The bayou is a hole-in-the wall bar in West Hollywood. It has the most fun vibe of all the bars in the rainbow district. What it is missing is the pretentiousness of the other mega clubs of the area. It's definitely a bar you don't want to miss if you're visiting from out of town. They have slushies infused with alcohol, beer bongs, Jell-O shot syringes, and a spin the wheel for a drink! And their happy hours are unbeatable. The bathrooms walls are plastered with memes, photos of Britney Spears, Ryan gosling, and others. And when you're visiting they will give you fluorescent paint pens to leave your signature on the wall of the bar! Also, they ask that you "Please don't do coke in the bathroom." Also, there's a dj on Fridays and Saturdays playing an eclectic mix of Beyoncé, Madonna, Taylor swift, Lana del Rey, Lizzo, katy Perry, cardi b, megan d stallion, Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, lady Gaga, and many other pop/rap/house hits. The manager's name is Graham and he's a really friendly and comes and talks to all the guests and the bar tenders are all great too. If you're visiting WEHO, do not skip The Bayou. read more

Very cute hole in the wall bar. Not as packed as the other bars on a Sunday but nice for just a chill place to drink with friends. Very nice staff. Will be coming back next time I'm in town. A small bar with graffiti everywhere. It's kinda cool by all the color and lights. Drinks are pretty cheap here especially happy hours. For the price you get、it's pretty decent and not over priced. Drinks comes out pretty fast as well. Restrooms are not the best. I think it was shared and it smells terrible. But it's a fast bar with cheap drinks、can't expect much. Service on that slow night is meh but at least the drink kinda makes you feel better. Overall 、it's an ok place with good drinks and affordable price. Definitely recommend here if you're looking for some fast/cheap drinks. Great for hangout and getting some drinks to start your night before clubbing. Came here with two friends on a Friday night around 7:30PM (during their happy hour). I ordered the Cajun tator tots and the chicken nuggets. A friend ordered the chicken wings, so I got to try those too. The food was decent but nothing really stood out to me. I had the jungle juice for a drink. It wasn't too strong (which is good) and tasted good. As far as the bar itself, it's super small and darkly colored/designed. The bartender was nice. Even though there was nothing bad about my experience I don't quite understand the 4 1/2 star rating. Maybe it's because the drinks are cheaper here than at the surrounding bars(?), but I didn't feel like there was anything particularly special that would make me want to come back. Bayou is a good time. We went because we are from New Orleans and had to see what a WeHo version would be. Drinks are decent. It was a good starter venue, but not somewhere you would spend the whole night. Fun crowd, good music. Staff was very friendly. I will say, stay FAR away from the "Hand Grenade" drink, haha. The drink just wasn't good, and I'd hate for anyone who hasn't been to New Orleans to think that is what one of our staple drinks tastes like. read more

I'll have to try this dive bar again. I went to New Orleans several years ago and the bar reminded me of Bourbon St, which they have a street sign atop the bar. When you are a bartender, come correct if you make a mistake like forgetting to charge someone's card. My friends and I get approached by the bartender who said we skipped the bar after getting drinks when they were somewhat busy. Some people do that. I told my friend, who bought our drinks and who I saw take our his card and get it back, and he took care of it. I understand people do take advantage of busy situations and not pay for drinks and people do give bartenders a hard time, but at least approach someone and say you made a mistake or forgot to charge the card or that we may have forgotten to pay instead of coming in with an accusing tone. And for something that might be a misunderstanding, try not to argue. It's bad business. It's still a cool spot. Last night may not be the best after that whole thing, but maybe next experience will be better. read more

As I told my friend when we walked in to the Bayou last night, it is Weho's best kept secret. We got 4 beers (and not Bud Lights or Bud Light equivalent beers) and the total was $12. Yes for 4 beers. At The Abbey, Pump, or many other bars in the area, you'd be paying $12 for one beer. Basically, best place to start the night if you're planning on going ham OR good place to have a super casual hang with friends if you're trying to be on a budget. Anyways, the point isn't even just the price of the drinks at Bayou. Even though it's tiny, looks like a shack, dark, covered in writing and posters and millions of tchotchkes all over the walls, it's got the cozy charming vibe that most of the "fancier" Weho bars don't have. I think they also recently redecorated and spruced the place up a bit, because even though it's my fave, the floors used to be pretty sticky all the time, and the bathrooms kind of nasty, but now they have fans on keeping the place nice and cool in this LA heatwave, the bathrooms were super clean (with working lights) and looks like they got new clean tables and bar stools. Also, the owner is amazing and basically always there with the biggest smile on his face, you can just tell he loves the place. read more

