into a sweet waffle with a crispy outside and you can choose to fill it with custard on the inside. I chose the matcha custard and it was delicious! Overall, fast service and a delicious treat! Definitely will be returning. Just keep in mind you're eating in your car or standing around. read more
Cute, modern, and clean store! No seating available. Order and watch them make your sweet treat! Soft serves are quickly made and come with your choice of toppings! You can pick from cereal, sprinkles, cracker crumbs, as well as a strawberry or macaron. The Taiyaki fishes take a bit longer because they are made to order! It is a Japanese dessert that is crunchy on the outside layer, a mochi texture inside, along with a filling of your choice (Cheese, Red Bean, Custard, Matcha, Cookies and Cream, etc). The soft serves are really sweet! And there's a Flavor of the Week, which is a special swirl they offer that week. And other basic flavors that are consistently on the menu. The Taiyaki Fish are soo yummy! The fish itself is bland which allows you to create the kind of treat you want. My favorites are the cheese (savory) and the custard (sweet)! These are best eaten hot! While the crispy layer crunches and the filling oozes out with every bite! Worth the try, especially because it's so cute and aesthetically pleasing. read more

We came here after we had lunch in Olive Garden. It's not too far from each other. My hubby ordered one Ube and cookies and cream soft-serve ice cream. We like the ice cream texture--not too soft. The teriyaki is crispy, but it's a little cool because they made it in advance and let it cool down. They prepared the order fast because they had enough staff. We've had their teriyaki in various flavors before and are pretty satisfied. Although the plaza here is getting busy, it's still not a challenge to find parking. read more

Is the facility peanut-free for those with peanut allergies?
They have signs up warning about possible cross contamination from nuts, so I would be wary.
What are your gluten free options? The website says to check the nutritional info section but that page is glitching.
The soft serve is gluten free, however the waffles are not.
Is anything vegan?
Check out https://www.somisomi.com/nutrition It appears that nearly every item contains dairy although most don't contain lactose. The taiyaki and ahboong contain egg.
What are your non-dairy or lactose free options?
According to a sign by the register, all of their soft serve ice cream flavors, except for Milk, are lactose free.
