Perfect vibe in this place. The server is attentive and personable. They have an amazing selection. Come visit! They need customers. We don't want to lose these local small businesses.

The whiskey bar is a hole in the wall neighborhood bar that I've been meaning to check out forever. They have a large selection of whiskey and bourbon as the name implies, but also a smaller menu of cocktails with other spirits. The cocktails are reasonably priced, ranging from $10-$15, and the whiskeys have a large price range, ranging from $5-$350. If you are curious about trying different whiskeys, you can also get a flight, when you get 3 half pours of whiskey at half price each. It's definitely a small and intimate place, with a pretty tight seating, though they do have a downstairs area, though I'm not sure when it's open. Please keep in mind that this place does not have food, so don't come too hungry. They do provide you with some bar snacks, which for me were pretzel chips and chocolate covered almonds. I do think they have a cheese board on the menu for around $25, though I personally did not try it. The service was excellent, and the bartenders are knowledgeable and willing to help you with your drink selection.

    My selection for the night.

Who wants all the whiskey served up in style with all the explanations of the how and the who? If you do, this tiny bar in the historic Coventry neighborhood is just the spot. Nice for a date night or hanging with your BFFs. Get one pour or a flight. Not a sipper, not a problem. They have a nice selection of cocktails to choose from. They offer a small snack for free but don't let that stop you from getting a beautiful cheese board. The service is on point. The selection is huge. The place is quaint. Wednesday's is half price pours. They also have a cute patio for when you want to sip and stair in the fresh air.

This place is absolutely a hidden gem in Cleveland! Absolutely stellar selection of all manner of whiskey/whisky/scotch/some bourbon. It is tucked away and the sign is just dark lettering on a dark awning so it is easy to miss. The owner, Jay Novak, is a Bosnian immigrant who owns the place with his wife. We did not know this at the time. He gave our group of three a personal tasting session while answering our many questions about this or that bottle. He was up front about not knowing something when he didn't. We tried a fantastic variety of peaty, smoky whiskey, Japanese whisky, and more. At one point they even brought us cheese and crackers to help cleanse the palate! We all had a first rate time and I can't wait to go back to try more.

Noè (Noah) is an exceptional barkeep, he was able to curate the experience to the point that he's turned me into a person that avoids whiskey to an advocate. He gave very personal service while never taking his eye off his other customers. At a full bar he made me feel like I was the only customer. The whiskey selection is excellent as expected. I've watched a lot of documentaries about the distilling process for a variety of whiskeys, scotches, Bourbons, but I learned more practical information in five minutes from him. Overall an excellent experience. I recommend Buffalo Trace.

There is something so intimate about this place. It's a small bar off the corner of Coventry and Euclid Heights, tucked next to Chipotle. As soon as you walk in, you see the wall of alcohol that looks like a piece of art itself. They have a small menu of drinks, if you want but you could try a flight of different whiskeys (minimum of three). My friend was able to work with the bartender with how much she wanted to spend and had him choose a few different types for her to try for her flight. I actually got the Sazerac because I had NOLA on my mind at the time. The Whiskey Bar has a downstairs/"speakeasy" area where they typically have live music on Friday and Saturday nights. We were there on a Friday night, but we didn't hear music at the time. They ended up giving us a small plate of meat and cheese on the house, so we were pleasantly surprised by the hospitality. This is a great place a more intimate experience and a chance to try a variety of whiskeys that you may have never thought about. I'm definitely coming back here to check out the live music downstairs one night.

A great couples night! Learned more about whiskey! Great staff! Good drinks! Awesome tasting!

An impressive wall of whiskey (whisky) greets you as you enter. I enjoyed a flight of three shots. I received an education and a great set of shots. The server presented a wonderful description of whiskeys. He guided me through the my flights, with a nice palate cleanser in-between. There are two levels, so plenty of room to enjoy an evening of whiskey and conversation with friends. A hidden gem in Cleveland. Check it out.

Cool little place. I will return to check out the down stairs speakeasy. If you can't find a whiskey here then you don't know whisky. Cosy atmosphere, live music and knowledgeable server. Prices are affordable and appropriate for the selection.

The ñame describes what it is, exactly. They don't really have food or a wide variety of non-alcoholic beverages. The have two floors both with well stocked bars of a larger variety of whiskey and bourbon. The staff is kind, knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to tasting or trying the new whiskeys. The prices are comparable to other whiskey bars, it all depends on what you order. Sometimes they have live music, great for relaxing and sipping, tasting and talking with friends or a date. If you haven't been, give it a try. I'm sure you won't regret it.

Our flight for the evening $50

So this is a very interesting spot. I'll start by saying why I took away a star. The primary issue that I had is that I felt the owner was just making up prices as he went. There are maybe 6 mixed drinks on the menu that range from about $10-$12. The owner offered to make me a custom drink nothing too fancy and it ended up costing me $25....yikes. On top of that, it was only "okay". This was our second round of drinks. Our first was a flight of 3 different whiskeys and I had a mixed drink on the side. The flight was $50 and my custom mixed drink was $12, with a 20% tip we paid a little more than $70, which was reasonable based on the whiskeys we chose. That's why the $25 mixed drink seemed like a made up price. Overall the space is very cozy with about 10 to 12 seats. I did not visit the downstairs bar where there was suppose to be live music. However, we heard Kanye West playing through the floor, so I'm not sure how " live" it was and it definitely was not speakeasy. Some reviews complained about the attitude of the owner...I could see it. Even though our experience besides the making up of prices, was really pleasant. There was another guy behind the bar who was very hospitable. Our drinks were served with a variety of finger foods that helped to bring out the flavor of the whiskey. All in all, we had a really good time. However, I honestly doubt I'll go back. There's something off-putting when you feel you've been overcharged just because. Now, that doesn't mean I wouldn't recommend it, just be sure to ask about the prices if you are offered a custom drink.

