    The classic cassette tape wall

They are back !!! Had a total blast here , had not been since the pandemic. The vibes are fantastic - the dancers are amazing and the DJ plays exactly the right songs with the perfect mix of all 80's music. It was definitely less packed than before which for us was so much better - it did seem a bit of a " how do I get out of here if there's a fire " situation pre pandemic! Drinks are fun , it's just overall and very happy place !!! Stay at the Line hotel and just go up the elevator at the end of the night

This place is dope! Went for a concert on a Friday night and stayed later than planned because the DJ was playing some serious throwback/current mix. I just could not help myself but dance my heart out. After a stressful week, this place was exactly what I needed. In addition to the cool vibes, the retro decor with cassette tapes, boom boxes, TVs etc instantly took me back to my childhood. I'll for sure be coming back! Such a hidden gem!

A speakeasy bar/nightclub in Koreatown stationed nearby a dumpster and a dark alley, guarded by a security guard.. this spot is always so fun to go through with friends who haven't been here before!! If you are in a large group, just know that you usually have to enter 10 at a time. Music playing has been centered around classics like the 80s and 90s except for select-themed music nights. This club is unique in that aspect and as someone who grew up with parents loving this music, I had a blast singing along to some old-time favorites! I don't know how often this occurs, but we were lucky to witness surprise performances from some provocative women who would really spin the mood around. I didn't witness the performances the recent time I went so it most definitely occurs on select nights. There's an alcoholic ice cream truck located at the entrance of the back patio and I was pretty impressed by the variety of ice cream flavors. For spacing, it does get crowded once you head towards the front of the bar as it's maybe a two-person width to get through when there's traffic on both sides. - unique photo ops (like a vintage phone booth) - bathroom for the ladies is tough as there's only 2 stalls at a time! - water is free and given with ice - private rooms are hidden and seems very worth it!

Charge on my card after they added themselves a 56% tip on post tax total

Last Saturday night I went to break room 86, it wasn't very busy when I got there after midnight. I had one drink that was $16 plus tax that amounted to 17.56 and I wrote in a $2 tip so total should've been 19.56. There was no line at the bar and the drink was nothing fancy, it was a short interaction with the woman bartender. Today I got an alert on my card that says I left a 56% tip. I have my card with me so I did not leave it there or forget to close out and it's a paper check where customers write in the tip NOT select a percentage on a screen so why did the bartenders add a 56% tip to my check?? THIS PLACE IS COMMITTING FRAUD DONT COME HERE.

This was a fun bar to go to for the 80's night experience but the DJ was very sporadic and I felt like didn't pick up on the vibes of the room very well. Drinks of course over priced but it's LA so that's pretty spot on. WAY too many people for the size of the place, I know they like to pack them in but at one point it felt like you couldn't even dance because there were too many people. Also I know that bathroom attendants can be nice but their bathroom is so small it just felt more like an annoyance than an actual help.

Super cool retro modern hidden speakeasy with 80s music, arcade games, spacious booths, couches, and tables not to mention karaoke rooms (one open to all and several private rental rooms), a stage for live music a great DJ and TVs throughout showing old movies, music videos, and nostalgic art and images all night long in K-Town. The hostess, greeters, security, and bar staff are all super nice and easygoing. They explain how things work a bit before escorting you inside usually in gathered clusters and groups to avoid so much back and forth as it's not a straight stroll in... Part of the experience for sure! Epic bar and fair prices with an open-air patio area for smoking or lounging, though most of the fun is through the halls that lead to the secret passage inside... Need snacks before going in? I suggest sour patch kids personally but they have quite a bit in the vending machines... wink wink. It's very dressy casual to semi-casual attire with no super strict dress code though I'd avoid flip flops, sandals, and super casual clothing. You can buy some snackables inside such as ice cream, but if in need of a meal there are some solid places including food trucks or vendors around before and after "breaking" into Break Room 86... The music will definitely have you breaking into dance as well as song. They do "discourage" taking photos and videos inside as some noteworthy people do party here as well and/or stay inside and behind or even at the Line LA Hotel where this tavern of sorts resides off Ardmore Ave and Wilshire Blvd just before it's corner opposite Wilshire/Normandie Ave across from the Purple Line Metro Station. Grateful my roommate and company invited me out. made lots of new friends, drank well and dance it up. Unfortunately the open to all karaoke room wall is massively packed and thriving all night, but I'll be back to belt out some top 40s very soon... Definitely check out their site for booking and reservations if this sounds like your kind of vibe. It's definitely mine! "Pulls cord for Flashdance moment!"

