One of the managers took time to talk to us for a while and he was very friendly. We each ordered two drinks and one appetizer and everything was delicious! This spot was incredibly disappointing. Came recommended by some locals, was packed to the gills when we arrived, seemed like a very popular and desirable place to eat. Service was great. Classic midwestern friendliness. The views were fantastic. All the boxes were checked but the food. When I saw the menu, I had a feeling, this place is going to do nothing great, because they have a touch of everything. We of course didn't eat everything, so can't say for sure, but the food we ordered was far from mind blowing. The prices and popularity would have you thinking you were about to have food that at least exceeds fast food quality, but that was not the case. We had previously been here and remembered great food and excellent service, but this visit was a massive disappointment.We ordered the Florida Beach Bread, which was described as having artichoke, garlic, black olives, onion, and diced tomatoes, topped with blue, cheddar, and mozzarella cheese. Unfortunately, it came out on soggy French bread. There was no artichoke, blue cheese, or onion--just random black olives and haphazardly sliced tomatoes sprinkled on top. It was definitely not as described. My wife's entree was a mixed bag. Her pork chop was fantastic, but the green beans on the side were overdone and completely soggy. The photo above shows the mac and cheese. I am guessing it was ready prior to the pork chop and sat under a heat lamp, because it was beyond dry. The waitress did offer to have it remade. However, after waiting about 40 minutes for our initial food to arrive, I simply did not have the patience to wait all over again. Ultimately, nothing was done to rectify the situation. I can see the charm of the river domes, but we had to make a reservation to get one and there was no one else in any of the other ones when we were there. In fact, at 7 pm on a Thursday, there wasn't even a dozen people in the restaurant to begin with. Everything was decorated for Valentine's Day which was a cute addition. The domes are also heated which made things nice, but you can't really see the river which is the point of the domes. Additionally, our server didn't really check on us and it took a while to get the condiments missing when the food arrived. We ordered a variety of items with the ny strip being the best of what we tried. The au jus was rather bland, the fries were crispy but had no flavor, the fish was quickly soggy due to all the oil not being drained. We added on hush puppies to the fish and chips.... $5 for 5 hush puppies. Would not suggest doing that, not worth the up charge. There is an eclectic mix of things on the menu but nothing that would lead me to recommend someone to try this place. The beer selection was great however so if you are looking for a place to grab a drink, the tap room feels like a great option. We went to Fox River on a beautiful Thursday night and sat outside, where a live band was playing, which I love. It was "seat yourself" on the patio and it was quite busy so it took a while to get service at all. Eventually we ordered drinks, which then took so long to come out that the waiter apologized profusely. My husband and I both asked for water-the waiter only brought one glass instead of two. By this time, I was thinking "this is going to take forever..". Luckily- it didn't take forever at all. Once we placed out appetizer and food order-everything came out within 10 minutes. It was so strange to be so slow..and then..so fast. Our food was pretty good. I ordered a grilled shrimp Poke bowl. The rice was Al dente-definitely not my favorite for rice. There also was a drizzle of sauce on it, which was a little spicy, but I was able to eat it without problem. Everything else in the bowl was fresh and delicious. My husband had fish tacos, which he also really enjoyed. And the portion was pretty big too! My teenage son had a late lunch so he just snacked on a hot pretzel and cheese curds, both of which were hot and tasty. A good spot to eat outdoors and listen to music! read more

Went there for lunch and beers on a Thursday afternoon. Jill took time to very well describe many of their beers and food items to us, and gave us some good-sized tastes of their beers. The beers were all good (some better than others, of course), and the flight pours were pretty tall! The one downside of our time here was the food prices.. they're a little high for Oshkosh (just my opinion), but everything we ordered WAS delicious. My wife got a thai chicken pizza, and I got the crispy chicken sandwich. Very good, but again, a little pricey. I believe my chicken sandwich and fries was $17. I think $15 would be a little more reasonable. I will say, at least they didn't charge a % upcharge for credit card payments, like so many vendors do these days. We'll be back! read more

