I had no idea this place existed until a friend who used to live in the area suggested we check it out. We stopped by on a Monday around 8pm and it was surprisingly quiet at first, but before long people started walking in for Trivia Night and the atmosphere became much livelier. OR Bar has a really stylish, welcoming vibe. The black and gold decor, artwork, and chandeliers give it an upscale feel. I also like that it's more than just a nighttime spot. During the day, people come in to work, enjoy coffee, and just hang out, which gives it a nice neighborhood vibe. I ordered an Angry Orchard Cider and my friend ordered one of their Espress-OR Martinis. It looked great but it was strong! If you are an espresso martini fan who likes this style of drink, you will probably enjoy it. There are metered spaces behind the bar and there is also residential street parking nearby if you pay attention to the posted signs. Overall, this was a fun find and I can definitely see why it has become a neighborhood favorite. I would come back to try more of the cocktails and experience another Trivia Night. read more

PRIDE weekend is always a good time to be in WeHo. Jamie W and I flew down earlier this month and wasted little time looking for the buzz-worthy bars to patronize. Funnily enough, The Infatuation, of all resources, ranked this spot as the top gay bar among the twenty currently in business in WeHo. It's conveniently located a couple of blocks from Hamburger Mary's where we had reservations for the drag show. I know what you're thinking. So predictable. Anyway, we had time for a round before the show. The big black door did not give us an indication of what was inside, but the 1970's art deco font of the bar name did. Inside it felt more like a Studio 54-era lounge with a big rectangular bar in the middle. However, the owners managed to avert tackiness and provide comfy plushness. The period artwork, gray banquettes, and massive amoeba-shaped chandeliers add to the sophisticated ambiance. This was definitely not the typical WeHo club west of La Cienega. There's no dance floor, so you won't hear clunky platform shoes on a rainbow florescent floor. However, you'll likely hear classic Donna Summer or Earth, Wind & Fire wafting through the space. With their black, open-collar shirts and untied sequin bow ties, the bartenders were cute and attentive. We were all set for the evening with the $15 Espresso Martinis with their house vodka (Photo 10). I liked the concept of this bar - a working bar during the day! I visited this bar on an early Sunday afternoon to get some work done and my experience was pretty good. The interior was your typical bar setting with bar seating as well as small tables and chairs available throughout the space. While none of the chairs had back support, it was still relatively okay. They had WiFi and charging outlets as well. For drinks, I ordered one of their mocktails. I forgot the name, but it had watermelon in it. It was pretty good and tasty! I loved how all the fruity flavors meshed well together and that no one flavor was too overpowering. It was refreshing on a sunny day. The service here was also great. I liked the effort our bar tender gave to accommodate my friend and I such as pushing the small tables together to give us more room. Gold Coast on the edge of West Hollywood has always to me book ended both parts of boystown with the grit of Motherload. But. Not. Any. More. Or Ever again, honey. This diamond in the rough is polished and ready to gleam! Its interior could not be more upgraded and beautiful and harkens back to a Helmut Newton era of the 1970s Halston era in every possible way. The never-ending complex chandelier of gemstones and jewels is devastatingly dreamy and painstakingly beautiful. Phenomenal artists were obsessed with this place and it shows. There are great people who work here from the servers to bartenders to the very very special Constance Cooper. Constance is more than a maître D she is the D.J. of your evening. It's important to note they have very special hours too and are open in daytimes too so check after waking up as this is a perfect spot to start the party back up again! As a local since 2007, I am so happy to have rediscovered Gold Coast in this era as ar and so happy about their new approval for a back patio for all of us to enjoy for years to come. Came for drinks with a friend during the week and it was pretty busy around 8:30. It definitely has a chill-ish vibe where you can make it intimate but also it can be super rowdy.the menu is pretty unique where the cocktails all follow their what seems to me is like a Studio 54 feel. I got their Detox-Tox that was tequila based with apple and ginger flavors. I was tart but also felt it was sweeter than I had hoped. It felt a bit watered down but maybe it's a sign that they just mixed the proportions perfectly. I then just got an Old Fashioned and it also came a bit sweeter than I'm used to and like. It was our first time here and I am so glad I found this place! Honestly I was looking for a place that served a great cosmo! And I mean not in a coupe glass like a lot of new places do now. No. A coupe is not a martini. I love a beautiful martini glass and I literally chose this place knowing that they have beautiful martinis! That being said, we sat at the bar top (we prefer over a table) and Matthew took amazing care of us! I love the vibe already with the beautiful chandelier and decor. Drinks are fantastic! I'm obsessed with cosmos right now so I got their version of it and my fiancé got the OR Old Fashioned. We had reservations down the street and needed a little happy hour before dinner. They have an amazing happy hour: I got pics of most of the menu. It got busy after we arrived a little after 6pm so it's a popular spot. We parked on the street with metered parking so we got lucky, otherwise I'm not sure about parking: I think there is a paid lot behind the building. What started as a bathroom break became a fun pitstop for a cocktail. The OR bar is a stylish upscale feel with a casual vibe. I love the branding and the sense you come as you are. The music was great and the seating is made for small groups of two that can easily expand. The seasonal drink menu was refreshing and for the summer seasons vibe. The bartender wasn't pushy and gave us great suggestions for drinks. They have a theme thats not over the top and it works beautifully from the staffs attire to the curtains and the decorations. Disappointed After a great dinner in West Hollywood last night, our group of four decided to stop by OR Bar for a drink. It was just a few steps away. As we opened the door, an older gentleman in heavy makeup quickly approached us and said, "Let me talk to you outside," before closing the door behind him. He claimed the bar was at capacity and suggested we try other places. Strange, considering there was no line outside, and I could clearly see through the window that the bar had plenty of empty space. When I pointed this out, he backtracked and said, "You can wait, but I don't think you'll get in." Mind you, we had just come from dinner. No one in our group was wearing flip-flops, tank tops, or anything remotely sloppy. We were dressed appropriately and respectfully, yet still treated like we didn't meet some invisible standard. I've been to OR Bar before. It's a decent-looking spot, drinks are mediocre at best, but I thought it'd be a fun place to show my friends. Instead, we were met with unnecessary pretentiousness and what felt like selective and dismissive behavior. We then decided to walk over to Arden, just steps away. Total opposite experience. The bartenders and staff were super friendly, the drinks were delicious, and we ended up having a great time there. Not sure what vibe OR Bar is trying to create at the door, but having someone with that kind of dismissive attitude greeting guests is not the way to do it. I definitely won't be going back and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

The founders of Or wanted to go back to "French Disco Era Décadence". Or is French for gold in homage to the Gold Coast that closed due to the Covid Pandemic. Côte d'Or would have been a cool appellation since it literally means Gold Coast as well as naming a region famous for its Pinot Noir & Chardonnay. Expect chic, loungy ambiance. Elegant banquette seating,  low plush furniture, high tops for varied social configurations. The lighting here is ethereal. The only comparable is at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, the mother church of the Archdiocese of San Francisco. There you have to get on your knees to pray which may be possible at Or if the mood strikes.    Bougie Cocktails ranging from $16 to $22 such as Stevie's Money Shot, The Liberace set the pace for a Gay Old Time.  There is wine, beer (Belching Beaver Miso Honey is intriguing.), and various non-alcoholic beverages.