At least they have good music! All your good 90's classics. The ambience is more bar than restaurant. There are some high tables along one wall and some outside on the sidewalk. Service was also good. So it all just came down to the food. I'm not from the South, so maybe I just don't enjoy the southern palate as much. I had the Nachos, which were interesting...made from potato slices instead of the tortillas we're used to, layered with cheese, sour cream, and bacon. It was decent. Second was the BBQ pork with lettuce wrap. Not bad, but the lettuce wasn't as crisp as it could have been. Third was Jambalaya, which was pretty spicy, but well-seasoned. Lastly, the mac and cheese with bacon was my favorite. The cheese was not runny, and it had a nice texture. Everything was on the tad salty side, but probably comes with the cuisine choice! I think people will either like or dislike this place based on personal preferences. Not for everyone. read more

This is an amazing bar in Weho. Are there other great bars in Weho? Yes but they're not bayou. The first place to begin is at Bayou (and not end). They have a 10:30pm-12:30am happy hour (I almost typed 10:30pm-12:30pm). By 11:30pm on a weekend night it is usually packed but before that, it's much more open. The crowd is quite mixed and also quite smooshed. Bayou is small, all the bayous in Louisiana are shrinking. But the Bayou in Los Angeles's popularity is growing. But Bayou has a nice patio and it's not drenched in cigarette smoke (thank God). There is a place to sit and enjoy your $2 beer or $4 (but really good) well drink during their happy hour. But overall, solid five star place. The owner is really nice, so are the bartenders and they don't ignore you unlike some other bars here which I don't go to. It feels very local, people are really friendly, almost everyone knows each other and unlike some other bars (again not naming names but they know who they are), you can actually talk to people without getting drowned out by music. West Hollywood has a reputation with some of having a superficial community where no one knows each other. Go to Bayou, I guarantee you will change your mind. I am also honored to be writing the 100th review. Bayou may not be as well known as some other bars but I know one thing: Bayou is terrific. read more

He was definitely drunk and has no control over his emotions. The worst security team I have ever experienced. As a young woman who wanted to go have a fun night out at this gay bar, I'd expect you guys to have better security teams. They made disgusting misogynistic comments towards me and even pushed me on the way out. The security guard pushed me and told me to smile more because I was rejecting their advances the entire time. I clearly wanted to be left alone but they decided to kept instigating things. They both had tattoos on their faces and were white and super old. I told them after to not ever touch me again and I left with my friends. If you're a young woman beware of the creepy security guards they have hired here. read more

Solid 4 Star Bar in Boystown I'm friends with the owner so I first started coming here to support him, but kept on coming back because it's just a great bar. I probably would have given this place 5 stars a few years ago, but I think it's settled on 4 due to the fact that popularity and time have slightly weathered the place, only slightly though. The Bayou shines first and foremost because it has CHEAP ASS drinks (even cheaper during their generous happy hours) and almost ZERO Boystown pretentiousness. Unlike places like the Abbey/Chapel, Pump, or Mickey's where everyone is constantly cruising/judging and everything feels "scene-y", the overall vibe and energy at the Bayou is notably relaxed. This truly is a place where you can actually relax, grab some drinks, and have an actual conversation with someone. In fact, if you want to grab drinks with a straight boy but don't necessarily want them to be assaulted by go-go boys and aggressive cruisers, this is a great place to meet up. Like most places in Boystown, the Bayou doesn't get too crowded or crazy during the week, even more so here, but on the weekends the rhinestone covered gloves come off and this place can get pretty packed. On a slightly minor note, their food menu tends to change often (almost on a whim), which isn't that big of a deal because you're not really coming here for the food anyways. The manager, Graham (older British guy), is super friendly and fabulous so say hi to him if you see him running around. If you want to experience the tip of WeHo Boystown but don't necessarily want the whole shaft, then the Bayou is a great choice for beginners and pros alike. read more

I've had HORRIBLE experiences with one of the bartenders being super rude to my friends and I for no reason. He just yells at everyone and tries to start fights and arguments. Waited in line for 20+ minutes. Once the waiters friends were seen in line miraculously we "weren't in line" anymore. The manager that we NEVER saw claimed we weren't in line and told us that we had to get to the back of the line. He claimed: " I've been here all day and there is always a line." When I told him that there was no line when we approached and confirmed that his server had tried to seat us with the two people in front of us 20 minutes earlier he claimed that never happened albeit him never being seen. Or seeing us for that matter. He was Literally brought from the back by the waiter whose friends were in line that he wanted to seat because he was too much of a pussy to lie to our faces. Apparently you're only allowed in if "you're special" which according to the old bald "manager" we were not. Don't ever patron here. Unless, I guess, you know a guy who knows a guy. read more

Went on the night of July3 and we had a blast. Old 90s music, fun crowd and the staff is always in high spirits which is the sign of the best bar to be at. Beer is pretty reasonable at $4-$5 and tequila shots for $6. Don't fail to check out this crazy bar when you are nearby. read more