Big disappointment. Took my family from out of town and the service was probably the worst we have ever had, like ever. Most of the wait staff are minors and have no experience. I have heard from friends that they had the same experience- wait staff seemed to have no clue how to do the job. In fact, our waitress was tasked at finding sugar for my Dad's tea, after recommending sweet tea, serving him unsweetened tea, going back to get the right tea, coming back again with the wrong tea, and then spending 15 minutes scouring the restaurant for sugar to sweeten the tea he ordered. She resolved that the restaurant did not carry sugar. My father promptly went inside and came back seconds later with packets of sugar in hand. We felt bad so we didn't inform her it is unheard of to not have sugar on hand at a restaurant, but somehow she was convinced (even "double checked") that there was nothing to do about coming through. Pretty crazy. Food was alright. Oh- and a 70 year old woman fell out of a hammock and needed an ambulance- maybe it was just an off day. I'll still probably go back for a new experience. read more

This is normally one of our favorite restaurants, but during holidays and special events, they modify the food they normally provide with cheaper options. We ordered over Fourth of July weekend and the fries we received were soggy crinkle cut fries. Nothing like what they normally serve. Last year during EAA we took family members from out of town after talking about how good the food was, only to be served nasty frozen hamburger patties. It was nothing like what they normally serve, and I felt bad for talking this place up only to have it be completely subpar. I understand during busy times that a restaurant's service can suffer, but to provide cheap replacements to cut back on their costs is completely unacceptable. read more

Sat there as the only person at the bar and never said welcome to Fox River Brewery. I had almost finished my drink after 20 minutes and the bartender came over and said do you need anything. Yes, for you to acknowledge me in the last 20 minutes that I came and sat here. Doesn't matter I have a full drink that took 10 minutes to get from the other bar. Nice riverside location with lots of outdoor seating, inside has a casual sort of nautical, sort of brewpub atmosphere. We sat outside because it was a beautiful summer day and not as loud as inside. The food was just ok, we both had the salmon salad ($22), and it was just ok. They were out of the toasted sesame dressing it is supposed to come with so they subbed a flavorless balsam. Vinaigrette. The tomatoes were mushy too, very disappointing and not worth the price. Service was good, busy inside and out with the lunch crowd and we didn't have to wait for anything. We were nearby at the Paine Museum and needed lunch. We looked at the reviews on Yelp for Fox River Brewing and though they were not great we decided to give this place a try anyway. We were glad we did because we had an excellent meal and experience. It was not too busy on a Monday so the four of use grabbed a high top table on the upper level near the bar with a view of the water (this would be a fun place in summer outdoors on the river but not in December). Our server was very welcoming, helpful and on top of things throughout the meal. I started with a shorty wheat beer which was very good. For my meal I had the French Dip, one of my go-tos, and it was excellent. This was one of the best FDs I have ever had - the beef was so juicy I really did not need the side of au jus. Another member of the group had the beef brisket sandwich which was also great - very smoky flavor of the brisket. The third had the salmon tacos and gave it a big thumbs up and the same for the fourth who had the bobber burger. Also the fries were hot, crispy and not too fat. Everyone was very satisfied with their meal especially after seeing the so-so reviews. If back in Oshkosh we would eat here again. read more

Great place, Great Beer and Super Service. A trifecta (or more). I stopped here for a beer and a sandwich after arriving for the massive aircraft convention called AirVenture held every year in Oshkosh. Took a seat at the outdoor Tiki Bar after passing thru the indoor dining section. Nice breeze off the Fox River right nearby made for an very pleasant feel I ordered a Blu Bomber lager brewed with blueberries and including a few in the Glass. Excellent and smooth and I ate the Blueberries for a healthy end to the drink. Next up was a grilled chicken sandwich perfectly grilled and very tasty along with a second Blu. Quite sufficient for a refresher after the long drive from Ohio. Looking out on the river, I noted past the Live music by a guitarist and plentiful umbrella shaded tables, what appeared to be a floating Tiki Bar. Asking the friendly Barmaid "What is that?!", she informed me it was indeed a floating Tiki Bar that docks at the Brewery and sails around the river deriving drinks the onboard passengers. Not associated with the Brewery but very handy to experience. Besides all the aircraft I came to see, this Brewery was one of the best things I have experienced in Oshkosh, or most other places as well. It will be a mandatory stop on my annual trip. read more

