Stopped by this location for lunch right after a double at SoulCycle, so I was beyond ready to eat. It's right next to the PetSmart with a private parking lot. I was actually impressed by the vibe inside for such a small space--very clean, well-lit, and had a ton of natural light coming in, which made it feel a lot nicer than your typical fast-food spot. I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich to eat there and an 8-piece Classic Signature Family Meal (comes with a large mashed potatoes, cajun gravy and four biscuits) to take home. The experience was a bit of a mixed bag. I was starving and really looking forward to that sandwich, but after the first bite, I realized the chicken was cold. It didn't taste right at all and honestly felt undercooked, so I ended up tossing it. I was a little worried about the family meal I'd already paid for, so I checked the 8-piece before I headed out. Thankfully, that chicken was actually hot and fresh. My wife and I had the meal later, and it was great--the chicken was solid and you can't go wrong with their mashed potatoes and cajun gravy. Tip: I'd suggest sticking to the fried chicken pieces here. Based on my experience (and what I've read from other yelpers), the sandwiches seem to have some consistency issues with being undercooked. Decided to try Popeyes LK but we'll never come back to this location. We ordered but the order wasn't ready at all. I waited literally almost half hour to get our food meanwhile the place was empty. (See photos). Couldn't believe that a fast food restaurant didn't have food ready to serve. Completely ridiculous. Really, this is a Popeye's, so if you've had Popeye's before, then this place isn't going to change your overall opinion of it. I got the 5-piece tenders meal for $15. A bit on the pricey side for fast food, but whatevs. I had to wait like 7 minutes from when I ordered before I got the food, but I did appreciate that the chicken itself was piping hot when I got them, so that was nice. The biscuit is soft when you get it, so there's that too. The Cajun fries had no kick whatsoever and just tasted like plain fries. They were also considerably more lukewarm when I got them, so I finished those first to keep them from getting cold. The customer service there was average. Neither good nor bad, just eh. Nothing special, so nothing to see there. That one thing that stood out to me in a positive way was the aesthetic of the place. Popeye's style is a Louisiana kitchen, and from the outside in I definitely felt the vibe that felt more like a place to eat in Louisiana. The jars in the middle of the room with different peppers and rice was a nice touch. The ambiance is really the thing that keeps it relevant in this Norwalk location. If you do have takeout from here however, I hope you don't have to travel long. The packaging will wilt from the trapped heat, so I was thankful I had put the box back in the plastic bag when I took the rest off my dinner out to catch the train in South Norwalk. The biscuit that was once soft will get a bit hard very quickly, so there's that to watch out for too. Basically, if you've had Popeye's, then you've already eaten here and aren't missing out. Note: This wasn't even my first choice to eat and only ever come this way for Chik-Fil-A after making a trip to the REI down the road. The chicken was room temperature, the cheese just came out of the refrigerator and the piece of bacon was so small I really had to look for it to find it. Just go to Chick-fil-a. No matter how long the line of cars at Chick-fil-a looks, you will get your food in half the time it takes Popeyes. Without exaggeration, it takes at least 15min to get through the drive-thru at Popeyes natter how few cars are there. I must be insane for expecting a different result whenever I go. And it's hard to remember my order since it was for 5 people . No receipts given to help out. Terrible food quality and service. The chicken pieces are so small compared to ALL other Popeyes (I travel a bit). The sides are filled to 2/3 of the container except for the Mac and cheese. (See photo). Today, my last visit, I had to wait 25 minutes for my order - some people that had ordered after us had gotten their food as did the drive-thru line. Then it takes a turn for the worse.... they gave us only 5 pieces of chicken when I ordered an 11 piece family meal and 4 pieces of tenders when I ordered an 8 piece tender meal. Not only that, but after I told them of the error - they tried to fix it by giving me 4 boxes of the chicken and stuffed more tenders in the box. I was so frustrated and left - when I got home I discovered I only had 10 instead of 11 chicken pieces! To make matters worse the chicken was cold, the Mac and cheese was watery and the biscuits were hard. When I asked for a refund after 20 minutes - stating this is supposed to be "fast food"! They kept me busy arguing for another 5 minutes so that they could get my order together and tell me it was ready. I didn't get my refund, I got cold, hard