They give the best manicures and pedicures anywhere in Nashville. They give such great attention to detail and my manicures and pedicures last a long time. They offer Dazzle polish for a $10 upgrade (and I highly recommend it). I love having dry nails in 5 minutes and I can put my socks and shoes on without worrying about it smearing or getting ruined. They are in a charming old house that is comfortable (reclining chairs for pedicures) and cozy. There's always beautiful flowers or some type of floral arrangement. I love their music selection and browsing their items for sale. I'm not big into makeup but they have jewelry, hair things, and rotating items. I usually have no problem finding a parking spot even though it is a busy area. I've been getting a pedicure here almost monthly for 5 years and it's worth every penny. I happened to mention to a friend how I wished I could have my head massaged by a professional and she turned me onto the concept of "head spa," which I had never heard of before. Well, I went down a rabbit hole and found Poppy and Monroe! A head spa is more than just a massage. At Poppy and Monroe, they give you a scalp analysis, massage, and essential oil treatments, with plenty of warm, rushing water to rinse and finesse. My treatment, which was pretty pricey at around 300 bucks, also included a facial (the esthetician rubbing my face was divine), foot massage, and hand/arm massage. At the beginning of the head treatment, Anna (who was AMAZING, by the way) showed me what was good and bad about my hair and scalp--my scalp was some of the best she'd seen, but was a little pale and needed more blood flow. She then showed me what my scalp looked like after that treatment, and there was indeed more blood flow, and looked more vibrant and less anemic. Anna was professional and kind and told me what she was doing every step of the way. She made sure I was comfortable the whole time. Everything felt wonderful. The vibe was calm. I felt relaxed. After the visit, Anna gave me pointers on how to care for my scalp and recommendations for returning for further treatments, but not in a gimmicky-trying-to-sell-me-stuff way. The space is warm and welcoming and also offers pedicures, manicures, and makeup sessions. The pedicure/manicure spaces are a little close together for my taste (I prefer private rooms), but they are stylish and clean. I plan to come back and see Anna again to work on my self care regimen. I scheduled an appointment online about 2-3 weeks before coming in. They are appointment-only and fill up quickly! The salon is set up in a charming old home in Germantown. It's warm and inviting, yet clean and glamorous. They have some retail in the reception area that includes their own branded candles, jewelry, and things like sleeping masks and silk pillowcases. Although it was the dead of summertime, the day I went was beautiful and on the cool side, so I opted for a pedicure outside in the garden, which was so peaceful and cute. We were the only ones outside and I honestly couldn't believe it! My nail tech Alex was SO sweet. She was very attentive and listened carefully to what I asked for, helping with color suggestions. She is also very talented with nail art. Although on the expensive side and I'm not sure I could afford to go here every time, it was certainly an experience and I'll try to come back here as often as possible. Update: I was called by the owner after I left the review. She apologized that the service didn't meet my expectations and offered to fix it free of charge. I took her up on the offer. My manicurist was lovely. She took her time prepping my nails really well. She capped the polish and there were no bubbles this time. Upon leaving, the manager did ask me to change my review. Which I was planning to do but was quite surprised to be directly asked. No ones ever done this before and it did make me feel a little odd. Original review: I've visited P&M several times. I usually enjoyed my service but never felt a strong need to return. I didn't feel that the price matched the service. I received a gift card from a friend so I was happy to go. My appointment was at 5:40 and I arrived at 5:30. At 6:50 my basic manicure with dazzle dry still wasn't complete. My manicure included shaping, cutting my cuticles (their website states they don't do that), a hot towel wrap where the manicurist squeezed my hands a few times and the polish. There was no lotion massage as the website states. There was no botanical spray. At 7 I was overdue for dinner since the service was supposed to be 45 minutes plus 5 minutes of drying. I informed my manicurist that I had a dinner beforehand. She put some lotion in a to go container and ushered me out. At dinner I noticed quite a few bubbles and lumps in my manicure. I love the nail service provided at Poppy & Monroe. I've been going here for a while and they always provide a wonderful service with attention to detail and care. I am so bummed to even write this review, but I've had a recent experience that left a sour taste in my mouth. First, I think the 48-hr cancellation policy is a little extreme for this industry. Most places are 12-24hrs. I booked an appt, but needed to reschedule as a very important client meeting popped up on my calendar that I was unable to move. I tried rescheduling/cancelling but the system would not let me alter the appointment at all (mind you, I was trying to do this 24 hrs prior to the appt). I called and left several voicemails in hopes to get someone to help me, as all I needed to do was reschedule. Without anyone returning my calls, I booked another service for a different day in hopes that I could cancel the initial appointment (as if I was rescheduling). As a last resort I texted their SMS reminder service and finally heard from someone, but they kept giving me the excuse that they could not refund me the 50% charge (which was over $50!!) - despite me explaining the situation to them. It was because they were "unable to rebook it"? Needless to say, I am incredibly disappointed by this experience. I run a business and I know it is *always* possible to issue a refund with your payment processor. This could have been easily resolved. read more