To start off, I'd like to say I think all restaurants in Oshkosh are bad (except Pilora's and Cozumel). I come to this restaurant a multiple times a year for work events and the food is disappointing every time. I've had the salmon, the bam bam shrimp tacos, the quesadillas, the walleye, the pesto chicken with sweet potato noodles, the captain crunch chicken, the burgers, etc. All subpar. Fox River Brewing Company's "world famous white chicken chili" is my last straw and I have to tell someone. You know the scene in Elf where Buddy takes Joanie to the restaurant with the world's best cup of coffee? Joanie tastes it and says "it's a crappy cup of coffee". This is the same experience with this white chili, except it's a little gross because it tastes sweet. Certainly not world famous. Anyway, Oshkosh is all about booze and a good atmosphere. We were driving through Oshkosh and stopped into fox river for dinner. Great vibes and friendly service! The beer list was fantastic and hard to choose just one so we ended up both getting beer flights. The blueberry shandy and sour both tasted a bit watery but the other beers were great. My favorites were the red and white bobber and if you prefer IPAs the friki and freezi tikis were very good as well. We have been here a few times now and always seems to hope for better but alas, it never happens. This time we had a group of us and they messed up my wife's burger... basically they forgot to add tomatoes and lettuce. It took almost 30 minutes to for them to fix it (dining area didn't seem very busy at all)... which is absolutely unacceptable. We did speak with a manager about it and was offered free dessert but we had a timeline to keep and because everything took so long we didn't take them up on that offer. Too bad they didn't offer to comp the beers or the burger. Overall the food is fine, nothing spectacular. Some people in my party stated they wouldn't order the same thing and next time we are in the area we should find someplace else to go. I lived in WI when this spot opened and I went there all the time. I haven't been back since 2005 when I moved out of state, and oh what a disappointment! I so wanted everything to be great but it was awful. I had a tenderloin and asked for it medium rare. I got a piece of cardboard. The loaded backed potato had absolutely nothing in it. When we asked for more butter we got pre packaged country crock. Disgusting! The amazing rolls from thunderbird bakery were so tasty so long as you didn't try the disgustingly sweet cinnamon flavored butter they served with them. I won't be back! The biggest draw of Fox River Brewing is it's great riverside location. They have a huge patio space with an outdoor bar and yard games! Fox River Brewing brews it's own beer. Try a glass of Blu Bobber: a golden ale with notes of blueberries! The menu largely consists of sandwiches and pizzas. There are few vegetarian/vegan options on the menu. The food itself was decent. I ordered a BBQ pulled pork sandwich. The pulled pork was tasty, but rather basic (I would have loved to have some coleslaw on top!) Overall, this spot is best in summertime for appetizers and a drink on the Fox River! read more

We live close to Fox River Brewing, but diligently try NOT to go there. It is convenient, but that is truly the only positive. The food is mediocre at best, the service can occasionally be good, but typically is not, and the menu items usually resemble nothing lIke their glowing descriptions. We've ordered an entree, and the next time we order it, it is nothing like the original we'd had, in size, shape, flavor, ingredients etc. When we have guests staying with us, we never bring them to FRBC, as it is so bad as to be embarrassing to the town of Oshkosh. The outdoor space IS lovely, which is about the only positive thing I can say about this place. read more

Tried it for the second time this month. The service was good and our server did take an item off the bill. Had a chicken quesadilla that was horrible the chicken tasted and looked like it was boiled. Very tough. Had a craft beer that was their take on Corona. It was a total fail. Advise sticking to a brand name domestic. The outdoor setting is nice and I believe it is what draws people in. It sure can't be the food or beers. read more
