First things first: Its an estrogen fest up in this club. Came here to see G-Eazy during the halloween weekend. Typical elitist LA scene. Extremely difficult to get on guest list and the promoters are selective; several of them asked for my ig and my friends' ig to see what we looked like. Also, doorman who looked like an angry Keanu Reeves will probably keep you waiting an hour and let in 20 VS models before he gives you the okay to step in. That's if he even lets you in. Went to this club once in 2020 and never again worst experience. After seeing similar experience, I thought I'd share mine. Back to when I was in line there was probably only like 10 people and everyone got in quick except me. I moved quickly to the first in line but unfortunatly stayed first in line for a while. I came with my girlfriend to this club for halloween, or... I tried to come. The line was a mess, because you couldn't find where the line started or ended. And, although we already had tickets that we bought online, we couldn't enter. It looks that all the security people were hired a day before the event, nobody knew what was happening. One security guy tried to help me by showing me who I should talk to, and just by doing that he asked me a tip............ The friends of the bouncer were cutting the line and getting in the club while everyone else was waiting in the line. After 50 minutes in that "line" that was not moving, we decided to leave and we went to another bar close by, which I'm sure we had a much better experience. Anything is better than this place. Do you remember that trash college bar that you used to go? It is 100x better than this. Stay away of this place if you value your time and money. Rude staff with a penchant for power tripping who consistently search for the skinny white girls (no hate to them) to push them forward. I had someone who wasn't even a bouncer scream in my face. When quietly asked to please quiet down, I was told I was being aggressive (angry dark girl stereotype much?). I waited for my promoter (because you can't get in for a decent price without one!) and I was screamed, pushed at, and cursed to get away. Went to this club Friday night and the bouncers and party promoters are super discriminating. They only let in girls who they "thought were the prettiest" or of there OWN choosing. Bouncers and whoever else was letting people in, were rude when asked simple questions. They try to act like they own the place. Standing in line for over an hour. I would not call Poppy a club.. at best its a lounge. The dance floor is the size of my walk-closet. Its incredibly tiny and has about a dozen booths/tables so its packed Guys on guestlist were expected to give their hosts $100 EACH after a group of guys decided to do it. If you are a person of color, and want to feel discriminated against, by all means please go to Poppy. Mind you, I'm a regular club/venue go-er in LA, and have never experienced the direct racism and discrimination that I experienced at Poppy. We went with a group of girls, mostly white, except for 3 of us who were black. Most of my white friends were a little ahead of us, and got in. The only ones left were me and three of my girlfriends, one white and two black. We figured, no big deal we're right in front, they'll let us in with the next batch of people. This was at 11p. 11:53p rolls around, and literally everyone has been let into this place BUT us. The bouncer looked directly past us, and let in a large group of white women and ethnically ambiguous women. He let in people from the left of us, from the right of us, and all around us. We had both a promoter and were okay paying to get in, so it's not like we didn't have a connection. We asked him what the deal was, and he ignored us. We asked him why he wouldn't let us in, and he looked us in the eye, and said nothing. Our promoter asked him to let us in, and he said "No, and if you keep asking, I'm gonna kick you out" Shortly after, he let in a group of underdressed white women. My friend got upset and called them out, and the DOOR MAN decides to jump in and starts insulting us saying that she's not getting in and anyone with her isn't getting in either. I also felt for my white friend because we knew that had she not been with us, she would've gotten in. At this point, we're both livid and mad as hell for the treatment we received. We had no desire to even get inside anymore, so the doorman's threat didn't phase us. But the principal of the fact that these people literally would not let us in because of the color of our skin was what got us. I will not waste my time coming back here (which I'm sure is what they want so this will probably make them happy to hear). Bravo poppy, what a fine establishment you've put together. Maybe on a regular night this place would be a vibe, but New Years 2024 was an absolute disaster. For clarity, I went to the lounge, not the club. Everyone paid $100 for an open bar exclusive experience where on Eventbrite everyone is promised an elegant night and a glass of champagne at the end of the night. When we first got in, there was only one bartender and he RAN OUT OF GLASSES to pour drinks. How does that happen on NEW YEARS?! I had to flag down two people before anyone went to help. And at that, I was only able to get two drinks the entire night. Then, two other friends who bought tickets and got in line at 11pm couldn't even get into the venue before midnight because they 'hit capacity'. The entire point of buying a ticket is to guarantee entrance and drinks. It was such a disaster. The bouncers are clearly scared of management because they don't treat anyone like a real human and wouldn't take action to resolve anything. Management, it was bad. Please do better. Don't oversell your venue and fix your customer service. read more

This is the first time that I had such a terrible review to write about a place. - The bouncers let some cut the line and get in for free while asking some to pay. 100$ for men, 50$ for women. - There is a "I'm better than you" vibe going on over all. - They made a big deal about the Dj being famous and talented. I still laugh thinking about it because he was terrible. All songs sounded the same, not the kind of music you can dance on, terrible transitions, too much talking and interrupting the music just to flatter his own ego or for "birthday people". - The people are also the worst you can find in L.A. The arrogant influencer type, the brainless almost naked skinny girls and the thirsty/aggressive guys lurking and hunting all around. - The constant "bday lights, bottles and signs" interrupting the party in an attempt for the arrogant kids to get more attention... I could keep going about a list of how terrible this place is but I wasted enough time. Basically, It's the embodiment of all the things people hate in L.A gathered in one space. Paid $111 for their NYE event and got there at 11 PM and was told by staff member they're out of wrist bands but he'd be back. He never came back and I waited in line for about 40 minutes with no progress. Then staff told everybody (about 50+ people) in line that the event was oversold and nobody else would allowed in at that time since they were at capacity. Everybody was mad and demanding refund info and security refused to answer any questions and nobody from management came out. So right before midnight everybody had to leave. Not sure how it is inside atmosphere wise but bar next door was cool. ‍ I eventually got a refund through Bucketlisters, who sold the tickets, but it was a pain and took a few days. read more

This is the worst club I have ever been to. I've been to this place a couple times the first time the owner was drunk and hitting on my friend and she kept telling him she wasn't into him and he kept touching her so I said stop and he got really defensive and started yelling "I'm not a bad guy stop telling me I'm a bad guy."Then he started chasing us around the place filming us claiming we were assaulting him and I had only said to stop touching my friend. And when this group of girls tried to crowd around us to protect us he started trying to fight them and the security guards did almost nothing but tap on his shoulder and tell him to stop. Don't trust the security guards I saw one watching me all night and when I was alone he told me to come with him and tried to get with me. Later on I told him I had to go home and he said he would follow my Uber home. I went there yesterday and they wouldn't let me in because I looked like someone who had peed all over the place last time. I tried to show them my snap memories to show I was out of town when they said it happened and the security guard said no. Kind of racist. I have video proof if only Yelp let me show them. read more

I wish I would've read the comments before hand because I definitely would've never went because I'm all about supporting my sisters. My first time going was for Snoop's Halloween party a couple days ago. I was on Snoop's guestlist so I didn't have a problem getting in. It was me and 4 of my chocolate girlfriends. The guards and promoters at that point were nice, so I didn't think anything of it. People kept making comments like, "YES, finally some beautiful color!" OR "I'm so happy they're letting sistahs in now!" At that point I knew what was up. It was DEFINITELY an all white party though. The only time I saw 'Us', they were accompanied by another white person. So it seemed like in order to get in, you needed a bright plus 1. The inside is very nice though and decorated nicely. There's no seating unless you're at a table, of course. Me giving it 4 stars was nothing the establishment could change, just my overall experience that night.
