Hidden dumpling house has been highly talked about, and with their second location opening in midtown, Its been a popular spot for dumplings and Chinese dishes. We came for lunch and immediately noticed how packed it was. Once we were seated, patrons started to leave and we were able to order a sesame chicken lunch plate to share and cilantro chicken dumplings. Our food took quite a while to come out and it wasn't very warm. The sesame chicken was too sweet, rice was mushy, and noodles had no flavor. The dumplings were extremely dry and lacking cilantro. It did have carrots, though! So, if thats your thing you should try it. Overall, I am glad to have finally tried them out, but they're truly nothing to write home about.

Very cozy in the busy mini outlets right out of Elk Grove blvd exit. You wouldn't expect to see it until you accidentally come across it, I guess that just goes to show the meaning behind the name of the restaurant haha! This small and quaint place has history with the staff. They seem to be a family owned as they have a lot of charisma with each other. Let alone the entertainment you get while you're eating inside. The open kitchen brings a liveliness and wholesome feeling when you're there. You get to really see the preparation of your food. My food was decently. A bit oily on the deep fried shrimp, but the shrimp was HUGE! Very meaty! The siu mai was the star of the show for me as it was full of flavor and steamed to perfection. The wrap was chewy and cooked all the way through. If I could, I would've just ordered 3 more of that!

We came here Wednesday evening and they were not busy. We got in and were immediately greeted and seated. It is a pretty small restaurant with few tables. They have couple tables outside as well. We decided on xiao long bao, beef & onion dumplings and pineapple seafood fried rice. The dumplings and fried rice came out promptly but xiao long bao took longer to come out. Beef dumplings were juicy but i felt the skin was a bit too thick. Fried rice was interesting and flavorful. Xiao long bao was good and solid. We ordered another set of xiao long bao as my boyfriend's mom really loved it. Portion overall was decent. Server was nice and friendly. Even though they were not busy with dine in customers, they had a lot of to-go orders.

Tried this place out with my gf and it was pretty good! The dining area is small and limited, so you may not be able to get a seat if the place was busy. Ive been here twice and havent had to wait for a table. Ive sat at the big table and small table and you most likely struggle with space if you order more than 3 plates. Everything was tasty and the deluxe fried rice was especially delicious! We also got the siu mai and xiaolong bao. Siu mai was tasty but nothing special. Just exactly as I expected. Then of course, the xiaolong bao. It tasted good, but we've definitely had better. The xiaolong bao here doesn't contain as much broth as other places we have been to. It was still tasty and contained a decent amount of broth, but the skin was pretty thin and would sometimes break while we tried to pick up the xiaolong bao. The xiaolong bao also comes with its own dipping, but we don't prefer it because it is sort of sour. We prefer soy sauce and chili oil instead. Overall, it is a good small spot and we would come back for the deluxe fried rice! Will need to try the rest of the menu!

I will say I never expected mapo tofu to taste like this, to taste this good and go unknown to me is sad and shameful judging of what I thought would be. I loved the flavor on it, but I will say if it is advertised as spicy I dont want mild I want a bit of a kick to it, maybe they tone it down cause they see my pale complexion and guess that I find bell peppers spicy you never know. Service was ok, and it was a chill spot in general. Twas a date with the Misses.

Hidden Dumpling is a Chinese restaurant in Elk Grove. Two weeks ago, my parents, my grandmother, and I went there for lunch. The black pepper beef dish is mixed with veggies and the xiao long bao is the same in Tasty Dumpling. Also, the Singapore Style Noodle is the same as Nathan's.

Cute little spot for great food. It was packed but diligent staff made sure everything was running smoothly. Food portions are generous. Definitely coming back for more.

I was in the area running errands and decided to stop by because I hadn't had lunch and it was already after 3pm on a weekday. I walked in and the team immediately greeted me and asked if I was dining in or picking up. I opted to order takeout since I still had some meetings and had to get home. I ordered potstickers (8 for $9.99), XLB (8 for $14.99), General Tso's chicken ($14.59), and pork chow fun ($12.99 + $4 for pork). I paid $73.81 total after tax and tip. I hung out to wait for the food and it didn't take too long for it to be ready. They packed everything with care and I drove home to enjoy everything. I was so hungry that I ate the potstickers on the way home and they were crunchy, but definitely wanted sauce. I should have waited until I got home but I still enjoyed them fresh and hot. The XLB was delicious and still juicy after my drive home, these we enjoyed with the sauce and it's always a great flavor combination. The General Tso's I ordered was a large portion of just the entree (no rice) but had a great flavor and was really saucy. I ended up mixing the chicken with some of the chow fun noodles and that was a great combination. The chow fun was delicious, but I think I would go without the added pork next time, especially since I mixed some of the chicken with it. All this food was easily enough for two people to have multiple meals. The restaurant itself was cute and had coloring pages from customers on the walls. The parking lot was busy but big enough to find a spot relatively easily and even though it was a weird hour they had a steady stream of pick up orders.

