Food is good. Ambiance is ok. Service is good. Be aware of their billing practices. They charge an 18% gratuity on parties of more than 5 that is written in small print at the bottom of the menu that was covered up by dried food. When you go to pay they tell you how much you owe. They don't give you a receipt, all they have is their order book that you can take a picture of and then figure out how much each person owes. We had 6 people and the bill was $91.00. We left a $25.00 tip. After we left we got figured the bill and realized we left about a $40.00 tip. read more

Was able to revisit a year later. I was mistaken when I thought Tammy was the owner. She's the sister of the amazing owner. We are in town for 4 days and the highlight of our trip was coming to this quaint, adorable cafe. Tammy remembered us and welcomed us with a friendly smile, a warm hug and delightful service. We've only tried breakfast and it's some of the best around. The kids all loved their food which ranged from pancakes, biscuits and gravy, breakfast sandwiches and breakfast burritos. What I LOVE THE most is the community table. Locals from this small town come in and share a table together. They come in at different times, but are always greeted with a hug and asked if they want their usual. Mary Beth the owner has such a wonderful community within her diner. I will be looking forward to our yearly trip out to visit! read more

Wow, what a hidden gem. If you are in the northern Mississippi area and looking for some good down home comfort food, be sure to stop in. I got the fried pickles, and shrimp and grits. They were both served fresh and hot, and had great flavor. The service was fast and prices were reasonable. The inside decorated with some local art work, and the seating area was clean and comfortable. Will be back if I'm ever back in town. read more

Went twice. Always give a 2nd chance. Service was pretty good firat time. 2nd time I ordered shrimp and grits. I honestly think that was the worst thing inhave ever put in my mouth. I spit it out. It tasted like month old grease and had that same grease floating in it. I mentioned it to the staff....not to get credit...just so they knew. They offered me something else but i refused cause i did order it. They do NOT take constructive criticism at alllll. Were quite rude to us after my revalation to then. I have to admit that I am attracted to divey looking (to a point) places off the beaten track. Pope Country Cafe hits those 2 points for sure. It's kinda cute inside and the menu is large, with practically every fried item there is. We first tried the fried pickle chips with seemingly house made ranch dressing. The coating on the pickles was just slightly brown and they sat in a pool of grease. This is a tell tale sign of fryer grease that is old and needs to be changed. I ordered a grilled catfish po'boy, hoping to avoid more grease. Unfortunately, the sandwich was served on a grocery store hoagie bun, and the tots suffered from above mentioned grease issue. Another disappointing choice, as was my husband's catfish plate. The hush puppies were large and inviting looking, but the taste was pure grease. I should add that the service was pretty bad- inefficient and slow, and if I had used the restroom before I ordered, I would have just left. I don't recommend this place at all. 0 stars if I could. read more

Country-style tasty food. Breakfast is my favorite, but also have a great lunch and dinner menu with homemade desserts. Service is friendly. We went to the Pope Country Café one morning for breakfast while camping at one of the campgrounds at Enid Lake. We chose to sit at a booth (we were there with another couple) and were promptly waited on and were brought the beverages we chose (coffee mostly). I ordered Big Daddy's breakfast (3 eggs, scrambled, bacon, sausage, grits, hashbrowns, biscuits and side of red-eye gravy). My wife ordered the oatmeal with a side of scrambled eggs. Our friends both ordered the Western omlette, each with their own customizations. Everyone's food came out hot and was delicious. The staff were all very attentive, friendly and talkative, although not overly so. We sat at our table for well over an hour, visiting with each other. The café was not noisy at all and we enjoyed our time. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at the Café and will likely be back to enjoy lunch or dinner one evening while camping at Enid Lake. Don't forget to get a picture on the HUGE rocking chair in front of the café. read more

Went back 8 months later and got same thing and it was either better than before or just forgot how good the Bacon Cheeseburger (with all the fixins) and Sweet Tater fries are. Service was great, and super fast for a home cooked meal. They serve breakfast all day and maybe one day i will try something new, but was craving this dish for a long time. What an excellent Yelp find! I love when you drive down a highway and pull out the Yelp app and find something you would have never in a million years found otherwise! That's this place! If you like real people and real food this is the place to be. I loved the small town feel and just the overall welcoming aura this place has. I had a great breakfast plate with all of the fixings. My wife was overjoyed to find a place that had tomato gravy. All in all, we were very happy with our meals. I'm really glad we made it in here and I hope I make back here again. If you are driving by and are unsure if you should take the gamble on this place, I say go for it!!! It's totally worth the detour to stop! They even have a giant rocking chair out front! read more

Is service is bad took a long time for us to get our food. When the food did come it was bad my baked tater was on 25% tater the rest barbecue sauce. The thing that was the best was to eat ambiance, there was a bunch of cool decorations and the cups had decoration on them too. read more

I haven't eaten anything that wasn't good at this restaurant! They have great lunch specials that includes a meat, 3 sides and dessert, but they don't last long at all! So get there around 11am if you want a filling home cooked lunch plate! Besides for the lunch specials, My husband and I like the breakfast menu, philly steak sandwiches, cheeseburgers and my favorite is the kickin shrimp appetizer and the fried shrimp platter! The shrimp are battered & fried perfectly and are a nice big size, not skimpy popcorn shrimp! We haven't tried everything on the menu yet. So favorites are being added weekly! lol They usually have a fresh baked cake for dessert! The people.... the staff is fantastic... every person is super nice, attentive and helpful! A little country cafe about a mile off of I-55 in Pope. Cute place. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. I had a grilled cheese/fried green tomato sandwich toasted to perfection. Hubby had the fish sandwich. Both were good with seasoned fries. Since it was Saturday and not opened, we were able to park our camper trailer next door at the propane business. Nice stop on our way back to Memphis. I think they have a buffet during the week. May have to make a day trip just to check it out. read more

This place east of Pope School was always a treat to come across. Over the years it's gotten better, really settling in the country atmosphere. I came here after not wanting to deal with the Batesville rush after some rough yard work. Passing the comically large wooden chair, I went inside to pick up my "Momma's Special". Yep, they serve breakfast all day and vise verse with the dinner items. The Country Cafe have pretty reasonable prices for what you''re getting too, at least with what I been ordering. The hash browns could of been a bit more on the crispy side, but the bacon balanced that out really well. I also noticed they also have specials on dry erase and chalkboard, plan to try those out one day after work. The Cafe also has those little glass buffets to make a to-go plate. It wasn't really open when I saw it, but I guess calling ahead or waiting for them to organize their specials on Yelp could get you ready. All and all I enjoyed my visit and look forward to my next one. read more

It really is a hole in the wall. The floors are concrete, the tables and chairs are old, it's not the neatest place you'll ever be. But the food is fantastic. It may not be right but I kind of judge restaurant by the size of the patrons eating there. And this place has some very large patrons. read more

This is my favorite restrsunt due tp its family atmosphere and has been owned locally for about 15 years. They have had the same cook for years. The food is awesome. Especially the club sandwich's they come with a healthy serving of fries. There customer service is quiet nice too read more