As a new Germantown resident, I'm so thrilled to find Poppy & Monroe in the neighborhood. I'd previously become a convert to waterless nail services when I lived in DC, and I'm so glad that it's available here in Nashville, too. Love being able to book appointments quickly online! I had a great first visit for a "Dazzle Dry" manicure and regular pedicure. From start to end, the experience was relaxing and friendly. Abby got me situated and welcomed me with some tea, and Sarah took meticulous care with my nails. My heels in particular had been pretty beat up after a month of travel, and she got my feet back in great shape. Sarah was lovely to chat with during my manicure, but I also appreciated that she let me enjoy some quiet time and bliss out in the comfortable pedicure chair. The soft music that was playing throughout my appointment was really great, too -- I kept wanting to jot down details of the songs! Overall, it was a great experience and I am looking forward to making Poppy & Monroe my regular nail spot. I love the location. The house they renovated to make a salon is in a great part of town and they did a great job with the remodel. I went here for a few services over a year or two but I have stopped going. I had a nail girl I regularly went to but she quit. I tried a few other girls but my results weren't great. The one manicure I got with gel had the polish too thick and was actually on my skin. They kept changing my appointments from who I booked with to someone else without telling me, which got to the point where I stopped booking. I got a few last lifts, which have turned out great. My lashes looked big and I didn't need to wear mascara. My only issue was once the girl got some of the chemical in my eye. When I told her this she said it must have been my fault while I was laying there with my eyes shut. So instead of apologizing she just blamed me. I couldn't get another one after that. I got my makeup done for NYE one year by Kat. She was awesome! She applied the makeup and also gave us a lesson on how to do it ourselves. It was a fun experience and I would do that again when I need it. They offer classes as well. I did a class on CBD and it was very informational. They had a lot of professionals in the business who explained how it all worked and answered lots of questions from the group. I do go here to shop their items. Do not recommend spending $40 to get your brows done here. Smooth Skin Company down the street provides a better service for just $20. Before trying P+M is was aware of the price. I asked the girl on the phone to help me understand the value- she said a scalp massage was provided. It was not. After my brows were done. I asked the esthetician if there was something special about the wax or anything that she could tell me to justify the cost or that I hope she gets paid more working here since the owner has high prices - thinking perhaps there was a good intent behind it - there is not. Very disappointing, Karen. I will not be back. The girl that I spoke with on the phone felt bad when she rung me up and kindly only charged me $20. I appreciate you. Unfortunately, I just can't support a business that is abusing pricing in such a way. And if Karen would like to say that the cost is justified by the filling in and highlighting using makeup that is mentioned on the site- then clients that say no thank you, when asked if they want their brows filled in at the end, should not pay $40. read more

Had the best gel manicure experience here! Came as my first time with friends, finding street parking can be a little bit time consuming. Thanks to my friends who made reservation ahead of time, three of us got to do the manicure in a small room together. While I'm deciding which color I would like inside, they gave me hot tea to enjoy. The colors they have are BEAUTIFUL! Later they gave me hot neck wrap which makes me feel like so comfortable. The girl who did mine was slow because she did really good job!! My nails look amazing now, which is a week from when I did it. Also super into the hand massage part at the end. I really like this place. It's definitely the good kind of different from a nail place. They don't do any hard chemicals like dipping powder or acrylic, but they do have gel polish. Their pedicure it's waterless which it's weird at first but It's more hygienic. They make you leave a credit card on file for appointments an they have many policies. The place is very chic and it has stuff for purchase like candles and lotions. I definitely would come back here any day to be pampered. This place is my obsession. Since I've moved to Nashville, I've tried (and hated) so many nail salons, and none of them come close to Poppy. While I will say that the prices are higher than most nail salons, with that comes exceptional service, unbeatable nail art, beautiful design, inspired product assortment, the list goes on. It's also worth noting that it's not one of those places you can just pop in for a manicure. It's becoming increasingly popular, so you have to book your appointments in advance, especially if you have a specific artist that you prefer. If the prices were lower, I imagine it would be even busier and therefore harder to secure an appointment. I love the diverse employees, all women of different shapes, sizes, and colors, and they do a great job of making everyone feel welcome, pampered and taken care of. Since Ive been coming to this salon over a year, I love to talk and catch up with the artists, but if you're more of a silent, enjoy-your-spa-experience type of person, they'll give you that too. There are so many positive aspects of this place, and you can really tell that everyone involved loves their job. Its also so important to support a business of hard working, incredibly skilled women. Also- how have I not mentioned the nails? I get so many compliments on my manicures, and the best part is that you can indulge guilt free, since this is a non-toxic, clean beauty haven.
