Did a quick search for lunch options in the area and found this. Was surprised to learn they were featured on Guy Fieri's Triple D show. I'll start by saying get the wings! They smoke them then fry them. Delicious!! Def the highlight for me. I'll preface with my rating is based on the wings so could be a little misleading. We got the build a platter with ribs, pulled pork and brisket with a side of fries, mac and the corn bread. I love ribs but these were a little tough. Brisket & pork were ok. Fries were a little over seasoned/salty for my liking. I was excited for the corn bread but disappointed. Very odd texture and no flavor. Not sweet, not savory, just nothing. The mac also lacked flavor. We didn't try the sandwich featured on the show but think we tried enough to get a good idea. I don't frequent the area but will definitely return for the wings if I'm there this summer. Self service but staff was friendly. BBQ restaurants aren't ones we usually frequent but we were in the mood for wings and fries and mutiny had both. You order in the back, find a place to sit, grab your own plates and utensils and wait. We ordered the wings with buffalo sauce, an order of fries and the smallest order of pickles. This place was great! Staff was super friendly! The outdoor seating was nice and warm despite it being cold outside because the smoker keeps it warm out there. I love their BBQ sauce that they keep on the tables and actually bought some to bring home. We got the brisket, Texas sausage, ribs, and Mac n cheese and everything was delicious. My husband and I aren't really BBQ people (we were actually vegetarian for about 15 years) but this was a nice place to try different things after transitioning back to eating meat products. I was in the area for a concert and I needed to grab a quick bite somewhere nearby so it popped up like 5 minutes from where I was going. So, I really wanted to like this place but just felt very unimpressed. First, it was Saturday on Labor Day weekend and I get there 2 and a half hours before closing and sold out of ribs and brisket. Partially my fault but on a major holiday weekend in a beach town would warrant prepping more of the two most ordered proteins at a bbq place. 2nd, while waiting to order I was listening to the young woman at the counter helping the people ahead of me and being super friendly and helpful, which was great until she got to me and I got slightly icy treatment. I even tried to ask for recommendations from her and she kind of gave it but still was a bit uncomfortable. I decided on ordering turkey breast with a side of cornbread casserole and vinegar slaw. The turkey came with a couple slices of pickles and pickled onions. There was one sauce on the table which can be good/bad. I asked about other sauces and she offered me the Alabama white as well. The turkey was tender but had minimal rub so sauce was needed (for me). The white was ok, the bbq was missing something but I didn't want to bother her with asking for anything else so I made due with what I had. The sides were huge for a half pint which would have been helpful if she mentioned that. I liked the cornbread, very soft and slightly sweet but could have used a touch more sugar. The slaw was crisp and refreshing but again, missing something. I was sitting inside the front of the restaurant so I didn't see the back but if I had more time I would have sit outside there as it was comfortable outside. read more

Everything was delicious! My favorite was the brisket Philly Cheesesteak, and the price of our meal was so low. I've been to this place for smoke meats takeout for several times and tried several items on the menu. This place hasn't disappointed me. The wings, ribs, brisket, pulled pork, turkey, sausages, and chicken are all delicious. I also tried the turkey leg as their special menu item and it was so good. I wish they have that on the regular menu. The turkey leg is flavorful, tender and juicy. The portion was big. The pulled pork is also excellent. I don't get it per the reviews. 1. I ordered a 1/2 lb of the BRISKET POINT which should have been moist. Instead, it was very dry. It was also cut almost a 1/2 inch thick. They missed the cardinal rule and sliced with the grain instead of against it. Results were not only dry but chewy. 2. While the FRENCH FRIES were from fresh cut potatoes, they were way over cooked for my preference. But the crown was the dipping sauce for the fries. 3. POTATO SALAD was not inspiring. 4. PULLED PORK was just ok and also somewhat dry. 5. Dry buns did not help either. What I eventually learned, was that my 1 in the afternoon brisket, was day old and reheated for lunch servings. They start smoking early in the morning and finish late in the afternoon; then soon served for dinner hours. So, I do not recommend lunch at all. read more

The bbq is always set by the brisket. I would give this place a 6.8/10. Nice brisket, good flop, and some of the flavor did make its way down into the meat. I've been in Ocean Grove/Asbury Park the last few days and it being mid-May, getting fed has been a challenge! A lot of places aren't open during their scheduled hours or were closed all together. At a certain point you get a little desperate. I thought I missed this spot when mapping it but it's there, it's just tiny and right off the corner with a tiny sign right before the train tracks. Parking was easy once I doubled back. The brisket was some of the best I've had. The sauce was solid and peppery, not sweet. The sauces that came with the fries was delicious. The pickles, which seemed to be homemade were great. I did get the collards and while meaty and attractive to look at really lacked flavor. A little of the salt and pepper and maybe vinegar? would have gone a long way. That said, if I lived here and not Baltimore, this place would be in my regular rotation. I'd give this place a 3.5 if I could because the service was very nice, helpful, and quick. My husband and I were in the mood for BBQ, and I saw this place got great reviews. We decided to get a hodge-podge of a bunch of different items - a quarter pound each of the ribs, pulled pork, and brisket, and a half dozen buffalo wings. We also got a half pint of the mac and cheese, collard greens, potato salad, and cornbread casserole. They make all their sauces in-house (including the sauces for the wings). I started off with the ribs first which were the peak of my meal, and then the rest of the meal wasn't as good. I didn't really like the brisket and the pulled pork, the collard greens needed more salt/flavor, and I think their bbq sauce also needs more flavor and/or a thicker consistency. I liked that they used large shells for the mac and cheese and it was al dente, but I didn't love the cheese(s) they used, and the corn casserole was also okay (and I love corn). I love barbecue food, and I love the fact that when I get a crave the spot I like to go to is so close I can walk. When I come here, I have staples that are mandatory for my Dan experience such as collard greens, smoked beans, macaroni and cheese, beef brisket. I appreciate the friendliness of Thom staff and the fact that they delight and helping me pair up their tasty sauces with my food choices. Although for some people people may not be a big deal, I particularly am a fan of pickled onions, and I love their coleslaw, add a little tang to some of the richer flavors on my plate.
