Hands down one of the best meals I've had in a while! Every single bite was otherworldly. Even the most seemingly simple dish is done so perfectly well that it still managed to blow us away. Portions are on the smaller side given the pricing, but still well worth it. Will definitely be returning!!

Poppy - A Perfect Patio & Culinary Experience in Larchmere We were on the hunt for a beautiful patio on a perfect Cleveland day, and the internet led us right to Poppy in the Larchmere District. After seeing the gorgeous photos and reading some glowing reviews, we knew we had to try it--especially knowing it comes from one of the creative minds behind the award-winning Salt. We arrived right as they opened, which gave us the perfect calm moment to take in the setting and enjoy every bite. We started with Shawnda's Biscuits and honey lavender butter--rich, and just the right touch of sweet. Alongside that, we ordered the woodfired fresh focaccia with burrata, sunflower seeds, saba, and the most perfectly ripe strawberries. It was as gorgeous as it was delicious. For mains, we chose the shrimp and jalapeño-infused grits with a tomato-herb oil--comforting with just the right amount of kick--and the Cobia, served over esquites (a Mexican street corn-style base) with chili oil. It usually looks prettier, but I had the cilantro salad put on the side. And then came the banana cake--which deserves a review of its own. Massive, rich, and meant to be shared (though no judgment if you don't). It came with brown sugar caramel cream, almond butter caramel, and a banana almond crunch that took it over the top. Truly decadent. Don't skip it. Andrew, our server was attentive and gave just the right amount of advice. A+ service. Sadly, I was too captivated by the food to snap a picture of the gorgeous patio, but trust me--it's the kind of space that makes you want to sit and linger. The atmosphere is relaxed yet elevated, ideal for a celebration dinner, a date night, or just a really special evening with friends. Also worth noting: their signature cocktails are spot-on, though I can't remember exactly what was in my wife's... I just know it disappeared quickly and happily. Poppy is a must-visit. The creativity, the flavors, and the setting all come together for an unforgettable dining experience.

The food has never disappointed here, and the patio is exquisite! The patio vibes are one of the best in cleveland. I loved every dish we ordered this visit especially the grilled mushroom! The service is unfortunately not the best though. We waited almost 30 minutes for our server to come to our table after being seated. One visit, the server spilled the drinks all over my friend. I think there is definitely room for improvement there, but the food- 5/5

Had dinner here last night with a friend. Poppy is located in the charming Larchmere neighborhood in a old Victorian style home. We were seated promptly. The biscuit and lavender honey appetizer is divine! The puréed eggplant also flavorful. We also enjoyed 2 mocktails. The cobia & shrimp and grits were also good , I definitely could've used a bit more grits.

Food was wonderful. We also had the duck with beans and the duck was smoked. Octopus was wonderful - date night was wonderful. My friend had the Negroni and a wine and I tried a sip - decent! Trumpet mushrooms were tasty in a sauce. Nothing was overly spicy. Delicious place. Service was graceful.

Amazing food and ambiance: we sat outside on a warm summer night and had a really great meal. We started off with Prosecco and beer and got the maitake mushroom as well as the Japanese eggplant for the appetizer. The maitake mushroom was a really unique and delicious dish, the eggplant definitely has more Asian flavors that tastes like a stereotypical yu Xiang eggplant--not in a bad way but in a less unique way. We got the octopus special for entree which complemented the fingerling potatoes and chorizo very well and it was quite tender. We ended the night with the strawberry pretzel salad which had homemade strawberry ice cream--slightly icy in texture but tasted very fresh without any artificial flavor. Overall the meal exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu! 4.5/5

Made a reservation for 5PM and we got seated quickly! My friend and I ordered a variety of dishes and everything was delicious! We got the biscuit with coconut chili butter which was absolutely amazing. The calamari had a nice crunch from a light batter with this tzatziki sauce that balanced it well. We got the squash and kale salad making it the perfect fall veggie mix and ordered the branzino with rice cake which was seasoned so well! We also ordered cocktails which were delicious and finished off the night with a cherry pie! Love how they turned an old house into a restaurant which gave it such a cozy vibe! Service was amazing and I can't wait to come back when they change their menu!

Cutest little spot. I love the way they have it set up as a restaurant but inside of an old house. Everything is done so beautifully and the ambience is perfect for hanging out with the girls or for a romantic date night. Super friendly and welcoming staff. The food was just OK to me. It did feel like more flavor or salt was needed. We tried the beef tartare. We got the burger and fries, great quality meat on the burger. We got the rack of lamb, which was only a few pieces not really a rack of lamb we tried the banana cake which was flavorful, but Very, very dense and felt like it was missing something. Great frosting/whip though. Would I recommend .....sure you should try it, but I'm not sure if I'd return.

