The animal house pizza, and the gluten-free wannabe
    Lindsey K.

Such a cute little spot. Creative pizzas, high-quality ingredients, and the best gluten-free crust I've had around here.

The best pizza in the county. Really how pizza should be made. Hmmmmm! I've said it all, no need to add anything.

First flag, Saturday afternoon lunch (a little of a late lunch) but no one in the place. Waitress was nice, and the menu had all day breakfast along with lunch and dinner offerings. The specials on the wall added a number of choices too. We ordered a bowl of Chicken noodle soup to share, I had the Country Fried Steak (special on the board) and my wife had a cheeseburger and onion rings. First the good, the onions rings were great and the soup was better than average. Burger was okay, with a very good bun. What was disappointing? We ordered and our waitress disappeared until the food was done. We wanted our soup first (which is the way it should be served) but we couldn't find anyone to ask for it. Of course our food came out, and then we got the soup! My meal sucked! Everything was greasy....the hash browns, the eggs and the steak. I tried, but I couldn't eat it. Even the eggs that were supposed to be "over easy" were hard. The hash browns were a gray color and for some reason buried underneath the gravy covered County Fried Steak. Only thing good about my meal was the sourdough toast! Adding to the bad meal, which was actually funny, was that the wet naps they handed out with the meal were dry as a bone! How old do wet nap packages have to be to be dried out?! Prices were reasonable, but because I left most of my meal on my plate it wasn't too great of a value. Not a place I'd go back to.

If you're at the lake and looking for food, congratulations, you've found the spot where the line…read morebetween fine dining and a yard sale is blurry, delicious, and possibly covered in mosquito netting. Forget your fancy-pants trucks--this is a genuine, bayou-themed, run-down camper with a deck built out of what looks like salvaged pier wood. It's got charm in the way a hound dog has fleas: you know they're there, but you love the dog anyway. The Chef's Personality: The chef is famously surly in a delightful way. Think of him as the culinary equivalent of a grumpy lighthouse keeper. He'll take your order, maybe judge your life choices, and then hand you something that will make you forget your own name. I heard a rumor that he's a former Merchant Marine--and honestly, that explains everything. How else do you get a guy who can whip up authentic Italian, killer Mexican, and... well, whatever else is on the menu that night? He's navigated the seven seas, now he's navigating my arteries. The Grub That's Worth the Grump: Carbonara (The Anchor Drop): I don't know what kind of secret nautical magic he's using, but the Carbonara here is the real deal. It's so rich, you'll need a dry dock after eating it. Fantastic doesn't cover it; it's the treasure chest at the end of the map. It's on the secret menu, so you'll have to ask for it by name. Taco Night: If you can even get in on taco night, the guacamole is golden. Fresh, chunky, and probably what they feed the lake gators. Margaritas (The Pool): These aren't just drinks; they are a Pool of Margarita. Seriously, they're big. Do yourself a favor and order two. You won't want to remember what you did after sharing with your 50 closest acquaintances. Hours of Operation (LOL): They've got hours posted, but I'm calling BS. This place operates on a mysterious 24-hour cycle of chaos and kindness. It's only open when the Cap'n feels like it, which is exactly why they should just admit they're open 24/7. P.S. They feed all the volunteers at the event for free each night. That's why he gets 5 stars, even if he yells at me. Go. Eat. Try not to offend the chef. Tell him the sea misses him.

The slushes were the slushiest, their square pizza threw me back to a time many years ago, and their homemade salsas and sauces were the best. They also made me a fantastic negroni, which was ruined only minutes later when I was waiting in line for the showers. Thanks Dan and crew, yall the absolute best. It's too bad I can't eat still bayou more times a year.

We were a first timers at Wallers, and decided to take a chance on this place on a Friday night…read more Even though I read others reviews, I wasn't quite sure what to expect....and after arriving a tad after 6, parking was very hard to come by.... This is usually a good sign in my book. After being pleasantly greeted after walking in, I saw a lot of the wait staff and the bartenders like busy bees.... All of them seemed to be in a happy mood. We were ushered to our table in the large dining area. Pictures posted by others were accurate. Several larger groups of 8+ were around and the room was a buzz of chatter.... Not too loud, just right. Our server Nicole gave us some time to read thru the menus and we ordered after a bit. Since it was Friday night, we chose the fish fry, my wife the beer battered cod, myself the peach. While we waiting we enjoyed view out the large glass windows that overlooked the lake and saw the pontoon boat launch and return with guests, the free ride around the lake with Captain Max (who by the way had some great stories to share on our trip, a couple seemed pretty fishy). Our dinner arrived what seemed like eternity, however being patient was rewarding.... Both selections of fish were awesome... some of the best beer battered cod and perch we've had across a dozen counties. Guys, it's worth it. All around the staff was great, the view during diner was excellent, and the boat ride was like icing on the famous carrot cake they serve.... My only downgrade on the experience was the very long wait for dinner. It turned out to be well worth it, however for fried fish, well beyond my expectations on time. Now.... It's your turn to make a reservation....

Our server was Brie, a beautiful young woman with a lightning bolt for energy. She was everywhere like a flash. Need something-- flash she was there to take care of it. She was friendly, helpful, energetic - a perfect employee. The food was great. I personally had a steak 6 oz filet mignon. Wonderful and done perfectly! The other 17 people had varying choices off the menu but everyone loved their meal. After dinner many had ice cream drinks. I personally had this absolutely incredible chocolate cake that was made in house by the owner and i savored every bite. I have to say that they had some great appetizers on the menu including deviled eggs. An appetizer i don't see often but really enjoy. Personally im already looking forward to going back! I rated 5 stars but i would give them more if yelp would let me! I wish i had remembered to take pictures of the food or the view of the lake. I guess i was distracted by the 17 other family i was with. Next time i go i promise pictures!
