They were in a heavy book (reminded me of a high school yearbook) with six pages of choices plus an insert of daily specials. Post Road is the kind of diner that diner lovers dream of. Their menu is an embarrassment of riches and would seamlessly fit in alongside anything you would find on the Sunrise Highway on Long Island or on Route 17 in New Jersey. Three of us walked in around 11:30am today, and our first order of business was deciding if we'd go for lunch or breakfast food. We all went for breakfast plates- pancakes ($9.99) with a side of scrambled eggs ($2.99), GF Pancakes ($12.98), and for me a "Protein Breakfast" ($13.99) and a coffee ($3.49). So, I'm sure you're asking, "what on earth is a protein breakfast?' Well, it was four egg whites, a few gorgeous tomato slices, and a nice piece of grilled chicken. It was pretty filling and everything tasted great. Our server was efficient and professional and swiftly brought over a "to go" box for the excess of those enormous pancakes. First of all, I love an old classic diner and Post Road Diner is in great shape and being worked on to make it even better. The diner has comfortable retro feel, but updated appropriately. I ordered Turkey & dressing w/ mashed potatoes and gravy on all of it. My appetizer choice was chicken noodle soup. I had iced tea and water, and finished w/ fantastic pecan pie alamode. My waiter was prompt to greet me, answer questions on the menu, and all the stuff a waiter should do. I really enjoyed my dinner at Post Road Diner. We've been coming here for years. We know the staff and they know us. The food is good. Today, just wasn't the same. I am a firm believer that your animals can stay at home. Everything was really good! We ordered chicken pot pie, corned beef with cabbage, eggs easy over and a Cobb salad. Each dish was well seasoned and came out piping hot. The chicken pie filling had the right proportion of chicken with veggies, and the crust was scrumptious. Tho I wish the crust had a bit more salt. Having said that the crust texture was extraordinary with flakiness and texture. The corned beef with cabbage was accompanied with carrots and potatoes- enough for 2-3 persons. The eggs came with strips of bacon and toast was just perfect. And the Cobb salad was fresh and packed with avocados, eggs, chicken, bacon and blue cheese- it was a sight to behold. Everyone oohed and ahhhed when it was brought to the table. The portion size were humongous as you would expect with an authentic diner. The inside of the diner gives off a retro feel which I enjoyed compared the various diners that are changing their interior to be more "modern". Great diner spot with one of my favorite styles of sandwiches: the Thanksgiving Sandwich. Great retro feel with quick service and good coffee. I ordered the chili and the aforementioned Thanksgiving sandwich and left full and extremely happy. The chili (not pictured) was so full of meat and was surprisingly spicy which I appreciated. The Thanksgiving Sandwich was the star though - the flat bread move was a interested choice but it ended up being the perfect bread. I added some Swiss cheese in order to add a bit of tang and it was the right choice. It was hot and delicious plus not too messy. I had to go back and update my Yelp review from four stars down to two stars. We were in the diner for a late breakfast over the holidays. The place was busy but not packed. There were three adults and they put us in a tiny booth that honestly should be a booth for two people - I felt very cramped. Our server was not the friendliest man in the world. He spoke softly and I don't know if it was a combination of his soft voice, the loud diner and his slight accent but I could not understand him. I felt terrible that I had to keep asking him to repeat himself and I think he was annoyed that he had to. The menu at this diner is HUGE and printed in really small font so they can cram all of their menu items on the pages. I always like when restaurants have a good selection and variety of things to eat, but it always makes me wonder how they keep that much inventory on hand (how fresh is this stuff) and also how they can be amazing cooking all of those dishes? Our table ordered the chili omelette, the chicken and waffles and the grilled chicken and rice dish. I have no idea why I ordered that chicken and rice entree. It just sounded good at the time...it came with chicken soup which I did like. The chicken was two chicken breasts pounded so thin and then cooked on the flat top. The rice was just plain white rice and the side was frozen corn in a little cup. The chicken and waffles would have been better if the chicken was not the little frozen chicken tenders but homemade fried chicken. I am told the omelette was good. So one out of the three of us enjoyed our meal. The prices were not cheap either. $43.50 before tip for our three entrees without beverages. Seems a bit steep for a diner. If you are looking for late night food, stop in and give it a try. If you are looking for a good breakfast spot, try out SoNo Harbor Deli and Cafe. read more

This was a cute little 50's Dinner. The service was good. The food was ok my husband had breakfast which he said was good and I had a Grilled Cheese which was ok. The hit of the day was the chocolate shake a bit pricey but your really getting two shakes in one. Their bathroom were clean with hot water. Some places turn their hot water down during the winter it can get to expensive but not this place. In the end, it was a good place.