Wife and I came here in the Fall for our anniversary dinner. It was a lovely evening, so we opted to sit out on their back patio area which turned out to be a great decision. The serving team asked us if we were celebrating anything special (which we were) and returned with a complimentary champagne toast for our anniversary...what a nice touch! We decided to split a baby romaine Caesar salad and then we each ordered a main dish. My wife loved her halibut with a smoked pepper glaze atop a sweet corn puree and a side of grilled asparagus. Seeing the open-air grill when we entered their outdoor patio area, I opted for the char-grilled flank steak served with potatoes and asparagus. It was smokey and cooked to a perfect mid-rare degree. The atmosphere and air of celebration made for a wonderful dining experience, anxious to come back and sample other items from their menu!

Winter pop up bar in the back of the restaurant

We finally made it to Poppy and were not disappointed. We went for their holiday bar pop-up, which is hosted in the cute back barn area they have, which is a bit chilly but is being warmed by some extra heaters in the space. The charm of the ambiance more than makes up for a few chills. The drink menu for the holiday season is excellent. I went with the coquito, a sort of Puerto Rican egg nog-type deal but that gets all of its creaminess from coconut cream. It was boozy and delicious. My husband got a drink off of the regular menu called put 'em up, put 'em up and was impressed (yes, I am here for the Wizard of Oz themed drink names). We also ordered two small dishes - a salad with currants and butternut squash that was knock-out and a smoked trout dip - very yummy. We didn't make any reservations to go to the pop-up bar and we were seated quickly and served efficiently. The pop-up is first come first served, but if you're going to sit in the main restaurant its fairly clear you'll need a reservation or very good luck. Can't wait to go back to try a full sit down experience.

"Surrender Dorothy": dill-infused vodka, Dolin blanc, celery bitters, cornichon
    Mark R.

First time here and top notch experience. I thought the cocktails especially were really refined and thoughtful - they're also Oz-themed :-) My favorite was a dill infused vodka martini with celery bitters and Dolin blanc for the vermouth. The balance of the sours and the vermouth (the blanc - mind you not the "dry" / white or "sweet" / red vermouth) has a sweet taste profile and was excellent. Food was excellent as well - both the lamb burger and the beef cheeks hash were top notch. Service was personable, attentive, and helpful. Patio is great - massive wood fired oven. Needless to say, we are coming back for dinner (already booked). Can't wait!

    Potato Leek Fritters

Spring is finally here and Poppy has bloomed on Larchmere! While the outside is the same residential building from Felice days, the inside is newly polished but still vintage cozy. Plants are being nurtured in every corner (yes, even in the restroom) and thrive in the covered porch area where you could almost convince yourself you're just sitting at your neighbor's. We came for the first lunch service and everything ran like a well-oiled machine. Chef Parkison herself was part of the welcome party as diners arrived. Inside, the atmosphere is classy and casual, certainly dressed down from Salt+, but the service and food are enough to impress. Classic rock was the soundtrack while we perused the simple but enticing menu, which our server Samantha explained was all made from scratch in the kitchen (except from the bread sourced from On the Rise). We snagged a window seat with huge pillows and were immediately offered filtered water. The menu is in the flavor of Salt+ with a mix of vegetable, seafood, and land meats, including some cocktails imported directly from the old menu, but there's also more entree style dishes near the bottom of each list. A variety of seating exists for intimate tables for two or larger groups. Selecting our food was no easy feat as Samantha genuinely loves food and waxed poetic about everything, but we didn't feel pressured to order. Everything we ordered was fantastic, with perfect consistency and cook - the Potato Leek Fritters set the stage, the Scallops were plump and delicate, and Lamb Burger perfectly juicy. With the housing refresh, you can peek into the kitchen where food was efficiently prepped and whisked to each table - you can't help but get food envy while watching plates pass. We even gushed about how warm and toasty the bathroom was (a pleasant experience in the winter), and I was pleased to see the vintage bookcase in the bathroom was not only delicately adorned with paintings of poppies, but stocked with feminine hygiene products. Poppy's not done growing yet either - when warmer months arrive, supposedly the outdoor patio area will transform into a speakeasy style bar, Etta, for over 100. And will remain open year-round for your east-side cocktail fix.

