This was my second experience and it was consistent with quality of work. It's conveniently located on 8th ave and I'm walking distance of the area I'm constantly in. The decor is really nice and they have a lot of options when it comes to colors and styles. It's probably the location (connivence) and the friendly staff, or maybe it's just cause my friend always picks the place, but it's not because of the quality of the work. I've had a variety of techs, mostly the female "owner." Requesting light drilling only lasts for one nail, and then ultimately it's revisited and drilled deeper. My cuticles are always tore up afterwards, and the $10 designs never quite hit the mark. I recommend this place if you're not that picky, or don't get your nails done often. It's conveniently located but the one thing that really ground my gears was their pricing list in the salon is different than online. What I thought was going to cost me X amount (based off of online price list for pretty basic things) ended up costing me an extra $25 (up charged for 3 different things, not just one thing) so that's pretty frustrating and annoying. Because of the location, I have been here 4 times HOPING the next time would be better than the last... this will be the last time I come. I wanted a white pedicure. She did two coats, put on the top coat and it was soooo streaky. I said white always needs 3-5 coats and kindly asked if she could fix it... and so she put one more coat ON TOP of the clear top coat. They had us wait and go one at a time. We didn't end up leaving until 8:30pm at night and that's not even the worst part. If you love your cuticles and want an actual manicure I suggest you go somewhere else. Both of our cuticles were bleeding after the hack job we were given. It was clear this lady was new and didn't know what we wanted or what she was doing. We asked for chrome but instead got chunky glitter nails that were poorly shaped and all over our skin. Yes the polish was all over my fingers!!! The worst part was was that this monstrosity cost each of us $100, double the price listed on their website. We went back the next day during their hours listed on the website and door and they were closed. I'm mad about my experience. My pedicure lasted less than 30 mins, I specifically asked for callous removal and was told it was included which was just a quick pass with the pumice stone, my nails were not filed down correctly and were jagged. I had to go back over my $45 pedicure to remove my callouses and refile my nails. I will not ever come back and I will tell EVERYONE what a terrible experience I had. read more

A few months ago, I needed to find a nail salon where I could get an appointment for myself and three of my bridesmaids for mani/pedis before my wedding. I started looking about two weeks out, which, as it turned out, was way too late. We couldn't get in several places, even though I was looking for appointments around 1pm on a Friday. I had heard good things about The Nail Place, and they said they could get us in when I called, so we tried it out. So my nails looked terrible. I realized too late that my idea for my nails was a little to ambitious for this particular nail salon. They looked absolutely awful (clumps of sparkly clear polish), and so I was there for a while as we took everything off and started over. My fingers were a little raw and bloody by the end, as well (from trying to file down the weird clumps before we decided to just over and go simple). I won't do all the way to one star, because I take part of the blame for not realizing that anything beyond straight polish was a little beyond what was available here. But it was a pretty awful experience. Luckily, I didn't care about my nails on my wedding day that much, but it was a bad enough experience that I definitely wouldn't go back. He told me to "Pick out a color" without looking up from his phone. I sat down in the chair and he gave me a pedicure. He did a good job, but gave me THE WRONG COLOR!!! He admitted he made a mistake and offered to change it but I had to go. I ran out of time. He refused to give me a discounted price, so I didn't give him a tip. I went here with really high hopes, but was let down every second I was in there and even after I left. The location is so convenient which is why I stopped in. The woman was extremely rude to my friend and refused to help her first despite me saying multiple times that my friend should go first because she was there first. The woman did not even trim/ file the ends of my nails so they were even and shaped the same way. She did however, use the electric file to shave off many layers of the top of my nail before painting them. She put on two light coats of gel (see through) and I asked her to put on a third. While she did my nails she asked me about where I lived/ if I had been there before. She asked me SEVERAL times to come back, but did not even speak to my friend the entire time. The color on my nails was inconsistent and my nail snapped not even 24 hours later while I was lifting up a towel (my nails were dry). I now understand why no one is there when I go! The first time I went here the older gentleman did my nails and he was really nice and did a great job with my full set with only clear polish. However, 2days afterwards 5 of my nails broke off. I go back after the 4th day (2days after they break) to get them fixed. They seemed pretty nice about it and the older lady decided to fix them. Right before she finish my nails she tells me it will be $10. I felt like they should be free but I said whatever and paid the $10. When I go to pay, she asked did I want a receipt and I said yeah. I look at my receipt and she charged me $20. So I said "I thought you said it was $10". She then goes "did I say $10, I meant $20". Tacky. She ended up giving my $10 back and I told myself not to come back. Well, I did go back smh! I go back and get a full set and a pedicure. I happened to get the same older woman. As she's doing my nails she's up charging me for EVERYTHING and waiting to tell me until after she's finished. She increased my price $45 from the original price she told me from the beginning. Then she proceeds to do my pedicure. Long story short she did a terrible job. My nails turned out really ugly she half assed the pedicure and overcharged me for that as well. So 2 weeks before my wedding I called in and made an appointment for the women in my family to go and be pampered together. Our appointment was at 2:00 on a Saturday...2 days before the wedding. We actually arrived at the shop at 1:30( everyone was there. a total of 5 women). When we walked in I knew we had a problem. The place was absolutely packed full of women. Some were even sitting in the waiting area. Several times i have come in and been turned away due to a bridal party. So when I called in to schedule our appointment I let them know we were a bridal party and we would all be getting Gel Mani/Pedi's. The woman assured me that everything would be perfect and we would be treated as the other brides were. I went to the front desk and let her know we were the bridal party with the appointment at 2. She looked stressed out and asked me to wait just a moment. After looking through the appointments she assured me that they would be ready by 2:30. So we decided to go eat at Love, Peace, and Pho(see my review for this restaurant) while we waited. After eating our food at Love, Peace, and Pho we walked straight into the nail salon.. Which now had more women than before! How does that even happen? Walking to the front desk the woman told my mother and I that they didn't have time. We are actually convinced that they completely forgot about our appointment. So I will never be going back. I would strongly advise you go pretty much anywhere else. read more

My friend convinced me to try this place after she had a very good manicure there, but my experience was less than satisfactory. My pedicure is uneven, the edges of the nails are jagged. The manicure is bubbling up, the color very uneven and doesn't fully cover certain nails. Also, the technician kept talking quite a bit and asking me personal questions, like whether I would like to have children or not. I was just trying to relax and the personal questions didn't help with that at all. My first disappointment came when there was a $5 up charge to remove my gel polish even though I was getting a gel manicure. Next was french manicure was $5- fine, except their design fee is $3?