What sets Parnell's aside from other Irish pubs is that it's pretty classy and sophisticated with dim lighting, nice ambiance, Irish charm, and well curated drink menu with more than just beer. By the way, the beer is really good too! I've been to Parnell's for a wide range of occasions - book club, date nights, and even Irish New Year! All very memorable and pleasant experiences! Parnell's is a cozy bar with limited seating including the bar, high tops, a few tables by the windows, and a small room in the back. On weekends the pub gets very lively and busy. On weekdays you'll usually find more room to roam. It's a great destination to spend your whole evening, have some drinks before or after dinner. No food is served here, but there are so many options within the walking distance (neighborhood is safe to walk in day and night). Genuinely you can't go wrong with any surrounding food choices. Many people come here to socialize, have a beer solo, play board games (bring your own), or spend their time at happy hour. Service is always very pleasant and attentive. It's also important to mention that as a single woman I always feel completely safe in this space. Everyone is welcoming and social! The pub is well known for their beer and whiskey. As far as beer, you'll find a variety here - Guinness of course, and local beers - Harp, Butcher & The Brewer, and Fatheads. Tonight I tried The Repeater Euro Lager from the Butcher & The Brewer ($8 + $0.16 credit card surcharge). It was a very smooth lager. I'm not quite a beer connoisseur, but I always felt that beers here are really good. You can also find flights (whiskey, bourbon, etc), wine, gin, vodka, tequila, and rum. Don't overlook their QR menu (found at the bar) with their special drinks. I had mixed drinks here and can attest to the fact that they were very strong, with high quality liquor, and delicious. I mean it's the quality I'd expect at a swanky speakeasy, not a pub. So it's a huge compliment. You can find their menu here: https://www.parnells.pub/drink or scan QR code at the bar. Parking is available at the lot in the back of the building (free). There is also plenty of street parking. Although watch for any posted parking signs. Most importantly, visit Parnell's for Irish NYE! They celebrate NYE during Dublin time (much earlier than NYE). There's a large festive crowd, countdown, and champagne. It's the most festive NYE I've been to, so full of Irish spirit and spirits! You haven't lived until you celebrated Irish NYE! I recommend visiting Parnell's whether for a casual after work pint (especially if you're close to the location at CWRU or the Clinic), a casual date (it might a little loud but you'll have so much fun), a gathering with friends, or really any occasion. My every experience has been very positive, and I know yours will be too!

Atmosphere was a wood, rustic, whiskey barrel feel and the food was great. Came back this year, and it was probably the most brutal restaurant experience I've had in a while. So Char is now called Avo Mexican, but they didn't change the atmosphere to replicate a Mexican place. It's still whiskey themed- with signs slapped on the old logo. They still have some of the old menu items from Char- which is so confusing too. When we walked in I asked the host if the bar was open seating. He said "oh I don't know" and walked away. We just sat at the bar since he didn't come back. We asked the Bartender what happened to Char and he said the owners wanted a rebrand. But it looked like a whiskey bar still....they didn't rebrand anything. I got a marg and my guy asked for a Mexican beer they used to have. Bartender said we haven't had that in a year. So they got rid of all their Mexican beers....? Even though they are now a Mexican place? So he ended up getting a Coors Light. My Marg lacked any sweetness or Agave. It was tequila and lime juice- poor bartender was struggling with 4 bar guests. It was kinda sad. I got a taco salad and my guy got a burger. He used to get the burger with fries, but now that it's Mexican, they only have chips. We had chips and guac for an app, so that was super annoying. Fries used to be really good. And who wants a burger without fries? Place wasn't busy, but our food took 35 minutes. Bartender kept apologizing and saying the kitchen was slammed. It clearly wasn't, I'm sure the cooks were adjusting to a new menu. Food was okay. Used to be really good, but I wouldn't recommend anymore. I guess they close at 8pm some days, because around 7:40 when we just had gotten our food, the bartender said it's last call. We were kinda laughing that they did a last call during normal dinner hours. My fiancé was considering getting another beer after dinner, but I guess they were closing...so weird. I've never seen a place close at peak dinner hours. No idea why they rebranded it. Confusing signage, food is not good anymore, drinks are bad, atmosphere doesn't make sense, menu is lackluster, service and kitchen are lacking, hours are bad. Sucks to write this, but I 100% will not be returning.

"Hook and Hoof" has been in downtown Willoughby for quite a while so they must be doing something right. And the fact that there aren't that many high level dining establishments in the Willoughby area helps. The first thing I noticed was the facility is very narrow which lends to a crowded feel. And all you need is one overly boisterous table (which was right next to us) and the noise level can be overwhelming. The server we had for the evening was very pleasant. She did a good job being timely with everything. But, it was odd that she often did not listen to an entire request (or maybe just couldn't hear) before walking away. There were a couple of requests for simple standard items that she wasn't even sure they had. I just found it odd. The food however was excellent. The kitchen staff did an exemplary job all night. I had a marvelous cocktail from the well stocked bar. And my double cut pork chop was fantastic. So full of flavor, juicy, cooked exactly as I requested. The sides that accompanied it were just tender enough without being mushy. And my banana cream pie was great. Overall, I give "Hook and Hoof" a solid 4. I definitely can see us going back.