Ask the Community - Break Room 86

Are there any mocktails or nonalcoholic drinks?

    Is there a cover?

    No.

What kind of music do they play?

    80's music

    Is this 21 and over?

    Yes

Do you have to be vaccinated to enter?

    No.

I've been trying to reserve a karaoke room the past two weeks and I have not gotten a response. I've also tried calling their phone number and writing a message on Instagram. HOW IS ONE SUPPOSED TO MAKE A RESERVATION, IF NO ONE RESPONDS?

Hit them up on their Instagram page.

Is there actual food or only the $15 lunch that has ramen, pop tarts and other vending machine items?

They don't have any food, there is an ice cream truck in the patio. I know the sell alcoholic ice-cream but besides that I'm not sure what else they sell inside the truck. Not food though. There is a hotdog lady that's outside when you come out and… Read more

Are the private karaoke rooms reservation only? And does the song selections include English and Chinese? Thanks!

    Are hats allowed?

No one said we can't wear hats, so i would think so

For the Brat Pack Show is it standing or are there seats? Also is there food or only drinks?

Seats are available but cost more

    Is this 18+ or 21+?

    21+

    Is there coat check?

Not inside the bar. It is connected to the Line hotel and they may be able to store your coat.

    Is there an arcade?

    Yes

    What is parking like?

Street parking is impossible, so parking at the hotel (The Line LA) is the easiest. It's valet and when I went on a Saturday night, it was $12 for the first 2 hours + $5 for every hour after.

Is there a cover to get in?

We didn't go on a peak day, but there was no cover. The same people own Good Times at Davey Wayne's, and we didn't pay a cover there either (on a Sunday evening with a band playing).

Is 80's music all they play? Or can you request music or a certain genre?

Yup, all 80's music, all sorts of styles that you can dance to. Hip hop, power ballads, pop, new wave, post punk, etc.

    Is there a dress code?

Yes there is, I've been turned away for having a baseball cap on

Do they have shows/dancing girls on Fridays and Saturdays? Or just certain nights an times? Thanks!

I was there last Friday and they did have showgirls dancing 💃

How much does it cost to reserve a table?

Contact Herman 323 974 0957. He is in charge of VIP services. Tell him I sent you.

I finally was able to check it off, thanks to a hotel offer with a dining credit. Dahlia is the gorgeous petite space behind the larger ground floor restaurant space now called Cabrillo (formerly Caldo Verde). Dahlia opened as a bespoke cocktail lounge, then began to offer tea. Now it's just tea. There are five 2-tops and two 4-top tables. All food and beverage venues at the Proper used to be under the auspices of famed chef Suzanne Goin and her business partner/sommelier Caroline Styne. They are no longer affiliated with the Proper, but many of their dishes/contributions remain. The last named vestige of them is on the tea menu, "Suzanne's Deviled-Egg Sandwich". The tea menu has several options: Classic, with a seasonal mocktail, or with different champagnes. I opted for the Classic experience, because the mocktail had mocha, not my fave. Server Lluvia was clearly a Dahlia veteran; she offered a tea-smelling of all the teas that interested me as well as crowd favourites. I ultimately chose one of these faves, Mad Hatter's Tea Party, which had passionfruit and vanilla. I declined milk/cream, but did get lemon. There were rock sugar sticks on the table. It seems the selection of tea sandwiches and sweet treats changes every so often, although the vanilla bean scone, dried currant scone, Devonshire cream and apricot orange jam seem like constants. The sandwich selection at my visit were: cucumber, crab/creme fraiche, beet hummus on pita, smoked salmon and Suzanne's deviled egg. All were delish, the beet, crab and deviled egg especially. The sweet treats were: orange fig butter cookie, spiced apple brown butter crumble, cranberry frangipane hand pie, chocolate mocha macaron, pumpkin madeleine, plus the 2 scones. All were excellent. There were no leftovers. A bit pricey, but a relaxing and lovely experience. The room was not crowded when I visited, adding to the calmness of my visit.