This place is great to dine with friends and family as they have really generous serving platters to share. The honey walnut shrimp and sautéed green beans were amazing!!

Their uncomplicated menu lets them focus on making the best pho I've ever had. While their menu is simple, their soups are not. You first taste the richness of the broth that has been simmering for hours. The beef bones, meat, garlic and ginger work together to produce a soup base that will compliment the accompanying ingredients. I opt for their signature pho, the Pho Hanoi, which comes with wok fried ribeye and garlic. You can choose either thin noodle or fresh noodles. We always go with the fresh noodles. Their servings are huge and easily sharable. The soup comes with garnishes such as basil, cilantro, mint, bean sprouts, onions, jalapenos and lime. Some folks like to add hoisin or siracha. I'm a simple gal and only add a few bean sprouts. If the broth is good, it doesn't need anything else. Service is straightforward. You order at the counter, sit down and your order arrives in under 5 minutes. The staff is accustomed to fast pace. There's a self serve water and tea station so you don't have to wait to get refills. While it may seem like there's few interactions with staff, the set up is streamlined for efficiency. They are always so very busy, so don't expect customer service there, just great food. Licious has the exact opposite, great service and okay food. We ordered the following: Szechuan green beans- cooked perfectly with a crunch still. Lacked flavor- not spicy. Fish and tofu clay pot- the fish tasted sweet, oddly. The fried tofu was perfect. Juicy and soft, Beef short ribs skillet- very fatty. You are paying for fat. Maybe it was a bad day. Tiger prawns with pumpkin- it is battered with salted egg, but it's not that salty. I wish it was saltier because I love salted egg. Battered and fried perfectly!!! The Tiger prawns are HUGE!!!!!! I've never eaten such big prawns in my life. The pumpkin was so soft and sweet with the perfect crunch from the salted egg batter. IT JUST NEEDED MORE SALT. Lots of pumpkin! Lobster- lacked flavor and was a very small lobster with not a lot of meat. Salt and pepper fried tofu for appetizer- yummy yummy. Perfect. Whole roasted duck- flavor was perfect, but the skin texture was stale. It wasn't like how it tastes at Tealicious. I don't know why the skin wasn't crunchy. Shrimp and egg chow fun- lacked flavor and too wet. Service was amazing for our two tables total of 18. They kept checking on us and even packed all of our food. There were two servers and only 3 other small tables with ours. The restaurant is quite small and is only for up to I believe 35 people on Theo occupant load signage. There is plenty of space to dine-in as well. Their menu is huge - almost overwhelming - but they have a little bit of everything. I stopped in specifically for BBQ Pork steamed rice rolls, which can be tough to find at most places outside of a dim sum menu. The price was reasonable (I think $6.75) and it was a great portion. Very flavorful, tender, and a delicious sauce! We also got an order of steamed BBQ pork buns (3 total). Surprisingly, I don't think it was the same meat from the rice rolls but that's OK because it was almost shredded consistency with a good flavor. The bun is a bao-style bun, so less fluffy than my preferred steam bun type but perfectly steamed nonetheless. We ended with an order of sesame balls (3 piece). I was surprised at how much oil was in the to-go container, and a little disappointed that there wasn't more of the sesame coating, but they were so FRESH! I assumed the inside would be red bean but instead it was jelly cubes that reminded me of square boba jellies. Possibly pineapple flavored? It was not my thing but also my fault for not confirming it what was inside. Will definitely be coming back for rice rolls!

The menu had a bit too much going on and in my opinion -- restaurants should have a speciality rather than offer so many items because taste and quality loses itself somewhere in the middle of 100 different menu options. I know my partner and I are pho snobs but what we had wasn't even pho. The broth was basically hot water with a tad of salt or chicken bouillon. There were no hints of star anise, cinnamon (often referred to as Saigon cinnamon), cloves, black cardamom, coriander seeds, and fennel seeds -- nada. And the noodles were way too overcooked making my dish so difficult to eat. I ordered pho and it looked like pho -- but it tasted nothing close to it. I need to share that as a reality to the owner and staff so they can make changes to the quality of their food -- otherwise, I don't know if this place will survive the competition. Also, I observed a staff member behind the counter blending a smoothie of some sort, tasting it with a spoon, and then putting back said spoon into the smoothie to stir before pouring it into a cup (and I saw the cup delivered to a party a few tables down from us). That probably isn't very hygienic and it's sad to see that's how things are handled behind the scenes here. I just happened to look over from our table and was pretty disgusted. Moving on, I hope these guys shape up because the quality and taste of food was actually bad. And, I can rarely say that about restaurants I patronize because I love supporting local small businesses. Best of luck to these guys.