Eight years worth of Fairmount moments later, this review is well overdue. AMBIANCE: The ambiance allows you to slow down and enjoy your company. The restaurant is dim lit, has fireplaces, and loungey atmosphere. It somehow feels warm and I heard a lot of people refer to it as a second home (people are always so friendly here!). There is ample space - three bars, main dining space, and huge outdoor oasis bar. Nestled in Cedar Fairmount neighborhood, you'll also be able to enjoy historic neighborhood. There are seating arrangements if you're craving company or want to enjoy your date. Seating options include couches by the fireplace, tables, and high tops. Fairmount is delightful during every season. During the summer you can enjoy the bar and patio. In the winter you can dine at the igloos. I prefer all seasons here. FOOD/DRINKS: The menu at Fairmount is impressive and has exciting seasonal/weekly additions. You'll never get bored. The cocktails here are refined, very boozy, and very well crafted. The food is seriously delicious, and consistent every single time. I've been impressed with every dish. The dishes and drinks frequently follow the seasons. During my latest visit I enjoyed Butter Pecan Warm Cider with bourbon ($12, so bold and boozy, tastes like fall). I also ordered Fig Trouble Little China ($15, a more rich version of Old Fashioned, so delicious). I also tasted Short Rib & Risotto for the very first time ($28, such a delicious dish, every bite was just amazing). My favorites? Ah, so hard! I'll go with the Fairmount Burger! It's angus beef burger with bacon-fig chutney. It's so delicious! I can't even be serious about meat at the other burger places, this is easily the best burger in the city. My seasonal favorite? Kevin McCallister seasonal drink that resembles coquito or eggnog. The drink is topped with rice paper that includes the design of Kevin from Home Alone. It's such a fun tradition! I look forward to this drink all year and always tell the world about it! SERVICE: The service is excellent. I haven't been anywhere where service is right on point every single time. Everyone is nice - the owner, hosts, and waitstaff. You truly feel seen and like the most important guest. I've visited previously while on dates and frequently dine here solo, always had the most pleasant service. EVENTS: Many people book events here for their non-profits or companies. As far as individual events, Fairmount hosts a fun NYE party every year! PARKING: Onsite parking lot is available at the back of the building. You can enter through the front doors on Cedar or right through the parking lot door. There are numerous reasons why I love the Fairmount. I consider it to be the best dining experience in the Cedar Fairmount neighborhood of Cleveland Heights. I also love how the owner Jake is very engaged in the community and is incredibly friendly with the surrounding business owners. I'll choose this place again and again for calming ambiance, crafted cocktails, and delicious food. To many more years of Fairmount and at Fairmount!

She was not enjoying her job this night and appeared stressed sounded annoyed. She did make us drinks and warmed up slightly, but I hate feeling like you're putting the staff out just by ordering a drink off the menu. We ordered an Alligator Lounge and Yada Yads. Both tasty. What sets Parnell's aside from other Irish pubs is that it's pretty classy and sophisticated with dim lighting, nice ambiance, Irish charm, and well curated drink menu with more than just beer. By the way, the beer is really good too! I've been to Parnell's for a wide range of occasions - book club, date nights, and even Irish New Year! All very memorable and pleasant experiences! Parnell's is a cozy bar with limited seating including the bar, high tops, a few tables by the windows, and a small room in the back. On weekends the pub gets very lively and busy. On weekdays you'll usually find more room to roam. It's a great destination to spend your whole evening, have some drinks before or after dinner. No food is served here, but there are so many options within the walking distance (neighborhood is safe to walk in day and night). Genuinely you can't go wrong with any surrounding food choices. Many people come here to socialize, have a beer solo, play board games (bring your own), or spend their time at happy hour. Service is always very pleasant and attentive. It's also important to mention that as a single woman I always feel completely safe in this space. Everyone is welcoming and social! The pub is well known for their beer and whiskey. As far as beer, you'll find a variety here - Guinness of course, and local beers - Harp, Butcher & The Brewer, and Fatheads. Tonight I tried The Repeater Euro Lager from the Butcher & The Brewer ($8 + $0.16 credit card surcharge). It was a very smooth lager. I'm not quite a beer connoisseur, but I always felt that beers here are really good. You can also find flights (whiskey, bourbon, etc), wine, gin, vodka, tequila, and rum. Don't overlook their QR menu (found at the bar) with their special drinks. I had mixed drinks here and can attest to the fact that they were very strong, with high quality liquor, and delicious. I mean it's the quality I'd expect at a swanky speakeasy, not a pub. So it's a huge compliment. You can find their menu here: https://www.parnells.pub/drink or scan QR code at the bar. Parking is available at the lot in the back of the building (free). There is also plenty of street parking. Although watch for any posted parking signs. Most importantly, visit Parnell's for Irish NYE! They celebrate NYE during Dublin time (much earlier than NYE). There's a large festive crowd, countdown, and champagne. It's the most festive NYE I've been to, so full of Irish spirit and spirits! You haven't lived until you celebrated Irish NYE! I recommend visiting Parnell's whether for a casual after work pint (especially if you're close to the location at CWRU or the Clinic), a casual date (it might a little loud but you'll have so much fun), a gathering with friends, or really any occasion. My every experience has been very positive, and I know yours will be too!