food. By the time I got my food - I had waited 31 minutes. Oh - they tried to compensate by giving me an extra side of Mac and cheese I wasn't the only on in-line suffering the terrible customer service/food quality. I don't know about the other customers but I don't have to eat at this place ever again because Chik-fila And KFC is right around the corner. Absolutely worst Popeyes franchise location. I arrive and the place was packed, great sign right. Yea you would think so. I walk up and wait for my order, number 70 is called out. I'm number 72, sweet! Mine will be ready soon. Im waiting and the order line starts backing up because the one guy taking orders, was gone and there was one girl building the meals. Yikes this may take longer than I thought. Ok though. It happens it dinner time so. Then order number 73 is called. Wait what! Where is my order. I go to the counter but some dude comes in and cuts in front of me. What! The he starts yelling to get his friends attention from the kitchen. The guy comes up from the back and their talking. So nobody is making the counter and these two are chatting. He employee then turns around and starts packing some chicken, some biscuits and sides. They talk some more, he hands the food over to the guy who cut in front of me. Did he just come in and get free food! Btw I am still sitting here waiting for my order. I look behind the counter and the two guys talking to see an order just sitting there not complete. At this point 20 minutes have passed. The guy running the counter and manages 3 more orders. I over hear him telling the next customer, yea our sandwiches are ok, Chick-fil-A and we dies are much better. Hat! The guy running the register finished up with two more people at the register and turns to me and asks what I wanted. I told him I've been waiting for my order, order number 72. He looks at me turns to the girl who was packing it and tells me that they ran out of spicy chicken. They have none, not that is still cooking but they have nothing. And she just let the order sit there for 20 minutes instead of saying hey your order is not ready because we don't have this chicken, can we substitute. But no all I get was excuses, the guy at the register looks at me and like a deer in then headlights and says well it's an online order. We never know when they come in... THERE IS A NUMBER ATTACHED TO THE ORDER. You completely skipped over my order. You know how to know when it comes in, you complete it before you start the next order. I get home and not only did they have to give me plain not spicy chicken but the chicken they gave me had no flavor, just pure oil. At least KFC has 7 herbs and spices. No flavor. And the sides were all wrong. Whoever is the manager is of this location needs to get their shit in gear. You have employees giving away full meals, and others who are so poorly trained that they don't know to build orders in sequence, and how to manage an issue when it arrives. I don't think this is an employee issue. I think it is a management issue. This is a VERY busy location and only have one front end person and one drive thru person. Wow! What a HUGE improvement. Today I decided to go to Popeyes and see if it has improved from previous visit that were completely horrible experience. But today, I am in complete shocked. A whole new staff and the manager she is completely amazing. I kept hearing her encouraging her staff. Telling them how good they're working. How she was there helping. And let me talking about the food. I have never EVER got hot FRESH chicken from there. And the fried and biscuits so fresh and so soft and hot. I was so incredibly impressed I just had to tell the manager myself. And she only been there 2 weeks. And what I loved the most was that she took the compliment but she made sure to let me know that it wasn't just her but her whole staff as well. That was so amazing. I also ordered an 8 piece tenders meal which cost $19.99 we got a tiny little box of what I would call nuggets. Last two times I visited this location I ordered through the drive thru. I ordered the 3 piece tender combo with mashed potatoes as my side which both times they tried to upsell hard on the 5 piece combo. I refused but added a small side of Mac and cheese. The service was quick but when I got home I realized they gave me the largest size of mashed potatoes. I thought it was a mistake until I looked at my receipt and I was charged for the large size. Popeyes is one of the few fast food places I actually enjoy. They put out a consistently decent product, and they haven't really messed it up since they've expanded throughout the US and Canada. There was a cashier named Amoura or Amoury who had a very nasty attitud reluctantly took my families order then took forever to bring out the food and when it was brought out it was COLD! I asked to speak to management and she said was the manager which speaks a lot on the establishment itself because she was not in uniform and did not present herself in a way a manager would.
